  1. I fished during a solar eclipse and didnt catch anything but the owls got noisy .
  2. Maybe . There was no visible thermocline on the sonar and there has been a strong one all summer. The surface temp was 72 degrees at ten in the morning .

  4. You need a few basic lures and understanding when to use them . Rick Clunn said a tackle box is like a tool box and a lure is a tool . Choose the proper tool for the job at hand . I dont know the makeup of the water you are going to fish . So ask yourself what you want a lure to do then acquire a lure that will accomplish that chore .
  5. Well ,naturally when you retrieve it , the lure is going to rise , eventually . Just stop after a few turns of the reel handle and see how far it drops to hit bottom .
  6. That fish must have rocks in his head .
  7. Walking baits are one lure I have had trouble with . I can walk them real well but the bass just have never hooked up good for me .
  8. Dont ever share your good mushroom spots .
  9. Hers an example .I took this guy fishing . He doesnt have a boat . We have a good day fishing this spot. One day I'm talking to another fisherman. He tells me that he took the same guy fishing and he showed him the spot where we fished . It was no big deal but just goes to show .
  10. ...and I carry a lantern if I'm staying after dark .
  11. Heres my rule of thumb that I break often . When I am casting at visible targets I usually start with rattleless baits. When I am casting at structure that is not visible I usually throw baits that rattle .
  12. I just posted this in the other fall fishing post , so I will copy and paste here . "Went out today for the first time in a month. The lake had turned over and there was al lot of fish showing up around 14 foot .I went to a point and was throwing a rapala DT 14 and a deep diving Strike King crankbait . I would throw the lures in 10 to 15 foot of water on top of the point. The crankbait would hit bottom and most of the strikes came after the lure came off the point and lost contact with the bottom. I caught around 50 bass 12 to 15 inches like that . It was fun ."

  14. This happened many years ago.It was November or December and I was the only person at the 80 acre lake I was alone and launching my 15 foot Skeeter tri hull but it was not in the water far enough . So I get in the vehicle and back it in a little farther and the wheels go off the end of the ramp and my boat which is now unhooked floats away . I cannot get my trailer out, its stuck off the end of the ramp . I walk through the campground and found someone to help me. I wade out in the water and its freezing , lift the trailer up and the guy drives it out . Now I have to retrieve my boat which is still running . It floats about a quarter mile away and gets stuck in a weed bed . I walk to it and then have to swim out and climb in . It was freezing but it was the only way to get it .I get it back to the ramp load up and go home .
  15. You're fishing clear water , try the Sharpie trick . It cant hurt and I think at times like in clear water with finicky bass it helps . Color your line in one too two inch strips several feet up , It breaks up the profile .
  16. Never used a Booyah spinnerbait but Ihave had worse happen with others . Most recently A Storm Spin Shad . It was catching fish like mad and then one came off. The wire broke and all I had left was a piece of wire and the blade .
  17. When I fish from bank , I pack light , generally using lures that sink like T-rigs and prerigged swim baits .If I need a top water then I just change presentations. I can take a pack of Zoom Lizards , a couple of hooks and weights and fish the entire water column. If i want to fish on top I rig it weightless and use a big heavy hook to aid in casting .
  18. I'm confused.What advanced portion ?
  19. The first bass club I was in all the boats were john boats .
  20. I think its pretty cool .Be easy to pee off of .
  21. What kind of line are you using and if you can see them they can see you. Popular belief "here" is that bass cannot possibly be line shy , lure shy... but they can be .
  22. I bought several of those Luck E Strike Jogger worm kits . I caught a lot of fish on every color. One color did not out perform the other and it got to the point where I would just pick one randomly .
  23. You never know . I would have never thought to do that .
  24. 1/2 ounce is the heaviest jig I ever used . 3/8 ounce is what I use most of the time . I can pitch a 3/8 ounce with trailer really well .
