I have 2 of the 723's. It's such a great all purpose rod. It's rated up to 3/4 so it'll throw a 1/2oz jig but with a trailer you are getting towards the top of the rating. I still have no troubles throwing them though. It doesn't feel overloaded to me. The next choice is the 714. Another great rod but not so much for lighter stuff like 1/4. I throw frogs,jigs,c rig,heavier Tx rig on mine.

$150 gets you an endurance from thefishranger Either way it's still a nice rod. I have a max 703 that I use. It's basically got buzzbait duty at all times at this point in the spring.

Unless you are getting a great deal on it, then I'd spend the extra cash and grab an endurance. It's a much better rod for only a little bit more. Has better guides and blank.

I drove down in the car and fished the banks a little bit. We had severe storms in Western Md today. Even a tornado warning. I didn't wanna spend the day insigr so I outran the rain for a few hours. There are lilly pads everywhere. Looks so good for a frog. I was able to catch 2 and miss 1.

If you don't cinch the knot really good and cut the tag end too short it could be slipping.

I just ordered an Rtx 25s and it'll be here on Monday. Here's why. I fished 2 okuma trio 30 spinning reels pretty hard over the past 4 years. I believe I paid about $65 for each of them new. Never once did I have any trouble out of either of them. Still super smooth just like day 1. 4yrs of use for $65 is good enough for me. I also have no doubts that they'll be working great a year from now or even more. Okuma has a decent following and they make a nice product. I actually just sold them both on here to purchase the Rtx since now I only use 1 spinning rod.

I've just started using this technique over the past month. I'm not sure if I can go back to a weightless wacky worm honestly. I rarely fished it because it was just way too slow for me. The nail weight allows it to fall faster and it flat out catches fish. Out of 11 fish today 7 were on it. I found some screws that I had that weighed 1.5 grams and I just cut the heads off using a Dremel tool. I store them in Plano or Flambeau boxes by type of bait. Craws,stick worms,flukes,beavers,ect Brand doesn't matter. Just the style of bait. Though I do have a brand that I buy all the time for certain things like craws. It's really easy to find what I need when I'm out on the water. Now if I'm fishing the bank I have 1 box and keep dang near every type of plastic I could need in one day in there. As you can see I have 12 different types of plastics in 1 box. If I get low on something,I can see it right away and refill that bait later on.

I fished a ghost minnow cavitron from 7-8:30 tonight and landed 9. Buzzbait bite is hot right now.

^^^ same here but I only trim 1 leg. It's said to let them walk a bit better.

If you have the room to fish a longer rod then that's what I would buy. The added length will help with distance and line pick up on hook sets

The guy clearly just likes to stir up stuff. He was downing rage products in another thread saying that they're too soft and blah blah blah. Myself just picked up another 12 packs of craws the other day. Keep on producing awesome products Big-O

Not really an upgrade or modification but I take some 20 wire and cut it about 1/2" long. After putting my worm or craw on the hook a push it straight down through the bait and the eye of the hook. Bend the ends over like a staple. It stops the bait from sliding down the hook after catching a few fish and in turn they also last much longer now.

I've owned both types and prefer centrifugal brakes because they are more set it and forget it but all my reels now are Daiwas and their magnetic braking system is way more user friendly then standard mag brakes. I rarely make any adjustments to the brakes unless there is a big lure change difference.For example when casting a rage craw with 3/16 weight my brakes are on 5/6 and spool tension is loose but when I throw a weightless senko I up the brakes to 9/10 and add 2 clicks of spool tension.

I can't find the thread but there was a good one on this topic in the everything else section of this forum. For me I wear crocs but not the normal sandal ones. These are a slip on type that resemble a slipper. They are called the Santa Cruz. Very lightweight and dry super fast plus have the crocs foam as an insert that can be removed for cleaning or whatnot. Zeko also has a boat shoe that is pretty nice from what I've heard.

The rage craw is my bait of choice everyday and almost all day. I've lost a claw due to fish but never on a cast. I also have my own little trick to keep them from sliding down the hook and from getting torn up quicker. I typically get about 5-6 fish per craw. Unless sometimes they are real acrobatic when being brought in and I lose a claw during the show. TorqueConverter - the soft plastic is where the action comes from. It's a fair trade off for a bait that works so well.

I heard the claims of grooving were with braid because it holds dirt,sand,debris in the line.

It's easily the best $100 reel available right now if you don't count buying used or things on clearance. I have 65lb PP braid on my type R and use it every day and there's no signs of any grooving.

Great catch. Like you mentioned some of us don't live in areas that produce huge bass. It's the memory that counts,not the weight.
