Where's JT Bagwell, anyway?
Anyone seen him around? The last I know he was going fishing with his father-in-law and brother-in-law. Maybe he's in trouble with the wife if he didn't "let" them out fish him.... ;D

1964, 12' Jon Boat restoration
SWEEEETT, Nice Job, LBH!! Everything looks great, paint job, carpeting, seats. But I really like the handles on the back...Nice touch!! Was the storage hole under the front seat always there? Also, the foot rest areas on the top side of the boat...good idea! That is a very sweet boat, you should be proud!

Bummed, garage too small for potential "new&q
Great ideas, guys. I appreciate it. Gambler, to be honest, no, I didn't measure it the way yiu described. I'll have to go back and do that. Sounds like it might work. Unfortunately, I am going to give up alot of gararge space....I know, i'm whining........ :'( ;D Thanks again!

Boat dolly, now thats an idea. Thanks for the idea, MP. I am the type that uses my garage alot. It is not used for just storage. I am a neat freak. The garage floor is painted, get's mopped every week. You could eat off the floor. Anyway, It would be difficult to do much in there with the boat taking up all the space. But the boat dolleys might be a way to go!!

Sorry for my misspellings in the original post. The Subject line should have read, Bummed, garage too small for potential "new boat". I was in a hurry , sorry!

I'm still looking for a new used boat. Saw one today, Fisher 175 w/135HP Merc, etc. Anyway, I took the tape measure to it and the boat on trailer, is probably 2-3 inches longer that the depth of my garage, (yes, it has the swing away hitch)plus the width of the boat is such that I wouldn't be able to get to my workbench, (it would butt up beside it) and the other side would stick out about 4-5 inches in front of the entrance of the door leading to the house. My H20 heater is stuck int he same corner as the side the workbench is on. So I couldn't use that side anyway, if I decided to move the workbnench. The other side of the garage has the door leading to the outside, plus shelves, refrigerator, etc. So I couldn't store it on that side, beside,s then it would be blocking the door to the house even more. I checked out the price od storage units for the boat, MAN arte they expensive. Besides, I currently have a smaller boat that fits fine and I emjoy haveing the boat there to piddle around with and handy to have around when getting ready the night before. I really didn't want to have to rent something and have to run out each Friday night to retrieve it, etc. Anyone have any creative ideas how to address this issue? PS: I really don;t want to store the boat in the driveway in the neighborhood. It would tick off the neighbors if you know what I mean.

my confidence is shifty
I went through the same feelings about a month ago. I thought my fishing sucked and couldn't get anything to hit. A couple fo weekends of catching some finally started bringing back my confidence. Now, I honestly feel I can go out and catch fish with confidence. It's not "if" but "when". Shake it off, el jewapo, it will come back!

Fishing for Spotted Bass
I had a great awakening on Monday. A pal and me went fishing to my regular place. He took me to some spotted bass locations. All he fished with were brush hogs. I fished those and some finesse worms. It seems spotted bass act more like Smallmouth than LM.?? They like rip rap, and seem to move around more. Anybody have any other types of baits that seem to work well for Spots?

Bill Dance #3 in Greatest Angler Debate!
You know, the fact of the matter is, there are and have been probably a bunch of old codgers around the country that no one has ever heard of, that could be considered the best angler. I am sure all of us know some old coot from way back that could outfish anyone around. I know I do! If you agree with the premise, then all this other talk about the best angler is really moot. IMHO. Otherwise, in my book, Bill Dance is probably right where he needs to be. (I am sure some of my feelings are due to my sentimental favorite)

Just to say thanks...

making sure they are largemouths.......
It could be a spotted bass. I too havebeen fishing and catching some bass and have confused myself into thinking all were largemouth, when infact some were spotted bass. Here is some info I picked off the internet for you. BTW, ditto to what Alandis said, she is a cutie! She's a "keeper"! ;D ;D "The spotted bass is a species that is often confused by anglers with its larger cousin the largemouth bass. Although the fish are similar in appearance and nature their choice of habitat separates the species. Where largemouth are structure-oriented fish, spotted bass do not generally rely on cover. They will often hold in areas that have some sort of definition, like larger rocks or dropoffs, but they normally do not use the cover like a largemouth would. They also will inhabit much deeper water than most largemouths. Another difference between the spotted and the largemouth bass is their size. Spotted bass are considerably smaller, reaching a maximum of about 24 inches in length. The Georgia state record spotted bass came from Lake Lanier and weighed 8 lbs. 5 oz, but the average will be just a couple of pounds. The coloration of spotted bass s is very similar to that of the largemouth. The most noticeable difference is the addition of rows of black spots on the lower half of the side of the body. Factors such as the water clarity and depth that the fish has been living in can affect coloration making this a harder identification tool. The mouth of the spotted bass extends beyond the middle of the eye but not beyond the eye like the largemouth's. The easiest characteristics to distinguish between the largemouth and the spotted bass are the size of the mouth and the appearance of the dorsal fin. The spotted bass has a dorsal fin that is clearly connected, while the largemouth appears to have two separate fins.

Low budget, nice pics. My comments were due to your somewhat arrogant comments about, "unless you have pictures to back up your mouth, don't speak!" There are many people who have been on this site a heck of a lot longer than you. I think for your comments to be stated here the way you stated was a little strong. Everyone here has talked about their catches and mostly without pictures. Lighten up! :-* ;D

float tube/belly boat?
I'll bet you could find an old used jon boat for the price you would pay for a tube (pontoon or otherwise) plus the flippers, etc. You could probably pick one up for $100. Seems I 've seen posts on this forumfrom folks who have found them. Just a thought.

Tube's
You might be able to attach one of those coiled type ropes to the bottomof your rod. Kinda like the line you attach to your wrist to the kill switch on a personal watercraft.?. ???

What is it...?
That makes one spend 3-4 hrs a day on this site? That makes one "WANT" to go out and completley clean up the boat the night before fishing? That makes one want to continually change reel/rod combinations until it is perfect? That makes one want to get up at 4:30 in themorning when the gate to the lake doesn't open until 7:00? That makes one continually buy new baits to be sitting next to the other baits that haven't even touched the water yet? That makes one...... Well, you all know what I'm talking about! ;D
