  1. whichever one is on sale.... it's splitting frog hairs to me.
  2. i would say spinnerbaits up to like 3/8oz or so shouldn't be an issue, but like DVT said there is no standard to go by so you'll just have to try and see if it works for you.
  3. it seems logical sure, but i can't seem to get it so that the connections are then tight enough to get the proper clearance over my garage door (the stretch in the rope is too great with the increase in distance). the yak has to be basically touching my ceiling in order for my garage door to open and close... i'll be tinkering with it some while it's cold out until i come up with the proper solution.
  4. i've seen another video where he said the exact same thing... he has a good argument for it all too. i laughed a bit when he says his "slow speed" reels are 7.4:1
  5. i agree that for $2 - $3K you shouldn't have to settle on anything... make sure you buy the right one on the first trip... unlike most products, there is no returning the kayak.
  6. the rest of the pics:
  7. Showing a little love to the plastics!! Finally got around to taking some pics of the ride, but the lighting could not be worse so please excuse the poor quality photos. Wilderness Ride 135 Lowrance 4x HDI Minn Kota 30lb I’ve done quite a few things to “upgrade” or enhance the experience. Crate with yakattack rod holders, yakattack cellblok fishfinder mount with adjustable rod holder, anchor trolley on each side of the yak, 8’ stake out pole, forward laying rod holders (fashioned from wall rod holders) the basis of the idea coming from @Fishing Rhino, harmony traction pads. Lastly, the unit is powered by a 30# Minn Kota, the inspiration for it came largely from @Darren.. My dad helped me fashion the metal mounting bracket. Steering is controlled by the foot pedals and the forward/reverse controls are on my left hand side right at the yakattack cellblok (small little black disk in the photo). Last and absolutely not least is the electric hoist I mounted in my garage to assist with getting the yak up over my garage door clearance. I know it’s not 100% balanced, but it works until I figure out a better balancing method!
  8. it's been said before, but didn't see it in this thread.... MEND IT the stuff can keep your soft plastics together for much longer than you'd imagine
  9. have been using megastrike as an attractant only, but just ordered a bottle of JJ's magic to try as well....
  10. So don't ask me, Hank why do you drink? Hank, why do roll smoke? Why must you live out the songs that you wrote? Stop and think it over, try and put yourself in my unique position. If I get stoned and sing all night long, it's a family tradition!
  11. well i already have a 682 so i may not need the shorter length, may have to go 703....
  12. i get the same thing from time to time and have not seen any negative effects yet...
  13. when those things are out, unmatched live bait! my dad, nephew and I worked out some smallies last year after picking some of those worms off the leaves at my uncle's house. ran out of worms that day!
  14. welcome as well. 16b sunline FC sniper. and cannot provide any commentary on the specific reel choice, but i am a fan of my shimano casting reels.
  15. ^ what he said. also would suggest a look at the academy h2o xpress baits if you have an academy sports nearby, cheap and good quality baits. my top square bill is an xcite xb1 with rattles black back/chartreuse that i have no idea where it came from.... just looked at taklewarehouse and they are $7.29
  16. biggest downside i would see for catering to only kayak owner/fishers is you cannot support any out of town clients. this means you must somehow generate an enormous amount of return business on local customers on your local waters.
  17. cannot comment on 12# but 16# and 20# have really changed my mind again about fluoro for the better of course
  18. I don't have as much in the extras dept as I'm sure you do, I'm a minimalist in a sense. The peg board works well for me though. Much easier to see what I'm working with.
  19. did you see any footage of last year's classic? i wouldn't call that escaping the cold!! but seriously though, i won't be much help, but thought it might help if you clarified if you meant like motel, hotel or camping style? With greenville so close by, you have a number of options to stay. If trailer/camping was what you had in mind there are a ton of options, especially in March!
  20. there will be some sales, but i find some of the best deals right here on the bassresource flea market page, monitor that frequently! i would recommend the Dobyns Champion line of rods. I just recently picked up my 3rd one and couldn't be happier. Sensitive, light, well built and warranty/customer service is phenomenal. they retail right in your price range, but can be found cheaper on sale at the right time. i own a wide array of brands on rods and am generally happy with all of them, but the dobyns champion rods are just a little above the rest of my fleet....
  21. first and foremost, you don't need 13-15 ft to fish freshwater in my opinion. i have a ride 135 (13.5 ft) and frankly i'd have preferred the 115, but i got a great deal on mine.... i'd say 12 ft is right where i'd prefer to be. and i've never heard of a "rod locker" on a kayak, certainly nothing that could easily be accessed while on the water. all of my rods will fit in the bow hatch on my ride 135 with absolutely no problems, but it's would not be easy to access while on the water. just a quick glance online doesn't look like any of those models you listed have a "rod locker" so to speak. i think you may be referring to the removable center consoles/electronics hatches that those models have. all that said, i love my ride 135, but would have definitely settled in the 115 with no problems at all. and speed is not on the list of things the ride 135 does well, it's a fairly slow moving unit. however, it is as stable as the floor, never do i feel like i'm going to tip over. i'm certain i would fall out of the yak before it would turtle over on me. Another very nice looking outfit that has a lot of momentum right now are the feelfree kayaks. especially the lure model.
  22. ^^this is exactly my system
  23. well welcome aboard my friend!! and for the umpteenth time on the record, i'm no Roy fan.... ready for a change myself, but nevertheless GO HEELS
  24. going to have to try this. i've deemed my pair useless for now because they're dull to the point that braid has to be pretty tight in order to get them to cut.
