8In Manns Jelly Worm
They are not better nor are they worse . I have just used them for so long that I have the most confidence in them . I'm use to the thickness , action and softness . New mainstream plastic worm by the more popular current manufacturers is not an upgrade .

Cold Water River Bass Fishing? Tips?
I go below a dam on a small river occasionally in the winter . I just hope to catch a fish or two . Somedays I will catch several with white bass , crappie or walleye mixed in . My best spot is a small chute out of the current and my most successful lure has been a clear crappie grub with flake on a 1/16th ounce black jig head with white eyes and black pupil. I was talking with my uncle one day who fishes the same spot in the winter and he told be that he catches twice the fish with a jig head that has eyes , reconfirming what I thought .

8In Manns Jelly Worm
I received some too and I was disappointed in the lack of smell . The blueberry color works well even in stained water . The Spike it Markers work great on this color . It takes a chartreuse tail well and a red stripe gives it a fantastic look . T rig them and the fish will bite it . I dont use the tiny weights like a lot of people . I will usually use a 1/4 ounce sinker on an 8 incher. That faster fall , in my experience is the ticket to 50 to 100 fish days .

Whats Your Go-To Bass Lure?
I'm glad to see the love for the Jelly Worm. Just got 160 in the mail yesterday . Black grape , Blueberry , Motor Oil are the old colors I use . This year i had a lot of luck on Watermelon Chartreuse . The last day I went fishing this year I had a school of 1 to 2 lb bass located on a point with a marker buoy marking the spot. A boat slowly trolled out to me to see what the heck i was using . He was friendly and apologized but was getting skunked and he said " I never seen anyone catch as many fish as you " I invited him to fish the spot and he still could not catch any . I was using a Manns six inch chartreuse watermelon worm , gave him three and he then put a couple of bass in the boat . He wanted to buy the rest of the bag but I refused to sell them . I bet he went home and placed an order .

Finesse Worms
I think we could use this sentence from Finesse worm fishing Chapter three too every other thread on this forum . "But the true experts that I've come across, the most successful, don't seek rules. They rely on hard work, time spent, and trial and error as their basic tools."

I Really Need Some Advice Guys...please
Branch out to other lures and techniques , they all work .You are severely handicapping yourself I fish the Mississippi river and tributaries . Chartreuse Bomber Flat A is a good bait for me also anything that sinks and has a built in action like small compact spinnerbaits " Rocket shad is a good choice " , lipless cranks ...Cast these lures upstream along the rip rap banks at different depths . Let them sink to the bottom , even out in deeper water . Once they hit bottom lift the lure immediately and retrieve staying close to the bottom the entire retrieve . When fishing rip rap you must keep the bait close to it ,if your not bumping rocks or close to it the entire retrieve your not catching fish . Im guessing you have a depth finder . Look offshore . Get some marker buoys and start marking places and fish them . Are there gulls there ? I always watch gulls closely . They know where the good fishing spots are . Just try to gain experience each time you go fishing and dont limit yourself. I take it that this is a river system with some current . Is this correct or a lake with no current ?

Poured Some Craws
Those top ones look like the craws in Table rock Lake. I was fishing a jig n pig {pork} in about 20 foot of water and my jig felt a little heavy . I slowly reeled it in and there was a crawfish holding on to it , with bright orange tips on the pincers . I then switched to an orange pork frog and caught a couple of keepers .

Jigging Spoons
I use the small CC spoons for lots of species of fish in the stained water of NE missouri. I usually use them from 10 to 15 foot sometimes a little deeper . The only other time I used them was at Table Rock lake one autumn . I bought a bunch of homemade 1/2 ouncers from a tackle shop there and caught quite a few spotted bass on points but also ended up snagging and losing every one of them . Most of the snags were from fishing line .

How To Fish A Jig
I watch my line where it enters the water and I'm feeling for a slight tic as the bait is falling . I dont let the bait fall on a tight line but on a semi slack line and I follow it down with the rod tip, that is , I drop the rod tip at the same speed the lure is falling . If I'm lucky I feel the bite or see the line move a bit , but half the time I have no clue that a bass has taken the bait . When the bait is lifted back up , I am actually weighing the line . If it feels slightly heavier then I set the hook . Thats the way I do it with all bottom bouncing lures . Jigs . t rigs , traps , blade baits...

What Kind Of Fish Finders Are You Guys Running?
I have an Eagle Fishmark 320 that is mounted on a gutted electric motor . Cut the shaft short and the transducer is on the bottom with the wire running inside . I use it on jon boats and canoes .

Bourbon (And All Things Whiskey. Or Whisky, If You Like Scotch)
I like whiskey and coke but usually stick with cheap stuff. I have never found a cheap bourbon that l like so Canadian Club is my usual choice .I can find it for ten dollars a bottle . If I splurge I get Jim Beam Black , Jack , or Crown .

Bass Catchin Questions
I have caught bass in a river during the coldest months , as long as it hasnt froze . I simply look for current breaks and fish small grubs on the bottom . A black jig head with white eye and black pupil teamed with a clear grub with flake in it has been a good lure . I dont catch a lot and they are most always little during these times ,but I just like to get out .

Who Makes The Best Hooks
Texas rigging a skinny worm like a 6 inch jelly worm I use the regular offset hooks of many brands. If its a little dull like the Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp I just touch it up with a diamond file and its ready to go . Fatter baits I use wider gap hooks . I like for the gap to be twice the thickness of the bait .

Noise
^^ this I dont know of a fish as spooky as a carp . But where is the best place to catch them on the Mississippi river . That noisy spot where they fill the barges with grain .
