  1. "Uncle" Homer's answer? Is that man nuts or just plain senile? Probably a little senile. He was going down his homemade list of how to do things for those over 80 and got How to bathe myself mixed up with How to clean my reels.
  2. That day with the new dog is really throwing me off. I've got all the tackles and rods ready. Boat is ready except I had to build a new livewell lid the other night. The latch isn't working and I'm too tired to mess with it tonight, I was gonna finish it Wed night. Also didn't get a haircut..... guess I'll drag my hippie head down. no time for a cut. Now I find out tonight my son is having about 20 buddies over for a bonfire in the backyard after he gets off work at 10pm... : I'm a completely unorganized mess right now but it'll all come together in the AM. Looks like a 8am start given the livewell lid situation. Oh yeah....make a note. Snag a 2lb + Carp off the fish feeding dock for Burley so his manhood isn't too badly injured this week. Got it. Good night.
  3. Do you have a manual? Try looking online for a manual and I'm sure there are enough of us that we can figure it out! If I can fix it you won't owe me anything. Maybe we can get Cart7 to look over my shoulder and point. Kelley If that was a Yammie he'd be set. I haven't messed with a Merc in many years. I'm afraid my advice may only lead to a you tube worthy video.
  4. Seriously guys, I can understand where Brent and Matt are coming from. They are probably going to be the furthest driving boat haulers coming and the forecast I'm seeing this morning on TWC indicates this will probably the weekend of the last freeze in the KY area, at least it's gonna get cold and I'm sure there will be some thunderstorms and definitely strong winds involved. Having been on KY lake one time but that one time seeing 1 day with very strong winds with a southerly component, it was scary bad. Really, this is a great time of the year to be on the waters fishing for our favorite fish, it's also the most volatile as far as potential weather and how quickly it can change. With the distances their driving I'd probably be considering the same plan of action as them. That said, matt has been in contact with me and has been more than apologetic. He and Brent have agreed to make things right with me if I don't find a roomie for the week. My biggest regret is not getting to meet these 2 guys and spend the week fishing and fellowshiping with them. Anyway. I'm sure someone who's a third man out in a room and sleeping on the floor would love to have a bed for the week. PM me ASAP!
  5. Considering the business you're in it's good to hear your work has you busy. 8-)

If Nobody spends & Everybody saves money in case they lose their job = more jobs lost. It's self perpetuating.
  7. I don't smoke them but a gal at work said they're up to $60 a carton on the Illinois side of St Louis.
  8. Were cheaper than that. I bought a couple at $125 BUY it Now, shipping included last year. The prices have steadily gone up. Reels now sell for around $140-145 at auction for NIB and Buy it nows are selling for around $160-165.
  9. Dude! That sucks. Hope you at least got the backstraps out of that deer as some measure of payback.
  10. We both hate to do it, but the trip will be 1800 miles for Brent and 1300 for me one way. We can't leave until Sunday and have to depart on Friday that leaves 4 days fishing. One of those days could be too windy to fish safely and another has lightning in the forcast. Thats a long drive, in tight times, with the possibility of fishing two days. We are trying to work everything out with Cart. We aren't just throwing him out on his butt b/c we realize what a bind were putting him in. Were making ever effort to handle the situation fairly and I believe Cart feels the same. I have greatly appreciated his understanding in the matter. If someone that is tripling up on a room and is sleeping on the floor wants a bed Cart has one. You would really be helping me and Brent from *** out by taking him up on the offer to move up off the floor. Sorry everyone. I was really looking forward to this, and it is killing me to miss it. I could understand if there were a family emergency or something along those lines, but the weather forecast is scaring you away? That's not right. At least we now know who the REAL anglers are now! ;D That knocking sound you'll hear coming from Texas will be matt and Brent giving themselves a Homer Simpsons DOH! after we post pix of our lunkers we caught in the wind and snow.
  11. Any and all of you fella's that are sleeping on the floor as an extra in a room. I've now got a bed for you in a room. The total cost for Sunday - Thurs night is $157 total. Sure beats sleeping on the floor. PM me ASAP if interested. I will be leaving SATURDAY morning. I should have wireless access at the lodge Sat evening to get on the forums if it takes that long to fill the room.
  12. It has been brought to my attention that I am now without a room for the week. If anyone has space please notify me! Note. I haven't called mattm yet but it looks like I'll have a room for myself. Both matt and Brent are looking towards not going due to the weather forecast. considering the distance they'll travel I won't hold them to their commitment. I will need a second person for that room if I'm to hold it. If another member is a third man in a 2 man room and wants a bed for themselves give me a PM immediately!
  13. Out of curiosity, what are name brand cigs going for down there now? Some folks at work are wanting me to make a run if they're cheap enough.
  14. Man, what a day I had yesterday. First, my wife had my 11 year old Shih Tzu put down. She had been sick for around a month, loaded with stones in the kidneys and bladder. A $1000 surgery was out of the question. She had been in distress the past few days so the wife decided to do it now rather than wait till it became and emergency. Then, a dog I had been inquiring about became available yesterday afternoon. I drove 70 miles after work last night and got him. Took him to the vet after that. I got nothing done in preparation for the trip that I had planned yesterday. Oh well. The anticipation grows.
  15. I love waking to the sounds of a real, country-backwoods, Kentucky fried early mornin.. ****-a-doodle-POW-POW-POW!!
  16. Great.... back to the store for another can of Scotch guard.... I thought 3 coats would create a satisfactory "Burley Barrier".... now I know I need more protection! >
  17. Yes, but then the main gripe against the STX was the lack of a centrifugal break. My point is, if that's so important than why isn't anyone comparing the S to the Patriarch? My guess is since the cost isn't the same, it thus must not be in the same class. And it's not just this thread I am noticing this in. Note, I'd recommend variety just for the fun of it. The OP had a few STX's, why not try something different? Myself, I couldn't justify the cost of baitcasters pricier than the S due it's stellar performance - it isn't weak in anything to warrant spending up. If the Patriarch were in the same price range, I'd have one just to compare and the fun of it being different. IMO, price wise, the Revo S is easily the best value in fishing reels going right now. I'm not talking retail price but the normal going price you can find reels selling for if you shop around. I also doubt I'd ever pay the $200 list price for a Patriarch. I paid around $125 each for mine NIB. If I had to choose, due strictly on price I would definitely get S reels. Low initial price, other gear sets available, some blingy stuff is out there as well if you're into that stuff. It does everything a reel needs to do, has great drag, nice ergonomics and is solid as a rock.
  18. Good points. I wouldn't necessarily want to drive up directly over the top of my marked spot unless it was in pretty deep water. I'd rather get within pretty close range and then switch to the TM and find the spot with the graph.
  19. I quickly got off the flouro bandwagon myself. I'm trying Yozuri Hybrid and we'll see. The 15 lb I have is pretty kinky.
  20. The 2 amp rate will not recharge a group 27 type battery that's been thoroughly drained after a day of fishing over night. Go with the max charge rate. The units are designed to slow to a trickle charge as the battery nears max charge.
  21. A 4" Chompers Spider jig, Football head 1/4oz, normally in dark melon. Or a 4" Senko dead sticked in pumpkin/green or Junebug.
  22. I've been using Schumacher chargers for years and they work great and last forever. Here's my latest one I got, a SC 1200. Walmart has them for $45. Has 3 different charge levels and adjustable for different battery types. http://store.schumachermart.com/sc-1200a.html

  24. I've still got 2 S reels. Great reels. At one Point I was just going to go with all S reels and swap out gear sets if I needed a cranker or a 7.1 reel. I fished a JM reel and liked the feel of the Titanium finish. The dual braking was merely an added bonus. The Patriarch is a Revo sized version of the Morris reels.
