OP - The majority of square bills only go 6ft deep or less. It depends on size,brand,line,ect.They have a squared off bill that makes them deflect off things easily. You can throw them anywhere you'd like. They work the best when being banged of objects like stumps,rocks,ect I fish mine on a mh/f rod with a 6:x:1 reel. As for line. Take your pick on that. I like to use fluoro or a copoly such as yozuri hybrid.

Backing is used to fill room on the spool so you don't waste good line. You aren't going to reach the second 1/2 of the spool on a cast. So you'd have approximately 60 yards of good line that never sees the water. Using backing allows you to spool 2 reels with good line. Using all fluoro or 1/2 and 1/2 won't matter for distance if you fill the spool up to a proper level. How much to use depends on the diameter of the backing and the diameter of top shot. I think most spools give you a rating for #12 mono. So use 50 yards of #12 mono and then spool up with top shot that's equal to #12. Adjust for larger diameter lines.

Also depending on what reel you have there may be a longer handle from another reel made by that company. You could order at a decent price. Maybe try it out and if you like it and it's what you were looking for then get a Hawgtech handle. Super nice product put out by them.

Bass react to things they believe are an easy meal or food in general. I've never seen anything that looks like a bubble gum pink fluke or trick worm but they eat it. A white fluke does well too and I have no all white fish in my waters but they work. Swimbait guys throw trout baits in waters with no trout and catch fish. I have no shad in my waters but gizzard shad and green gizzard shad produce well for me. Though there are no shad present they still are natural colors and catch fish. Give it a shot and you might be surprised by the outcome.

It's not rocket science and don't let anyone lead you to believe it is either. You don't need special oils and greases. Everything you need can be had at walmart. There will be a little start up cost but you'll have enough for a long time. The only thing you can't get there would be drag grease. Some reels run a wet drag and need a very thin film of grease on the drag washers. Regular grease can't be used in place of it. Has to be drag specific. I use Cal's drag grease. You can also use it on the gears if you wanted to. Marine grease - gears 140wt gear oil - sliding parts - worm gear - non spool bearings. Remington oil - spool bearings Purple power - cleaning parts - soaking bearings Denatured alcohol - drop bearings in it after cleaning to remove any moisture.

Sunline sniper is what I've settled on. You can find it for about $20-22 online and it has all the qualities I'm looking for without breaking the bank. I've tried a bunch of other FC lines. Berkely 100% is pretty good also. I'll use it if I don't want to order online or make a 45 minute drive. In my opinion don't waste your time on red label. To me it's not very good. Some like it as a leader but the majority would say not as a mainline. I'd spool up some yozuri hybrid before that stuff.

I pretty much got them just because. I prefer the mattlures except it's not weedless. I have a hardgill though that'll see the most water.

I use the 3701 size. It's thinner than a regular 3700 and you don't have a bunch of unused space. Also when you apply a piece of foam backing used in drawers on the lid. It all stays put and in it's appropriate spot.

A boat allows you to get different setup for different angles. It also allows you to stay farther away from your target and cast past it as to not scare the fish. You don't have this freedom all the time from the bank. This goes for any bait you are throwing big or small.

No,I haven't and I'm pretty skeptical that you have either. I'm with you on that. A long cast for even a pro is 50-60 yards. I'd say more on average of around 40 though.

Find a marker that's the correct size and cut it. For 5" senkos I cut the end off a sharpie and use it. I buy o rings from a surplus store. They run me .03ea

Any spool can handle braid. If it's a wiffle spool you can tie through the holes. I dont do this but plenty people do. If it doesn't have holes then you can make 1.5-2 wraps with electrical tape and then spool up. The tape gives the braid something to bite into. This is my prefered method no matter the spool design. If you buy power pro braid they give you these adhesive foam strips in the box. That's what they are for. He's one of those people that are a perfectionist. As for the amount it depends on the size of braid. #50 has a diameter equal to #12 mono. So if your spool holds 120 yards of #12 then you could do a 60/60 split. Smaller braids have a smaller diameter and would require more line to fill the same amount as a larger braid. So then you get into does more yards of smaller braid weigh more than less yards of larger braid. For the average fisherman it's really not worth it imo.

The 4 power is said to be more versatile than the 3 power when you ask most people what they prefer. That would be my choice.

I get 3 fill ups. I like knowing that even with some break offs and reties I'll still have plenty of line on my reel to get me through the season.

Also take a look on Google Earth. There could be places near you that you aren't even aware of.

Add a pair of needle nose pliers and scissors to your bag. Sometimes you need the pliers to get hooks out. Especially the trebles on cranks. The scissors to cut line.
