Dig out my plastic boat and fish this isolated little lake I discovered, A local told me there were monster crappies in it. If there are monster crappie , there are monster bass.

My strengths are still under development. I dont fish tourneys so only competing with other recreational anglers. With no time restraints, I stay out longer than most. More hours fishing , more fish caught. I am putting in a lot more hours in shallow cover than I use too, so been refining my casting accuracy. I only carry a few rods so unlike tournament anglers I cant match my rod and reel to the lure like they can . I have to match my lure to my rod and reel in order to effectively cast into tight spots.

When I got heavily into bass fishing there were more bad days than good days. I fished anyways, hour after hour of fruitless casting. So, yeah I'm tenacious. I thought the poor fishing was due to being in the wrong places, or using the wrong lure ...but no, I just was bad at casting. I thought I was good but I stunk.

Had a good day last spring with a 6 fish 24 lb limit .

2023 All Star squad. Note the spinner on the rear of the Long A. Most productive top-water plug I ever thrown . River smallmouths were caught on this tube\craw lure . Dont know the name of it. Just had a pack lying around.

One thing that I failed to comprehend in the OP's post is it sounds like he is bowling on synthetic lanes and experiencing carry down . I bowl on wood lanes and dont have to deal with carry down . I try to avoid friction on wood lanes. Synthetic I try to find it.

My ball speed has dropped so much in recent years due to age and arm injuries. I can no longer throw down and in. The ball hooks too much . I have moved inside , in the oil and play a tighter line. My feet and target has moved left.

I learned that I do not fish correctly and use the wrong equipment. 😀

I dont know the name but I use one to check how short a bass is. I keep the ones under the slot. Dont want a fish that touches 12". The game wardens will manipulate that fish every way possible to get it to measure 12"s.

Been an avid bowler since the 70's. Averaged 200 at one time. When I was at my peak , my first move when the lanes dried up was to throw it harder and loft it further. After that I moved left. That Hy Road is a good ball .A guy on my team throws one. It continues through the pin deck well .

I'm 5 for 5 now. Talked about dog food and got Pet Smart ads. Talked about Tractor Supply and got herbicide ads.

Experiment number three. Sex toys. I started talking about how all our sex toys are wore out , old and smelly. LOL then started visiting websites . Havent got any sex toy ads yet but the first one on Youtube was for erectile dysfunction.

My son told me that the internet listens to us when we talk . I really did not believe him so did an experiment. I talked about getting some new tires, we had enough money and needed new ones... When I logged onto bassresource there was a Goodyear tire ad at top and on the side. Ok , that doesnt prove anything , so I changed the conversation to getting a new car. Logged back on bass forums and there was a Ford advertisement, Went to a weather site and there was Kia. Mazda on Youtube . Back to Bass Forum and there was Chevrolet. I dont know what to think about that. Back to Bassresource and there is Kia and Yukon Denali ads. This was done on a laptop . I'm not complaining about ads but dont like the idea of being eavesdropped on .

Gear snobs throw a hissy fit when I mention this but Piscifun Phantoms. I picked them up on sale for around forty dollars, I have five of them now . My first one is four years old and has caught an estimated 1000 fish . It still performs like a champ. There is no "rumble" feeling on the retrieve like I get from other reels after heavy use. They have been discontinued so I'm keeping an eye out on sales to try another model.

When I was a kid I received a Flatfish and Lazy Ike for Christmas, cant remember ever catching anything on them .Wish I still had them though.

The clearer the water the more I tone down the colors and blades.

Some of the lakes around here have off limit hours but fishing is allowed. They are just keeping the partying away.
