  1. I still say hit the creeks . The current is ferocious here , high and muddy . Where the creek is at there is a big eddy .
  2. Try to be stealthy . Bass do get shy . If you see the fish you know where they are . Next time stay low , use lighter line just try not to be seen .
  3. Hazel creek has been drawn down for weed control . Conservation dept does not recommend trying to launch a boat . " largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits; all other species slow; water level is extremely low due to weed management; NOTICE boat landing use not advised. (Reported on: 4/17/18)"
  4. Flooded rivers are the worst .A lot of bass move to creeks and ditches where there is less current .
  5. I've done the plug thing a couple of times and took off with the trolling motor down too . I also Forgot to remove the transom straps before launching .
  6. I use 17 lb XL blue fluorescent on my worm rod . Its only .015 inches diameter . I lost a large fish on a crankbait last year using 12 lb Big Game . I'm not going to stop using it . I figure it was a bad knot , nick it the line or maybe even a walleye with sharp teeth .
  7. Me to . I always walk the entire spool off in the lawn then wind it in . This removes all twist and takes five minutes .
  8. One of my favorite baits for "mud" is a jig n pig fished tight in downed trees and brush . Black and orange , or black and chartreuse . The Denny Brauer rattling jigs are an excellent choice .
  9. No ,but someone on a four wheeler was playing a Folsom Prison Blues recording during part of the trip . Seriously , my sister in law kept yelling " Yehaw " . I was telling her to shut up , not to make fun of the locals . Its a good way to get shot .
  10. I need to give it a third go . Every-time I have tried one , I make a few cast then switch to a spinner-bait .
  11. I'm still wearing a winter coat . This is weird .
  12. Marker buoys . I use them most trips .
  13. I f you dont have power poles a couple of good anchors come in handy . My cousin and I anchored two consecutive days on a windy point to win a 500 boat tourney .
  14. I like to fish for quantity and quality . Catch as many fish as i can and hope some kickers show up but this is with a fifteen inch keepers .
  15. Smith lake in . i have some sight fishing guys ,power fishermen and 1 spotted bass , deep water, finnese angler . Eleven dollars left .
  16. What is the length limit ?
  17. Lures can overlap . If you think fish are in laydowns for example there are several lures that can be effective . Spinnerbaits , t-rigs, jigs , squarebills and buzzbaits will work . just keep at it and if you do catch fish pay attention to where that laydown is . Same thing goes for other cover and structure . if I'm fishing a point for ex. there are at least three lure categories I will try before giving up on it .
  18. You just have to play it by ear . A person can be correct in lure choice and just be in the wrong place . A person can assume that bass are shallow up the creeks and get skunked in one and load up in the next .Bass fishing is funny like that .
  19. I have a couple and have only used them a couple of times with no luck . You know how that goes . Put the lure away and forget about it . They are probably good lures .
  20. Sometimes colors matter . I was tearing them up on chartreuse pumpkin and these two guys were wanting to buy them from me . I told them I didnt have anymore but had five bags . I use black/blue and the purples , if ones working the other probably is to .
  21. Are you going to get a day to practice or show and go ?
  22. Found while canoeing down the Cuiver River Missouri .
  23. Off topic but the local hillbillies hang hog carcases off bridges . The flies lay eggs , maggots fall in the water creating an automatic fish feeder . In the bottom photo you can see the ripples in the water from the feeding fish .
  24. Haha . A friend of mine had to take some guys from work crappie fishing . I got on the bass fast that day and had a limit of fifteen inchers in an hour . I knew where they were fishing , so pulled up and released the limit in front of them . I loved every second of it .
