2500-3000 size reels are typically what's used. Either one would be fine. Just remember the president 25 has a max line rating of #6 and it only holds 90 yards of it. So if you wanted to use #8 it would hold even less. Exception would be using #15-20 braid or even #8 fluoro since it's usually smaller then it's mono counterpart. If it were my choice I'd pick the 30 size. It holds a little more line and has a higher ipt retrieve.

That's a tough call. The tatula is an excellent reel and feels very smooth. It also is a great caster. At $110 it's hard to beat. It is a larger frame then the exceller though. That might be something to take into account. The exceller isn't bad either. I have 2 of each of those models. Mount one to a rod and see which one feels better to you.

16oz/1 pint oil to 6 gallons of gas for a 50:1 ratio. Any Evinrude made after 1964 uses that ratio. Also Evinrude recommends a minimum of 87 but suggests 89 octane for their motors. They say there are no benifeits of using a higher octane when using a TCW-3 oil.

Well it has to be because you aren't doing something correctly. If the thousands of members on BR have no problems with a variety of knots to get the line on the spool and you do. All signs point to you then. I'm kinda hoping you are just trying to get a good laugh out of this and it's just a joke. Tie 2 over hand knots and tighten them down and use a piece of tape on them.

I'm sorry it's not the Arbor knot but the person tying it. They're plenty of people use it with no issues. My guess is you aren't cinching it down the whole way.

Nothing wrong with hi vis yellow. Just take a sharpie and color the last 3-4ft of your line green. You're right about invizx though. I had a terrible time with it. I use Sunline sniper now and it's a lot better of a line. Also put kvd l&l on it and it becomes even softer.

It's a semi common problem. Out of 10 Lews reels I had it happen to one and it was shortly after buying it. Call or email and they'll send you 2 new knobs free of charge.

The boat ramp entrance has a good bit of shoreline and some docks. That's really the only place I know of.

It's lightweight and balances out well. The sensitivity was there as well. It's rated a bit generous for lure specs but it's action and power are accurate. I like the look of the carbon fiber and it's not uncomfortable to fish with at all. I spoke with the owner of the company a few times before ordering. He was nice to talk to and didn't try to sell me on anything. Just answered my questions and gave me some info along the way.

That should work just fine. You can also use heavier fluoro depending on the conditions you are fishing. You could also use 30# braid. I use straight fluoro though. It's the best choice for plastics. Either weightless or weighted.

I was curious about this the other day myself and performed a distance test. I was using a 7'2 mh rod and throwing a keitech 4.8 with an 1/8oz keel weighted 4/0 hook. Without killing myself, I was getting around 110-115ft. So that's right at 37 yards. For me it's plenty of distance.

Well I finally caught my first bass of the year on Sunday. Cashion 6'9 rod and a daiwa reel. Throwing a megastrike strike back spinnerbait.

Pq on a *** black would make a nice setup for around $200.

Taking the boat out tomorrow on deep creek lake. Hopefully I can manage a few fish to get my year started.

It's really not much but worth it. The TP can be had for $150 online. It's got 1 more bearing,carbon fiber handle,better spool and gear material, and it's a good bit lighter. You haven't mentioned what you'll be using it for yet. If the majority of your use will be with lures in the 1/4-1/2oz range then the bb1/bb1 pro isn't the best choice. As already mentioned. Unless you are using the reel for cranks or swimbaits, there is no need to hold 160 yards of line. That's 120ft of line that you won't ever use. More line is more weight which equals heavier spool that's not good for lighter baits.

The tournament speed spool is nice and a step up from that is the tournament pro. It's a great reel.

I just use an outdoor backpack from Walmart for bank fishing. It was like $15 and has a good many pockets and plenty of room. I keep 3 3700 boxes in mine plus about 5-6 bags of plastics. Scale,pliers,scent,scissors,jj's,buff, and tape measure all fit in the small side pockets.

They all have their pros and cons. The chronarch would be the best reel for the job out of those 3. I just don't like the short handle but that's easily fixed with a 94mm hawgtech handle for $79. Other good candidates would be a Lews tournament pro or Daiwa t3b.

The totally round ones pick less junk then the removable versions. Another weight style that works well too is the mojo weights. It's like a cylindrical drop shot weight just with a hole through it. Check into them if you aren't already familiar with them.
