  1. Once the water temps drop down in the 40's the bass fishing changes . Suspending jerk baits might be the only things that work . If bass are found deep a blade bait may work . I still try my warmer weather lures , just have to fish them slow .
  2. Spillways are pretty good . Strike king Rocket Shads fished down stream along the rocks , if there are any will catch a lot of different species . Cast upstream , retrieve downstream ..
  3. I read one time that Guido Hibdon would fish a tube in wood with light line . When he got a bite he would gently pull the fish out then set the hook .
  4. For three hundred fifty dollars I'd get two combos .
  5. I didnt even know Black/blue was such a popular choice for muddy waters until joining this forum . I always used it in clear to stained with great success . In heavily stained water I opted for black/chartreuse .
  6. A sad day for the bass world .
  7. Fresh Salmon .
  8. You could strip the insulation off some electrical wire .
  9. I think they do at times . Other times they discourage bigger fish . Like every other aspect in this sport , there are no rules .
  10. I stay in the middle . There are times where I catch bass on a small blade bait but thats a last ditch thing for me .
  11. There are no good guys in Yellowstone .
  12. Thats something I would use in the spring or muddy water . A 5 gold willow with a 2 chrome Colorado is what I like then .
  13. I like Ozark even better . I dont like vampires , zombies ,hip hoppers that sort of stuff . Yellowstone and Ozark I get into . The Queens Gambit is my favorite , I watched it twice .
  14. I'm ready for the new season .
  15. I only have them from the 80's and did not know they were any different than todays . One of my favorite baits , especially in the immediate post spawn . I had trouble with some of them filling up with water .
  16. I like this combo so much that I bought a second one . 7 foot mh Okuma Epixor paired with a Piscifun Phantom . I throw just about everything on it .
  17. He actually finished tied for tenth place . He lost out because the other guy had a heavier one day limit . Wouldnt that be a kick in the teeth .
  18. I probably have a dozen Hellbenders and Bomber Water Dogs . Dont remember ever using them , they were given to me . I heard they did not dive quickly and steeply so were better utilized as a trolling lure rather than a casting lure .
  19. I caught one this year that had a hook and line in its mouth that was tangled up in the brush . I had to cut the other line in order to retrieve the fish . Heres the kicker , it was a hook that I use , probably my hook . The brush is thick and I had to break my line . A week or two later I hook it again .
  20. I still have some . Havent been used in awhile . They work good in rock . A buddy and I threw them one night on a riprap dam and both limited out .We kept twenty , 12 inch bass . Thats back in the days where the limits were more lenient and there were more big bass .
  21. I carry three knives when fishing . A Swiss Army knife in my left pocket . A one handed opening knife [Sanrenmu } that clips to my right pocket . A Leatherman on my belt .
  22. I cant help much especially if the water is muddy . The water raising that much , I fish shallow . I'll target points because bass were there before the deluge . I have fished newly flooded pond dams with good success , guard rails along boat ramps ,boat ramps, rip rap and especially incoming culverts .
  23. I havent fished one for years . Still have a couple , dont know what brand . I use to fish them in early spring with a pork frog trailer , swim them up to wood then kill it . I also use to gurgle them on top but it was difficult to maintain the proper speed and rod angle to get them to gurgle long distances . It worked though but scrapped the technique favor of buzzbaits .
  24. No matter the weather , I am still going to fish in the same places " cover and structure" bass like to hang out at . Just have to keep experimenting and hope bites start happening .
  25. There are no rules . Just go fishing . Many a times I went the day after cold stormy , rainy days and caught bunches . Happened just last week . 6 inched of rain in two days . I caught two dozen on the bright cloudless day following .
