So surprised no one from up north has asked for clear roads to pull a boat to Tennessee!!!

I too believe in the weight thing....when I put a rod together with a reel I want the outfit to be an extension of my arm. I don't want to feel like I'm holding a hammer. I have had inexpensive rods to very expensive rods feel like this... It takes time...to match rods and reels but then you have something "BEAUTIFUL"....(Sorry) Many hasteful put together 's now are in friends or other peoples hands.....!!!! Take an hour or two....go in a well stocked store...match up and compare...would do this early in day as to get more help....Christmas probably is not the best of times.....good luck

Believe this is talk day at the radiation doc...but I do have CLL which makes matters oh so ever wonderful too!! Another doc awhile back said make a list and get er dun. :).....trying to live in the moment...kind of a unique circumstance....and it makes it hard as I'm not a sitter.....oh well...finishing coffee and off to rad....

Now Dwight...big fish...sunny day...a northerner down south. You should be the toughest son of a gun down there.....shorts...no shirt....flip flops. But then you could be acclimated already???? Nice fish....

If me....would go with finesse...light line , small baits and talk to a local tackle store that seems like it is complete. Have fished Arizona in the past and it's a fun place to fish. But don't believe I have fished you area. If your around lake Pleasant area....fish the dam and boat ramp areas "early".....this goes for any lake...especially when so close to the concrete jungles.

That's kinda how I knew something was up...had my cold weather stuff on which knows no chill....I was frozen....oh well...will be trying to hitch a ride here pretty quick....will try to be good too. ($#@!%) (five more weeks)

Reading all your posts and shaking my head in sadness.....times are changing. We all know slime rockets are not the smartest fish that swim...especially with the right power bait. Why you can even throw out some pea gravel while your on the bank and get em started biting....it replicates the feeders action. Anyway...maybe "planted" trout were created for this day and age where some people just like things handed to them and it's EASY....hmmmmmmmmmmmm Sorry not a thought for the beginning of a beautiful day. Your doing good.....my dad to had what your father is going through....we did a father son trip to Canada for salmon....was good timing....short time later..........

Cold water fishermen seem to have a totally different mind set....maybe just me....but I'll hang out with the bass guys too. Have done it all....I'll take warm water for peace. Although I can get cranky when a young buck pulls in front of ya within casting distance!!!

Been fishing the last two days for a few hours.....Thursday was tough....one nice smallie and a couple dinks. So yesterday a front comes in....ohhhhhhh....we are thinking this is going to be amazing.....NOT. Three little...little dinks and came home early with a 101 temp and bent over......dang. Seems to be gone now but question is....was it the chemo/rad/meds and the weather or did I get a 24 hour bug. Think I will keep to better weather till all this add on stuff is done.....mama says I push it.....but if I can walk I can fish.....right!! Tight Lines

Reading the posts about trout plantings bring back memories of fishing in the west and peoples pursuit of the planted trout. I just smile at the memories of watching people go swimming for their fish when it would come off the line or chase it down a muddy bank to slowly watch it swim away just out of reach. Also the caravans of cars following the planting trucks..... And their is sadness too.....bass were trash in Oregon so got very little respect....probably less now...but YEAH......since I've moved to Tennessee it's like a big HUG....everyone seems to respect others fishing....Love it.... Oh and I got a HUGE smile when I see that you can use trout for bait out here....amazing....yes it is. Tight Lines

Hmmmmmm....maybe one of these days....have never used a shiner or minner.....but then I'm from out west!!

Back in the early days when I lived in Oregon I would go to Luhr Jensen in Hood River and talk to Tom Seward. Very creative individual who did their lure designing and a fishaholick. Lived in a camper by Luhr Jensen and fished probably everyday in the Columbia River. Created the Klawdaddy, Speed Trap, Brush Baby to name a few. Was also interesting to watch them do all their painting by hand.....ohhhhhh the good ol days.

Things do happen fast....I have to be careful I don't walk out the boat....never have but my depth perception is krap....Never used to use a but seat...now it's mandatory.... On the other side....I'm a potential short timer so am living large I guess....again "all the best to ya"

Meaning....I'm ready to be outside Postman style....rain, sleet, snow, wind and sun....love it all. Some conditions the fish bite better and people stay home....all good....just have never been one to look out windows much. Get better very soon.

Dang...all I gotta say is well done..annnnnnnd glad I don't have to work out that hard to land the fish around me!!! Asked the Doc Monday if I could do some projects in yard with all that has been done to my head and so forth....she said fine....wife says...No....BUT....think I win....gotta do something physical besides standard cast reel in fish....cast reel in fish. Than go home and CRASH!!

Sounds like all is well....where's you first fishing trip....even casting by a boat ramp count's......
