i agree to try live bait. i know many here prefer to fish artificial only, and thats fine, but i think they're limiting their options at times. this time of year fishing for bass can be tough, and its true even live bait wont gaurantee you catch fish, but i think it certainly should be an option if the fish arent hitting any artificials in your tackle box. its just another technique of fishing, i think some people just get bored soaking bait as opposed to the norm of chunking and winding while keeping their foot on the trolling motor. personally i love live bait, i like catching multiple species as well.

this time of year, im a big fan of rapala husky jerks and shallow diving crankbaits rolled in slow. i have zero luck with soft plastics in cold water

i never enter the woods during deer hunting season without wearing an orange hat, its for my own safety afterall. wearing an orange hat is not going to scare away fish. other than the weather(like not wearing a dark shirt in the summer sun), i could care less what color clothing im wearing while fishing

5 of the last 7 offenses the Seahawks faced were 23rd or worst in the league, i havent looked back further but theyre beating up on chumps. in fact they only faced 3 teams that finished top ten in offense all year. oh, and RG3 doesnt get rattled

Jackson has shown he is much better in coverage, 4 INTs this year. and he is a capable pass rusher. Orakpo has regressed as a pass rusher and has had injury problems during his career. Orakpo rarely creates turnovers. its something to think about on the business side of things too, money is going to matter...

An interesting stat about the skins at home and seahawks on the road in the playoffs from Dan Grazianos NFCE blog: "The Redskins are 13-3 all-time in home playoff games. The Seahawks are 1-8 all-time in road playoff games and have lost eight in a row dating to 1983." Also, Haslett has done a great job covering up for injuries and shortcomings on defense, i remember calling for his head earlier this season, now id welcome him back. despite our yardage ranking, this defense has been opportunistic. We have to bring Rob Jackson back, im starting to think he is just as good as Orakpo, the guy makes a big play a week it seems. Ultimately here is what im hoping for. Skins beat Seattle, Vikes beat Packers, Skins beat 49ers, Vikes beat Falcons, Skins get NFC Championship game at home in FedEx field. But thats just me being optimistic and likely wont happen. Oh, one more thing, you have to love how the Skins have protected the football this year, i think we lost like 7 turnovers all year...

i cant wait for this weekends Redskins-Seahawks game. Im a huge Redskins fan, and what better way to take the NFC East in a Win or go home scenario vs the Cowboys. Earlier in the preseason i think, i gave some cowboys fans here the harsh realities of their team(romo is a choker, demarco murray is overrated and injury prone, garretts poor game day coaching, etc) and they couldnt handle it. well, i am about to do the same for Seahawks. My view of the Seahawks, while theyre a good team, isnt as favorable as the medias view of them. The zone read/option they run isnt as near as good or advanced as the version the Redskins run out of pistol. Seahawks run theirs out of shotgun and It can be stopped simply by playing a CB off the hip of the DE. Russell Wilson(im a fan from his NC State/Wisconsin days) is a solid QB, he will be good for years to come i think, but he is a much better QB outside of the pocket than in it. Inside the pocket he tends to sail balls when he doesnt have a clear cut throwing lane(much like drew brees). Its because of him being short, while it wont define his career, it can affect him at times. The Seattle run game is good, the Redskins must be sound tacklers this week and play disciplined run fits. As for Seattles defense, its not all the rankings(overall, pass, run) say it is. Of Shermans 8 INTs, only 1 has come vs a top QB(Brady), the rest vs scrub QBs like lindley and skelton. Defensive rankings are based on yardage, which doesnt always tell the full story. The skins and hawks are near each either in categories like Sacks and Turnovers. Seattle does do a good job in scoring defense giving up an average of like 15 points per game, and no more than 28 in a game, but the skins have scored 28+ in 9 of 16 games. Also, can seattle stop the #1 rushing attack in the league? i dont think so, their run defense hasnt been that great lately, and no team knows whether to go after alfred morris or RG3, skins playfakes are excellent and often i dont even know who has the ball initially. Skins thrive in playaction(best in the league), seahawks are one of the worst playaction defenses in the league. everyone wants to talk about the seahawks speed on defense, but that plays right into the redskins hands. particularly fast defenses overpursuit the skins misdirection more than other teams, putting the defense more out of position while the play is actually going the other way. seahawks love to play a single high safety, often 30 yards off the line of scrimmage, they been doing it all year. well, skins been eating that formation all year, so good luck with that, because there will be holes everywhere between the LBs and secondary. and whats even funnier is when the skins let one of your passrushing ends(clemons, irvins) go unblocked and theyre totally confused as to what to do on the play because no one has been blocking them half the day yet theyre a nonfactor mostly. ask demarcus ware and jason pierre-paul about that... anyways i will stop here, and for those wondering, i could pick out a bunch of flaws from my team too, but choose not to lol. in all honesty, i think this will end up being a close low scoring game, like a 16-10, 17-13, or 14-10 type score

any milwaukee ive tried has been garbage, my uncle had some of their drills. i would never by any myself... as for dewalt, i wouldnt buy their drills atleast, have had no problem with their saws... im a porter-cable guy myself. my moms husband used to be a dewalt guy, but he was buying a new drill every 6 months it seemed, something was always breaking. i happened to be there one night he came in from work mad about breaking another drill, so i went with him to buy a new one, he kept looking at dewalts. then i reminded him of how many he has had break on him and questioned why he would keep buying them, then i pointed him in the direction of a nice porter cable. he gave in and bought the porter-cable, almost 10 years later the drill is still going strong, he has had to replace one of the batteries. in fact, just this year when they bought a house, he went out and got a nice porter-cable set with drill, circular saw, saws-all, and flaslight in it, all cordless, for $159 at Lowes, he still talks about going to get the jig saw to match it.

just get some ugly stik catfish and striper rods, dont make it more difficult than it has to be

i never would of pegged you a skins fan, awesome, hopefully RG3 can help bring the Redskins back to prominence. Its great to finally have a QB, and one that finally wooped dallas on thanksgiving... the skins beating dallas was the highlight of my thanksgiving, that and making my own long island iced teas all weekend =D

oh man, that law sucks. i moved to WV in the last couple years and you cant buy alcohol on Sundays until 1pm. which really sucks during football season, i gotta stock up on saturdays. more than once i forgot about the law and slammed a 6 pack or so on the counter before 1pm only to get denied *slaps forehead*

they look like the yellow perch here. anyone know of the differences, if any? other than they seem to get much bigger there than in the States here

ive had good luck catfishing at gaston with minnows and frozen shrimps. there are some nice large cats in there to be had. i usually just tight line with a traditional rig, and if theres no current i will use a slip rig. pay attention because the cats there will hit hard one time and then theyre typically gone if not hooked. i get a lot of just one solid yank bites there, unlike at Smith Mtn Lake where they want to play and toy with the bait before taking it.

not bass related, but i do a lot of night fishing with night crawlers and other baits. one night i was out on the dock talking some lighthearted smack to my uncle about how i had a fish on. when i reeled it in and swung it on the dock i saw a white perch fall of the hook on the dock, but there still was a white perch on the hook. i was using a single gold 1/0 abeerdeen gold hook. apparently one got hooked and i guess the other hung on for the ride. my uncle couldnt believe it either, we got a good laugh out of that. another time, same deal except no uncle there. i reeled in a white perch and there was an eye of a white perch on the hook as well, the fish had both of its eyes though, apparently i snagged the eye out of a fish before hooking the fish i caught. them white perch are aggressive feeders

i got a prescription pair of polarized Ray Bans. they ran around $400. i use them for fishing and driving. theyre really great for driving as i can see properly and i drive east in the morning and west in the evening so lots of times the sun is right in my eyes creating a blinding glare to where you can barely see in front of you, i no longer have that problem while driving. Costa Del Mars arent the only quality sunglasses, check out some other brands...

im thinking i should probably try and get to SML one more time this year atleast. i havent fished but an hour at a pond since i last went to SML back at 4th of July... i do got a trip planned to go out on the chesapeake bay in late october with some people from work, cant wait for that

well, atleast one person had a possible encounter to share and wasnt afraid of any possible ridicule for sharing it. right now i want to believe bigfoot exists, but cant say im totally sure. the last year ive been obsessed with sasquatch, reading stuff about it nearly everyday. im not so sure i can call everyone who has reported a sighting a liar. im sure some of the stories are just that, stories. i remember someone telling a story here about how they heard something growling or howling at them and a friend while night fishing for bass at a pond and that both of them ended up scared enough to walk out in the middle of the pond to escape whatever it was, said they believed it was possibly a squatch. this story i read this year here too the first page of this thread is exactly why people are reluctant to share any possible encounters or sightings because of the ridicule they may receive. if you dont believe, thats fine, but theres no reason to mock others, i think thats uncalled for

its always the same few lakes....yall should branch out more....

the best way to figure out whats in a pond is night crawlers, plain and simple. if you cant catch a pond bass on night crawlers theyre likely not in there...

time to break out the Wii fishing games and catch those 45lb LMB they put in the games lol
