Bad Night-Prayers Needed
Thanks guys, Scott's wife and son need all the help they can get right now. From what little details I have, Scott was shot 13-14 times in the chest but was still able to call over his radio. Unfortunately, one of them heard that and came back and shot him a final time in the face before they fled the scene. Despite all that, he's a fighter and although he's critical, he's remaining stable. The next couple days are going to be very difficult but all of us that know him know that he's a positive guy and a fighter that's going to pull through.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Yes, I post there along with a few other guys off here. I mainly lurk and wish I was fishing down there instead of around here though.

Bad Night-Prayers Needed
A friend and coworker of mine was off-duty in the early morning hours today when he was shot by a couple guys trying to rob the gas station he was in. Scott got hit twice in the chest and once in the head, no idea if he had his vest on or not, and obviously that does nothing for at least one round even if he was. Last I heard he was stable but obviously with injuries like that it's too early to tell much. He's a good guy and his wife and kids need all the help they can get right now. http://www.kmbc.com/news/offduty-deputy-shot-at-kck-convenience-store/31603394?utm_campaign=kmbc9&utm_medium=FBPAGE&utm_source=Social

Garmin Echomap 73Sv Hd
Ondrejka got his set up and has been on the water with it. I saw the on the water pictures on FB and they were very impressive. He posted some pictures in the KC thread. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/41660-for-us-kc-area-guys-fishing-reports/page-325 I got both mine mounted, waiting on the transducer mounts to get here before they'll be completely installed but I powered them both up and did a short video of me playing around with one of them, going through the screens I'll be using most often. Hopefully have some on the water shots this Friday.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Glad you made your way over to the forum man. Good group of guys here with lots of knowledge on the local lakes. I fish Douglas quite a bit every year because it's close and a great lake to go to when my wife wants to go. Spring Creek was pretty good but seemed to go downhill hard last year for some reason? Lots of fish, but no bigger ones anywhere. I appologize in advance for Chris (kanasbassfisher08), he gets off his medication, or goes too long without ice cream and he gets pretty weird.

Another Braid/spinning Question
10lb/2lb diameter Power Pro Super Slick with a 8 or 10 pound leader is what I use for all the baits you listed.

My PB, she could have been 13-15 pounds if she wasn't so freaking skinny!

Winter/early Spring Tackle Questions.
It has to be pretty heavy, either heavy enough to punch through the ice or to make a long enough cast to get to an open hole in the ice I hate winter. Jerkbaits, jigs, or a shakyhead should catch fish in that water temp.

Spincasting Reel?
Daiwa Goldcast are solid spincast reels as well that have been around for a long time.

Kvd Jerkbait
He was using a Megabass at the 2013 Classic at Grand too, at least when he came by the cabin we were staying in he was! The KVD jerkbaits work though. I'm not a fan of them but I know guys that do well with them.

Have You Ever Obsessed Over A Particular Bass?
I don't know about obsessed, but yeah I'm probably obsessed with the idea of catching this one again Biggest bass I've ever caught in Kansas. She's in a tiny public lake and it seems like every year I see her picture on the state website, rolled up by the shock boat again and almost always in the same area. This last year she wasn't on there, but I talked to one of the guys that did the sample, said they missed a fish "For sure over 10". They had another one almost 9 that wasn't her, so he'd seen another monster that day, I'm thinking that had to be her. Bad thing is, at that size her time is running short, this spring may be my last chance to catch her. State record isn't quite 12, so depending on how this cold winter effected her, and how full of eggs she gets, she might be pushing it.

Skipjack Herring
It was either 70 or 75, and yes it was a long, streamlined fish, still very young most likely. Once it grows into that length though! He caught her on a foot long live drum. Not sure what my PB weighed, but she bottomed out my 50lb scale. She was caught on cut asian carp like almost all the big fish around here are anymore.

Spinning Rod For Skipping Docks
I skip with both but it's far easier with a spinning rod. I use a 6' 6" MH/F with 20lb 832 braid to skip tubes and Senkos way back under docks.
