I enjoy using a nice reel. Plus I can tinker with them and upgrade stuff on it. You get to feel the mechanical aspect of a reel. You just hold the rod.

Well here are a few tips that I was given when I got into trying swimbaits from a respected member. 1- buy baits that are proven to work 2- only buy a few and learn those inside/out 3- don't get discouraged. Leave your other rods at home and only take your swimbait setup.

It works great on any soft plastic. You can repair whatever you want. Worms,craws,ect ect You can even create baits by fusing 2 different ones together.

What bait are you talking about here,Matt's?I was referring to his HARDgill bait. I think you might be thinking about the SOFTgill he offers. It is soft but that adds to the realism. Using mend it on the spots it tears will make it last a lot longer. I have 2 of the 5" and 1 of the 4". They're still going strong. As for fish with teeth well that's part of the game honestly. I know anytime I tie on a swimbait that there is a chance I might lose a $25+ lure.

No brainier - Tatula I had 3 until a few days ago I traded one for a chronarch 51e. I'm hating that decision already. I don't feel there is a $80-120 reel that can top it and it's better than some $200 reels.

Or just buy one of Matt's hardgills and never look back. That is if you can find one for sale. There's a reason they don't come up very often and why tthey sell out in hours. I was lucky enough to get in on the last batch just had to settle for slim pickings and make a compromise

Really no different than 5 bags of senkos that you'll go through in a few months. That's also dirt cheap for a swimbait. When compared to what some of them cost.

$35 The fish 30 acre gill is awesome though 3x the price almost.

Granted it can be a little boring but I enjoy it still. I'm willing to beat most of us couldn't get it figured out like they do.

Love these for cleaning cork. Just be sure to seal them with some cork sealer like U40 after they dry. If not it leaves them with a dry feeling. Nice before and after for those interested.

I use the duo lock snap on 1.5 and 2.5 squarebills when trying to find a color that's producing. Then I just tie direct after that.

I won't vote them out because of color but the reel seat makes it a no deal for me. Being able to design his own line of rods was just a money making decision. That's my thoughts anyhow.

Thought so but didn't wanna give false info. $125 seems like what I see them for a lot. Not a bad price. Most decent rats will run you $80.

Definitely try it before you buy new gear. I read that book and its has a lot of info in it. That's just a technique I don't think I could ever have the patience for. Heck he'd anchor his boat and just sit for an hour before fishing. That guy had a lot of patience.

The 3 of you seem to be the only ones I can recall saying you think Falcon is rated true. The majority seem to have the same opinion I do on them. That is that Falcon rods are rated 1 power too high. For me their 6'10 H pitchin stick is a mh when compared to other rods. Their 7' med/mod is the same way. It's more of a medium light when compared and the lure ratings suggest the same. Nice rods but underpowered to me.

The lure ratings are guidines. There's also no set standard in the rod industry. The rod will probably feel a bit overloaded with that bait and you could suffer some decrease in casting distance but it'll throw it. 5/8 is usually what a medium power rid is rated around.

I use a straight pull.

"Get in where you fit in" is a pretty popular saying in the fishing world. Expensive doesn't equal better in all cases. The $100-150 dollar rod category has a lot of good choices for rods that are sensitive and can outshine certain rods of a higher price tag. You can also find rods that normally retail in the $150-200+ range on clearance or used. This is the approach I generally take. I just bought a $250 rod for $130 and it was new. So I got the best of both worlds on that deal. It was exspensive but cheap.
