  1. Great bait, a real classic. If you're after trout I'd suggest the Gold /black back in F9. Bass seem to prefer a Silver/black in F11.
  2. I like the technique of holding the fish out at arms length, using a wide angle lens to change the perspective. My first thought is usually "wow, that guy has huge hands".
  3. Glad I'm not the only one who loses these things by the handful.
  4. Great video, thanks for your efforts. I learned a lot about spinnerbaits even though I use them a lot. Particularly liked the info on skirts, blade choices and trailers. I'd like to find some spinnerbaits that don't have those humongous hooks that are so common.
  5. I guess it's an opportunity to be mean-spirited.
  6. A couple of points that seem to apply: There is no Magic Lure Don't assume that other fishermen know more than you do.
  7. I'd like to fish Cate Blanchetts lingerie hamper.
  8. Which AZ lake were you fishing? Roosevelt is my "home" lake.
  9. It just looks cooler to have a painted weight. Who cares what the fish thinks - it's about ME and MY needs!
  10. I paint mine with whatever black or dark brown paint I've got, usually Krylon or some decent brand. Don't think you need any special kind of paint. You usually lose them before the paint comes off anyway.

I use a 1/16th with a standard ribbontail worm. It seems to give a slower drop rate than the 1/4 oz weights and I'm not trying to drop my bait through vegetation. I like to work the worm just over the tops of sunken brush and the light weight lets me work it slower with a more natural drop rate.
  12. Really depends on the kind of water you'll use it on. I'd choose a v-hull for bigger water but if you mostly fish shallows or smaller lakes the jonboat has the advantages already mentioned.
  13. I had the same model, took a dive after about a year and a half, couldn't get any readout on the screen, had no idea what it was doing. Replaced it with a Schumacher, much better unit.
  14. I've been doing well this spring using a Zoom U-tail worm behind a 1/16 oz bullet weight. Most effective twitching them over the tops of sunken brush. Black or purple are my choices, haven't really tried any other colors yet.
  15. Trolling is a method I use after 3 or 4 hours of not catching any fish by usual methods. It's a nice break from whipping the rod around, gives me a chance to eat an apple or whatever. One more tool in the fisherman's arsenal.
  16. Glad you like the C3. I cleaned and lubed my 2 year old C3 recently and it made a huge difference. The factory lube must be pretty stiff. BTW, I picked up a Symetre a few months ago and really like it. Hope you can get your problem resolved.
  17. Back in the 60's when I was just a little guy, I drooled over the red Abu Garcia. Looks classic to me. Never got the red one (not sure what that model really is) but picked up a C3 a couple years ago and a C4 last year.

Some anglers feel the contrast between weight and worm are helpful, makes it look like the worm is busy chasing prey. But as mentioned above, probably doesn't make any difference.
  19. Great question, I've been wondering myself. I use a 3/8 oz and don't have the patience to let it drop very far. I'll try some of the suggestions on this post.
  20. OK, I'm going to put an end to this. I'm going fishing tomorrow and I'll catch a legit 23 lber, have it notarized, polarized, xygloed, magnafluxed and X-rayed. Then the debate will be over. Man, I gotta do everything myself!
  21. My choice too - love the versatility.
  22. Nice job, passing the torch.
  23. Cool dog fishing pix - wish I had a fishing dog. I tried to take my cat out on the boat but he exhibited a strong negative reaction. It was a bear just getting him in his life jacket. Maybe if I had started taking him when he was a kitten it would have been better.
  24. A 5-6 pound bass is equivalent to a 5-6 pound bass. At least until we have a federal program to "level the playing field" with respect to fish. Then we can "norm" everyone's catch to some standard weight to assure equality.
