  1. My father-in-law has a boat in Burnham right on the 50 yd line. We just go trolling for salmon though. I've been toying with the idea of drop shotting by the piers but I have never seen anyone pulling smallies in that harbor. You're technically not supposed to fish in or by the piers. I have seen some monster carp surface there, but not really my thing.
  2. I have a Stradic FJ 2500, Ci4 2500, and a Symetre FJ 2500. They are all awesome reels and perform flawlessly. You can't go wrong with any of the 3.
  3. FIB's fund probably 2/3 of that annual income. I can't say that I agree with all the DNR decisions in Wisconsin, as I have my gripes about certain things. IL management is a joke though.
  4. Match the forage. If there is shad......go with pearls/chartreuse. If there are lots of gills, something related. Night/low light fishing, go with something dark. Zoom flukes come in a million different colors and you can dye them to customize to your liking.
  5. Best conditions are when bait fish are balled up or being chased. Fluke is deadly all the time though and typically always find a bite. There really isnt a "bad" time for it imo. It's one of those baits I always bring with me.
  6. I had mentioned this in a previous post but glad you figured it out. I still don't crank my drag all the way down but I do tighten it more than the norm on my frog specific rod. Enjoy the topwater action. It's the best!
  7. Does the weedless Hudd come with or without hooks? If not, what do you rig it with? I've never fished Hudds but after the excellent reviews from the members here I'd like to give them a try.
  8. Found it. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/116697-anyone-ever-used-a-bluegill-twitch-bait-im-confused/
  9. Happy Birthday. Have a great one!
  10. You're setting yourself up for a trip down to county. If you specifically called and they said "NO", then you shouldn't be there. Trespassing is trespassing. My advice is to find a new spot or you will end up getting caught at some point.
  11. What happened with your Flea Bay purchase of that really odd looking swimbait with no hooks. Ever fish that thing? Sorry to get off topic, I was looking for that thread.
  12. As always, amazing fish. I *** you. I must plan an Erie trip soon.
  13. In case anyone is interested, Overstockbait has Uncle Josh pork trailers on sale for $1.99 a jar right now. That Rage Tail selection is in the 1.99 section as well. Anacondas, Lobsters, Shad, Frog, and Craws all for 1.99 a package. STEAAAAAAAAAAAAAL.
  14. It's a pickeral. They look a bit different from a Northern Pike.
  15. Just clean and lube it good just as you would at the beginning of the season.. It'll be fine. Just don't let it sit for days.
  16. Give it a taste...
  17. You don't have to get top of the line punching gear to do it. Get some 1/2-1oz lead bullet weights, some bobber stops (or make your own), some flipping hooks of the brand to your liking, and a package of beaver style baits or any punching bait (think slender). You're missing out if you're not doing it especially in the hot summer months. The technique is open to any water that holds thick vegetation. Give it a try, might be a new technique you fall in love with. Punch skirts, tungsten weights, and high end flipping hooks can be introduced later when you get a feel for how punching works. Who knows, you may not end up liking it and not wanting to do it. Let us know how you do.
  18. Just wet and clean. No soap needed. You probably don't need to clean them yet but it wouldn't hurt anything. U40 will keep the cleaning to a minimum.
  19. Thanks A-Jay. Nice little site and will remember for any time in the future. I had to get it done this weekend. From what I see, I would have saved only about 50 bucks by ordering online. If I had a better time frame and not in such a hurry I'd done it.
  20. didn't you go throw an A-rig a week or two ago out there? I was curious if it produced for you or not.
  21. Most of my big bass are on frogs, hollow belly swimbaits, or a jig.
  22. Fox Lake Multi. He was fishing out of a Jon Boat type of rig with probably one rod. He's not an addict like we are. I'm assuming you were talking about the club tourney then...
  23. I use 2 brakes on most of my Shimano reels. I think you'll be fine and gain a little more distance. Just remember, you don't need to swing for the fences to send your bait a long way especially anything over 3/8 oz+. Train your thumb well and you won't have any worries. Glad to hear of your success.
  24. My buddy fished it. He caught two shorts only but he's not really an avid fisherman.
  25. Great post! What did you use to snap that image of the smallie on the bed?
