  1. Buy a custom cover and make sure it fits well. Nothing is worse than a cheap cover.
  2. Apply that idea to any carrot stick lol. I think he means that he doesnt want his medium to act like a medium light.
  3. 15lb wouldnt be too bad. I like using straight fluoro either 6 or 8lb test.
  4. When fishing a topwater it is smart to always have a similiar colored plastic bait tied on. If a bass hits a topwater to hurt a fish it will come back in search of it. If you toss in a wacky rig or something it will assume that is what it hit on the surface. I catch a ton of bass and smallies this way.
  5. kvd 1.5 is the best bang for your buck but they do break. With a sale the spro little johns are the best.
  6. I dont have my own culling beam but most of my boaters do. I like having the scale for a personal best reference. My club has a certified digital scale and ive weighed fish on the boga and then that and the boat was a little light.
  7. The 7ftmh is a great push pole for fishing in shallow water.
  8. Toss up between table rock and Kentucky lake for me. Sure LOZ boosted my jerkbait confidence but it did nothing for me. You can get on a spring time a rig bite on the rock and whack the tick out of them. You can also get on a great bite on kentucky lake.
  9. I think it has to do with the size of the fish. Ive caught tons of big bass on my casting gear and only feel strained if I am using a crankbait rod. I think it has to do with the size and type of fish though. Hooking into a 20lb plus asian carp on my dobyns rod was a hell of a fight even with 15lb test.
  10. we did well fishing for smalies, caught 20+. I dont like putting fish on the ground but i forgot a scale/ bump board.
  11. Forget the yo-zuri and get some seagaur.
  12. Does anyone know what type of scale this is? http://www.bassmaster.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/blog_photo/photo_6_11.jpg Im trying to get a good scale that doesnt cost me an arm and a leg. I like the boga but have had experiences of it weighing light.
  13. Im no expert but my buddy blew his johnson powerhead and didnt pay anywhere north of $2,000. Unless this thing blew up there is no way that fix should cost that much. Ask this mechanic if he wants to take you on a date before he attempts to screw you next time.
  14. For a generic question like this I suggest you read the stickied posts on the forums as well as the fishing articles section here. http://www.bassresource.com/how-to-fish/ . When you finish reading what you are interested in feel free to post up here again or pm me.
  15. Dobyns 735c and a 7:1 ratio lews tournament pro. Close second is my dobyns 765cbglass and 5:4 ratio bb1pro
  16. I agree, I like using all fluoro mainline for most of my rods so the loops get annoying.
  17. After some time it does become a pain to control, I feel like the 15lb size also has line management problems. I'll stick with red label or invizx from here on out. The 12lb I used is the only line that hasnt been an issue for me.
  18. Go with the st croix avid previously recommended. Great rod in your price range.
  19. My oldest is from 1978-1983, it does a great job of collecting dust.
  20. never used the new hmgs but i will buy the olds ones in a heartbeat.
  21. My friend has the electronic steering and I feel like it doesnt have as much control as the cable steer. I feel like I can turn a cable steer much faster. Also less to go wrong with a mechanical steering system than an electronic one.
  22. As a new member I suggest you go post in the introductions section as well as update your profile. Besides that I need to know your price range for this rod and also what type of crankbaits. For deep divers and lipless baits I use a dobyns 765cb glass rod. For medium divers I use a POS quantum kvd rod that I dont recommend. For shallow divers I use a fenwick hmg 6'6" medium. If I had the money I would use all dobyns crankbait rods. This may be out of your price range but the fenwick hmg is pretty cheap, granted I use the older model.
  23. My friend is somewhat of a chatterbait expert and his favorite is the d&m custom baits piranha. The original chatterbaits break often and arent worth what they cost. The chatterbait elites arent much better and at that point pay extra for the D&M. I cant say much about the strike kings ones but if you want a nice chatterbait go with the d&m.
