  1. It looks like the Rapala DT6 is the greatest riprap crankbait ever made, according to Bass Resource members.
  2. ^ Crimp the rivet with some side cutters. Hold it out the window on the way to the fishin hole. Or take some small pliers of some kind and squeeze the contact points as hard as you can, try to make little grooves that will squeal loudly. Buzzbait anglers love that squeal.
  3. I usedv1/8th and 1/4 but wasnt using them in heavy current.
  4. I make my own and squeeze the lip of the rivet and the lip of the blade with a pair of pliers as hard as I can. This creates little ridges which squeal louder than any bait I have heard. I crimp the rivet on the wire so it doesnt spin. Berkley has a new bait out and they are now putting ridges on the contact points .
  5. Bomber Prop A which are not available, destroys post spawn females on cover and points leading away from spawning areas. Bagley makes the Bang-O-Lure with the prop that is similar. For fry guarders I like a lizard. Being water is usually to murky to see bass, nest or fry a spinnerbait is what I throw the most .
  6. I havent caught much on jigs since I ran out of Larew Salt Craws.
  7. Its getting interesting.
  8. I make my own with a spinnerbait mold with no hook or wire form. I will insert a piece of wire for the hole. I have 1/8th, 1/4 , 3/8th, and 1/2 oz ones.
  9. I bought some jigs at Sheels, dont remember the manufacturer. They come through brush real well. The eye is recessed into the head.
  10. Some jigs are not made for cover. What jigs are you using? I dont fish jigs much anymore because I have more success with texas rigs. I cant explain it, I use to catch lots of bass with them.
  11. I use to sell them as a kid. Kept them in the basement in good black soil . Fed them coffee grounds. I was a kid and the more the better and ended up over-crowding a lot. These were local night crawlers . I dont know if the candians are the same. I got a quarter a dozen for them.
  12. I did something similar in front of my camper I had on Mississippi back water protectected by a levee. I kept throwing junk I found in front, even a kitchen sink. The water got low and all this junk was visible. It really trashed the site up. I had to move it all out .
  13. Bomber Model 6A.
  14. Did you see Swindell with his hat off? He has tan lines through the mesh and around the snap back. He needs a different hat ,LOL.
  15. Fill in the blank The "________" is the greatest rip rap crankbait ever made.
  16. I had an aggresive goose giving me fits yesterday. Nothing as scary as a gator but he didnt want me around his lady at all.
  17. WRB taught me to look for the life zone with sonar. The depth that most of the bait fish are holding at, then fish the structure "points" at that depth.. Made a lot of sense and I dont know why I didnt figure that out on my own.
  18. Yesterday. Recent rains have muddied up portions of a small lake I fished. Could not get a bite in the muddy sections with about 2 inches of visibility. Spinnerbait with double magnum willow blades on wood and a Bomber Model A on rip rap get bit in cleaner water.
  19. Ive been making them for twenty years. I take a half a stick bait and thread skirt material through it with a sewing needle and fish them on a jighead. I dont use bright colors. Red or white gets nibbled on by sunfish.
  20. Dont know if you remember Aldo Rosado but he was made fun of on here for his fondness of the pink Rattle Trap.
  21. Crankbait on rock, spinnerbait on everything else.Maybe add in a top water , texas rig or jig but last week it was cranks and spinnerbait.I'll be fishing tomorrow about fifty miles from th Iowa border.
  22. Used it fot the first time last week. Landed two of the six fish hooked including a big one. The hooks are inadequate.I'm changing those tiny things out. It cast great.
  23. I cant tell but is that a dragons head?
  24. I fish three lakes of about 200 acres a lot. Most of it I'm casting at visible targets. I pretty much stay with old reliables. Cranks, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, top waters , Texas rigs , jigs, tubes. I just start fishing at the ramp and work my way around. I average about 40 fish a day with some big fish thrown in. Rip rap dams, standing timber, beaver houses, laydowns , vegetation and whatever else I come across gets fished. I try to outcast everybody else. The best casters get the luckiest.
