  1. Correct. I remember KVD talking about coming out to Metallica and Saliva songs when he weighs in.
  2. Curious if this method is environmentally safe to be throwing back into the water with?
  3. I do a lot of frog fishing as I've said in many other posts. I'd be glad to help out anyway I can. I fish frogs on weed edges, open water, and in the thickest nastiest stuff. I use a 7' MH/F action rod with a 7.0.1 reel. Typically my line is in the 40lb-65lb braid. No reason to use any other line with a dedicated frog rod. Setting the hook with a nice "One-onethousand" count should do it. More than likely the problem is setting it too fast. Another thing to consider is you want a bit tighter of a drag especially in the slop. Once the fish eat it, they'll dive straight down to the bottom with it. If they wrap that line on a pad or any other bulk of weeds, it'll create slack and they'll spit it. Also you should be setting the hook in an upward position meaning over the top of your shoulder. If you're trying to set the hook on the side you will miss much more.
  4. I have a nice set of Columbia rain gear. Light weight breathable, think it retailed around $80 for the set. It was a gift so not entirely sure.
  5. Glad you figured it out. Go catch some pigs!
  6. This would be the first area to investigate. That is odd that it's bumpy. Maybe one of the Yo-Zuri guru's can offer more insight. I don't use that line so I dont really know but if you had actual line twists to where it was coiling up almost, that definitely could be your problem. Let's see what some other have to say about it and/or let us know what you figure out. I'm curious now.
  7. The best rods are the ones that have a fish on the other end of it.
  8. I would never do that to my guide....ever. Yo Zuri isn't a pure fluoro line and all lines generate heat with friction. Some more than others. Here is my thought of the problem. Is there a chance you spooled up the line too lightly and the noise was coming from the spool and not through the guides? You could have more overruns and gaps in your spool which might be it. I just don't see how the guides would be making that type of sound. Backlashing would also be a result of something with the reel more so than the rod or guides.
  9. I traded a brand new Revo S for a used Citica E from another member here. He's an Abu guy, i'm a Shimano guy. It worked out great for both of us so really you need to get out and try them for yourself to know. You'll get 10,000 opinions here and that can just become more confusing in your decision. If you don't have the luxury of trying one of each out, go with your gut and what feels best in your hands at the store. Once you buy one...........you're going to want more.
  10. Don't you have like 2 or 3 threads on this same sort of topic already? What's the deal?
  11. x2 Really hot water will kill a bite. Search for underwater springs if your lake has them. Usually springs are listed on a map from the DNR.
  12. Could be nothing you're doing. Sometimes they don't want to eat. Also, if your consistently throwing the same thing at them, change it up. Expand your lure selection. Fish in a small pond or lake will become conditioned much more quickly than in a bigger body of water. It could have been just a simple cold front that knocked it dead for a few days. Fishing is a puzzle. It's up to you to put the pieces together. I would start by throwing something different than what you have in the past 4-6 weeks. See what happens from there.
  13. My vote is Chronarch. Curado E's are no longer made, therefore making them more valuable on auction sites or private sales. Don't go forward with anything until you figured out the rod you want to pair with the reel to hit your objective. As mentioned before, it's just as much the rod as the reel when tossing light crankbaits.
  14. Id rather they brought back the Curado E's they had but yes a current 50 series would be great.
  15. Any major retailer. Bass Pro, Cabelas, Dicks, Tackle Warehouse. Chronarch E is current...don't get confused with the previous years of Curado E's which is now the "G" series.
  16. Yes but not nearly as much as mono. You can get Seaguar Red Label for a pretty decent penny. Good luck to you, post some results when you get it figured out.
  17. You probably need to give your hook set just a little more oompf if you were using a fast action rod last time. Then again, too much could cause you to rip them out. Are you opposed to cranking with some fluorocarbon? I think that would help some as it is a bit stiffer than copolymer and mono.
  18. If it's going to be a serious crankbait reel get the 200. More line will serve you better especially if you long line or get up into 17lb lines. I have a 200E5 and a 50e. Love them both so either way you will be happy. Get the E6 if its a multiple task reel. E5 if you plan on deep cranking. E7 would be best for frogging but not absolutely necessary.
  19. Couple of footballs in those pics! Looks like an awesome time.
  20. Welcome to BR. That bass in the middle left is a beast!
  21. Don't get an Ultra light if you plan to bass fish with it. not that you cant catch bass but you'd be better of with a Med or Med/Lt spinning rod if your intentions are solely for bass. You'd be pretty ticked if you tried horsing in a monster bass with an ultralight only for it to take you under the boat and saw your line off because you couldn't control the fish better. The fight would be fun, the results could be tragic. That said, you should keep your 2 bait casters and get a nice all around spinning out fit for yourself. I'm a firm believer that finesse fishing is far better and more productive with a good spinning outfit. I don't finesse fish with bait casters ever but that is me.
  22. x2 I think if you're on a 1 rod budget now, which application do you see yourself using more as the 3 mentioned won't be best suited with just 1 rod. 7' Medium action would be your best bet but will limit you to lure weight.
  23. Your cousin is wrong. Search here on BassResource.com for baitcaster maintenance, oil, grease etc. You'll find a lot of info.
