What are you asking from Tackle Claus this year?
I ordered 2 Tatulas from TW last weekend. My wife is telling me they are presents, but it depends on who is home when they are delivered.

For you guys that fish both Shimano and Daiwa baitcasters...
Over the past couple of years I have used both Shimanos and Daiwas. I think it's more of a personal preference thing. I've been using a curado for bottom contact baits, and a tatula for moving baits. Both good reels.

Front or back of boat. Who has better fishing?
There use to be days when I would get so mad in the back of the boat because my partner would cast 4 or 5 times with a crankbait to my 2 or 3 cast with a jig then move us to a new spot. Then there were those days where he would be fighting the wind all day, and I would be catching like crazy. I guess in the end it all worked out.

How to fish it
If this hoa lake is like mine the lake is a used for retention, and has several culverts and drains leading into it. You might also try casting out as far as possible. In the center of my lake there are a few large rock piles that the bass use as structure.

Prime months for big bass
I've caught all of my bigger size bass from May to October. Around here it's not a question of when, but more about where they're at during the time you are fishing for them.

What is your craziest fishing story?
When I was about 13 we went fishing on a pond that was about 1/2 mile back in the woods. As I'm walking the bank I step on something I thought was a stick until I felt it moving. I looked down and discovered that I was standing on a snake. My throat was sore for a few days after that scream I let out.

Rod length
For moving baits I like a 7' rod for the extra distance. All of the rods I use for bottom contact baits are 6-1/2' long.

Shallow ponds in cold weather
When I fish ponds in the winter the main thing I look for are a few days that have stable weather without a lot of big temp swings.

The battle continues
Just looking at that is painful.

Hey. I caught my first smallmouth bass.
Congrats!!
-
What water temp do you switch to winter mode?
Sometimes on water that sees a lot of fishing pressure dead sticking is the way to go no matter what the temp is.

Who is gonna catch fish on Thanksgiving?
Nope. Not me. I’m just going to stay home and chill in the recliner until the bird is ready.

Clear Water Grassy Lake Help
Sounds like some of the ponds that I fish. I use a small finesse jig or a 4” worm. Something that won’t get snagged easy and you can rip it loose without too much problem.

Pulled the plug, 2020 Bass season done.
My season is probably over. Not from weather, but from work. I'll probably be working 60+ hours a week from now until the end of the year. Up until June the fishing was terrible due to the boat restrictions on the local lakes. When things opened up a little the bass numbers improved, and I'm in the camp that's thankful to have any size fish on the end of my line.
