that's pretty wild. my granddad passed away last year and my grandma gave me most all his fishing stuff. one of the items was the black case, but no spool was inside it just had a few hooks and sinkers in it. i had no idea what it was, but it's still there with the things from his tacklebox. thanks for sharing this, i had wandered the same thing!

i'm not brand loyal by any means, but i have come to really like shimano casting reels. That said, i cannot get myself to feel the same way about the spinning reels. I like my pflueger spinning reels. I wouldn't jump overboard just because 1 guy said to....

i'm sorry to hear of your loss man. employers do not care about how or how long it took to get the degree, just the degree is what matters (if it even matters at that point). I would opt to go back ASAP because once you start working and making some money and having free time and fishing and all that..... school looks a lot less appealing!

i've tried to use the snaps (norman speed clips) out of convenience..... BUT like montanaro i wasted more time fooling with the clips than tying a knot. those tiny little clips are not made for gorilla hands like mine....

i've fished plenty in western nc using straight braid and don't think my fishing has suffered because of it.
