  1. I'm in the market for a new frog rod this summer (yeah, i know how soon that is). I'm very partial to Dobyns has I get a discount. Anyone have any Champion series that they use for frogs? EDIT: Looking at the D736
  2. d**n dude. I have a Skeet Reese Flippin rod for my froggin rig. I have it paired with a Lew's Tournament Pro with 50lb Kanzen braid. I want to upgrade to a Dobyns Champion soon, I'm about to post a thread about it too.
  3. I used to use power pro, I liked it. Tried FX2 and it was super loud, thought it was a bit weird. Have Suffix Performance Braid on my Muskie rod. SX1 is on my finesse rod, mainly just bc it's the only yellow one out there. Kanzen is on my topwater and buzzbait rods, good stuff.
  4. I got a rage rod this spring and it just didn't live up to my expectations, just not the best bottom contact rod. I have a Skeet Reese Flippin rod I use for frogs, works well. So my best advice would look around for a good deal.
  5. I got my friend an Orra STX last spring, didn't make it to the freeze. Was probably just a bad one of the batch. I personally love Lew's reels and I've had several for a couple years and have not had a single problem.
  6. Braid has no stretch, where fluoro does. Although you can find fluoros with different amounts of stretch. I only like braid on topwaters personally, I do also use it on my finesse spinning outfit (with a fluoro leader).
  7. The higher ratio GENERAL implies higher IPT. IPT is definitely something to look for as there can be a difference in reels with the same ratio. Higher IPT reels are used for any baits that used slack line (walk-the-dog baits, frogs, jigs, etc), and lures that you want to retrieve at a high speed (Spinnerbaits, buzzbaits etc).
  8. I use 30lb SX1 braid with a 8lb Invizx leader.
  9. nailed it. Thanks. I'll have to look into it.
  10. I gotta get a 634 first though. Need a jerkbait rod for Table Rock.
  11. I really like Sunline Super FC and Seagaur RedLabel.
  12. Here's my $.02 For the first part, I have the DX745, love it to death. I've heard great things about the D735 from my teammates. In regards to a crankbait rod, I've got my eyes on the 764CB, it is graphite cuz I dislike glass haha!
  13. I'd go with the one good rod for bottom contact. I have a DX745 for jigs and heavier T-rigs, it's excellent all round for both.
  14. I appreciate the tips guys! I am just assembling the jigs, so i will be buying jig heads from siebert. And probably buying skirts from TW with my 30%off. Whats the big deal with living rubber?
  15. Thanks! I'll include them in my newest order!
  16. I always tell learners to lightly feather it until they get the hang of it. I actually have the problem of feathering it too often. I mainly nightfished during my highschool years, and to avoid backlashes we always feathered it a bit too much just because it was hard to untangle a birds nest in the dark.
  17. Is there a culvert or a channel on the southern end? If the water temperature is cooler down there, I'd say that's a good place to hit in the summer. The place marked with an X earlier is still the first place I'd fish. I'd fish there and then work my way south and hit the small bay south of the X on my way there.
  18. I would buy all my swimjigs from you if you sold the 3.8-4.8 FATs (Sungill and Electric Blue)
  19. I can attest to the quality of the DX745, it's the best rod I've ever used. But it is the most expensive by quite a margin too.
  20. This guy knows a good rod. I have a Skeet Reese Stick with a Lew's SuperDuty 8:1 with 50lb Kanzen and 20lb Tatsu leader (best free spool I ever got). I'm looking to upgrade to a D766 Flippin' Stick soon though.
  21. My name is Rob and I'm a Bassaholic. I have: Casting: 1) Quantum Kinetic 6:1 on a 6'6 Acadia MH/F with 10lb Senshi mono for Topwaters and Jerkbaits 2) Lew's TP 7:1 on a 7'0 SC Triumph M/F with 50lb Kanzen braid for Buzzbaits (I night-fish. A lot) 3) Helios 6.2:1 on a 7'0 Lews SL MH/F with 14lb Super FC for Spinnerbaits 4) Lew's BB1 5:1 on a 7'6 Veritas MH/M with 12lb Co-poly for Deeper Cranks 5) Lew's BB1 7:1 on a Skeet Reese Flippin' Stick with 50lb Kanzen for Frogs/Flipping And lastly my baby 6) Lew's SuperDuty 8:1 on a Dobyns DX745 with 14lb Super FC for jigs and plastics Spinning: 1) Pflueger Supreme XT on a 6'10 Fenwick EliteTech M/XF with 30lb SX1 (yellow) and a 8lb Invizx leader for plastics 2) Some Okuma on a 7'0 Carrot Stix with 30lb Suffix braid for the ladies And my newest addition: SC Premier 8'6" MH with a Toro Winch NaCl with 80lb Suffix Performance Braid for my toothy lil'friends. And I only used 2 of them for bass this year... Dobyns and Fenwick. Swimjigs, wacky-rigs and shakey-heads are all I used.
  22. I'm rather surprised how few people use braid. I really like braid for walk the dog baits, the lack of stretch really seems to help that action.
  23. What do you guys throw in early June? Water temp is probly what 75 degrees? I know this is a loaded question, but I'm in the midst of research.
  24. I went late this previous summer, Brent Crow was my guide, he was a good guy, put us on the fish despite the weather.
