  2. Is it the Shadow Rap or Shad Rap Shad? Seems odd they'd have a special on the Shadow Rap with the new Shad Rap Shad just being released.
  3. For some reason, the straight shank hook has to be fished with braid for me. I don't know if it requires extra force to bury them, but I never could hook a fish (literally a 0% hookup ratio after several bites on a few different attempts), with my typical T rigging equipment. Give me my punching rod with 50lb braid, I rarely miss a fish with them. So for me, heavy cover flipping with braid=straight shank. Casting and pitching with copolymer=EWG
  4. It was done yesterday, going to pick it up this morning after work.
  5. I just bought a Dobyn's Fury 795 a couple weeks ago that's about to get a pretty heavy workout this weekend flinging the rig around, which is one of the things it was designed to do. I think it's going to be a great rod for it. I have a Curado 300E on mine, but if I was looking for another swimbait reel right now, I'd be looking for an Okuma Citrix 364. There's some on the Bay for well under retail, which even at retail they're not bad.
  6. I'm switching to more and more braid every year it seems, but it's still only on maybe 1/4 of my combos, with a majority of it on my spinning combos. I only have 1 spinning setup that's not braid, I use that one for small cranks and jerkbaits. I use it on my C rig rod and a few casting setups that I know I'm going to fish around grass (punching, frogging rods). Other than that, I like mono or copolymer.
  7. Might check here to see if there's anything that can help
  8. I've had @Doc-Drew paint a bunch of different baits for me from jerkbaits, topwaters, squarebills, warts, and even repainted a 9" Slammer for me recently. Rayburn Red 1.5 of his caught this one in January His jerkbait paints have really been killer for me.
  9. I'm confused by what you mean "wrong direction"? Do you mean you were reeling backwards? Or you were reeling the line off the spool of line in the wrong direction?
  10. Use to be the first bait I'd use every spring and caught some of my biggest fish of the year every year doing it. Slow, steady retrieve and you'd better have a trailer hook!
  11. My wife uses a 25 size reel on a 6' 6" ML and it works great. She mainly fishes for bass, trout, and white bass with it and it's handled all of them perfectly.
  12. Welcome! I'd suggest reading up in articles; http://www.bassresource.com/how-to-fish/ If you get tired of reading, then hop over to the videos; http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/ Then you can always check the local forums to see if anyone near you is posting any information; http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/forum/14-international-bass-fishing/
  13. You got it Dwight! You'll be back chasing bruiser brown bass in no time!
  14. The colors aren't as good on the Booyah's. Haven't got to use one yet to see if it works and sounds the same in the water though.
  15. Which one? It's pretty durable but nothing like plastic baits.
  16. Just move that one to Hillsdale
  17. You going to miss the second tournament too? Unless we decide to leave later than we had planned, we'll be at LOZ Thursday night while everyone is at Olathe.

  19. That's an understatement if I've ever seen one. I'm still looking for one this year half at big as the one he just caught.
  20. Pretty cool! Those nice builds make me feel like I want to try to build a rod, but I don't need another expensive hobby!
  21. Mine was a seal and it had apparently been leaking enough that I had some water in my lower unit and it needed some new bearings and something else. Going to be a lot more than I was hoping, but they were really confident they'd have it done by Wednesday at the latest. I'm trying to look at it as a blessing in disguise because it could have messed it up bad if I hadn't seen it and gone down to the Classic this weekend and ran around the lake.
  22. I've heard those Cedar Lake bass like the black and blue bladed jigs
