Detroit lakes Minn fish report, I got soaked how?
Get a telescopic lure retriever. Extend it out and probe the bottom as you are wading. You'll find the holes before you step in them.

HUGE BIG LARGEMOUTH BASS(My Pb)
Nice bass, Congrats!

What would you throw in a pond that's full of algae / slime
Weightless 4" senko, weightless 6" plastic worm, or a 1/8 oz. jig and craw. I've learned over the years that smaller is easier to work through the slop.

How to catch the largest bass in an overstocked pond?
I fish a lake like yours. Most of the bass you'll catch are 1/2 to 3/4 pounds. There are big bass in this lake, but you have to go deep with a heavy weight to get the bait down fast. If the bait sinks slow the dinks will pick it off before the larger size bass even know it's in the water.

Let’s talk stories. Equipment fails with a fish on?
The only one I can think of off hand happened when I wasn't reeling in a fish. I had just cleaned my Abu Garcia 3600 black max round reel the day before, and I had been fishing with it all day without any problems. I make a cast, start reeling the bait it, and the thing literally starts falling apart, as I'm reeling the bait in. The side came off and the spool fell out. I had an empty sandwich baggie in my tackle box, so I put all of the parts in that. When I got home I put the reel back together and then made sure all the screws were in tight.

Having a hard time this summer catching bass.
It's been slow here for the past few weeks, but I am thinking it's because of the heat. Later this week we are supposed to cool down so maybe by the weekend my numbers will be back up.

Thanks for sharing your story. It's also a good idea to always wear a life jacket while wading.

Favorite topwater rod
It depends on the size of the bait. When I'm fishing with small topwater baits around 1/4 oz. then I like use a 6'6" m/f carbonlite spinning rod. If I'm fishing topwater baits 1/2 oz. and up I'll use my old 7'0" mh/f BPS bionic blade
