Jigs - Braid with Fluoro Leader - Advice
I like to use about 18" - 24" or so, but if you are already convinced an 8' leader is necessary by a "pro" then by all means, take his advice.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
It didn't take long to break the 7 lb mark in 2021. Only my second outing of the year and I caught this one. Alarm was set for 6:45 this morning and when I woke up it was 23 degrees. I decided to stay home for a little bit and finally headed out about 9:00. I decided I was going to fish a lake that I haven't fished since last Spring. Got to the lake about 9:45 and I was the only vehicle in the parking lot, I figured that was a bad sign. Got launched and the water was 43 with an air temp of 30. Made a run to a place I thought they might be and threw an Alabama rig and a jerkbait with no luck. Made a move to a different spot and tried the same thing with the same results. Grabbed a Spro Wameku lipless in delta craw and started throwing in over some rocks. Got hung up once and decided to get a little bit deeper. Threw it in about 8 fow and thought I was hung up again, then the line started moving but it wasn't pulling hard at all. I thought I had a turtle or something. She finally came to the top and rolled on her side and my mouth dropped. She made a dive and then she basically gave up. I grabbed the net and scooped her up. I thought she might have been heavier than she was, but she was only 22" long and weighed in at 7 lb 1 oz. Only fish I caught today, but I will take it.

Mono Users: Green, Camo, or Clear?
Clear only for me.

More than meets the eye...
Alabama rigs and swim baits. I am headed out here in a few hours and I will try them both and probably end up empty handed. I can catch white bass on an A rig but that's about it. I guess I don't have the patience for a swim bait.

Rod sensitivity question
I don't claim to be much of a stick, but IMO an x-fast is the most sensitive rod in my hands when all others are equal. I would love for Shimano to make a 7'0 - 7'2 MH or H x-fast Expride. I have two pf the 7'2 MH f, a 7'2 H f and a 7'3 XH f and I love them, but I have a 7' MH xf Curado and I have become a huge fan of it and I know the blank isn't nearly as good as the Expride. All of this may stem from an old Crucial rod I had that was a 6'10 MH xf and it was a fishing machine. All my crazy ideas could be attributed to that rod.

Gary Yamamoto autographed hat
My ex-father in law used to work security at concerts. We were back stage at a Blake Shelton concert one time and Blake was hammered. He (my FIL) grabbed my cap off my head and had Blake sign it. I said "You just ruined my hat" LOL

Humminbird Help
I may be wrong, but I think some of the replies are confusing the Helix series with the Solix series.

Bassmaster Classic Postponed!
I guess I understand the logic, but why not put it off till the fall if they are that concerned about the restrictions that are in place. I would think moving it to Sept or Oct would have made more sense.

Berkley Cutter
Bass are predators and they look for the weak and easiest meal, maybe they will see Ol one eyed Johnny and think he's an easy meal.

Blade Bait Rod?
I throw mine.....right back in the box after making a couple casts with them. I want to use them, I really do. I watch video after video about using them. The whens, the wheres, the whys, the hows, and no matter what I do, I never feel like I have a chance to catch anything on a blade bait. I will continue to try though. That being said, I have been throwing mine on a 7' M Crucial rod.

Should I be worried about this?
If you plan on fishing with it, I wouldn't worry about it. If it is a show piece, I would send it back and demand a new one.
-
How do you choose a new rod?
I don't normally, if ever, literally laugh out loud at something I read on the internet. I must admit, you got me with that one though. This is what I imagined in my head. Person A - "Want to go to the tackle store with me?" Person B - "Sure, but why are you brining a reel that has line on it with you? A - "You will see" - Takes reel into store, mounts it on rod and puts the line through the eyes "Now, grab the end of the line and give me a few tugs like you are a big ol largemouth" B - "You have lost your mind"

Bassing couples
I've always wondered how those things first get rolling. I would be down, got to try to figure out how to tell the wife. Is "fishing" the code word?

Metanium 2020 or Aldebaran MGL
For a dedicated JB rod, the Alde. Line capacity will be the only negative that I could see but it wouldn't bother me as I don't break off a lot using a JB.

Repairing pitted cork handle
I know this wasn't the question, and maybe it is common knowledge. But since I started using my Expride's I found that the Mr Clean magic erasers work really well for cleaning.
