I recently got two Zillion SV Gs myself. I loosened the knobs on both reels and I could tell that both were set differently from the factory.

When I fished at night, Watermelon senkos would constantly produce and green pumpkin never did. I let different friends that never fished before use the watermelon and I would use the green pumpkin. They would catch and I wouldn’t. Different nights and different spots. Only other color that was as effective at the watermelon at night was junebug.

Used to tie Alberto’s but now I do the FG with Rizzuto finish. 2 things that make tying FG easier - keep constant tension - hold the knot the entire time while going over/under.

I just ordered and received 300 yards of Sufix 30lb braid. Going through my stuff, I find an unopened box of 300 yds of Sufix 30lb braid. Not the first time I ordered something I didn’t know I already had and I’m sure won’t be my last.

I’ve heard this elsewhere before and in your opinion, what about the single flapper vs two makes it more effective? Planning on using swimjigs more this year and been debating about the whole vertical vs horizontal menace thing.

Just wasn’t impressed and felt it wasn’t worth the price. I guess my expectations were too high. The 2017 SVs at $150 and the Tatula 100 at $113 were way better value to me. If you offered me the Elite and the SV at the same price, I would still go with the SV. Just my preference.

I’m a Tatula guy but didn’t care for the Elites. Had 3 and sold them and bought more 100’s and 150’s. My favorite are the SV’s.

I already have a few of these. Haven’t tested them out yet. Only some colors/sizes are currently available. They look like they have potential. I’m a big sleeper guy myself and have been waiting for these since they were announced. I’ll be waiting for the Bluegill sleepers too.

I like Cool baits. Also have Flashy Swimmers.

I use the same Accu Cull scale as @A-Jay and @jbsoonerfan and it’s awesome. Wish I found out about it long time ago! Highly recommend it.

My BPS has them available on a consistent basis but the weird thing is they only have 1 color in at a time. First it was Goby, then smoke then green pumpkin.

Fascinating thread. I always wondered if you are at pond/lake by yourself and you catch a state record let alone the world record, what do you do first? Who should you call first? I wouldn’t even know what to do...haha.

I use that website along with a line counter. I recently purchased 300 yards of 10lb braid. After the calculations, I spooled up 75yds of braid on 4 spinning reels (with 10lb mono backing) and everything came out perfect.

I upgraded all the washers on my spinning reels. Easy install and well worth it. When I placed my last order, I asked them if the recommended light grease or dry and the recommended using light grease. I believe the Vanfords 3000 and up already come with the carbontex washers but I wish they all did.

I purchased the Accu Cull scale that @jbsoonerfan and @A-Jay both use and it’s awesome. I highly recommend it! Wish I found out about it sooner!

I have 3 pairs of Costas and literally just ordered another pair. I have Costas, Wiley X and Nines. I’ll take the Costas all day. Haven’t paid more than $120 for each Costa. Are they worth it?...absolutely. Costa was the first company to come out with colored polarized glasses too. Sunglasses is not only about the lens...it’s about quality and comfort. I consider my sunglasses as another tool/gear when I’m out fishing. I had a cataract in my 30’s and protecting my eyes with a pair of quality sunglasses is a high priority for me. From the pairs that I have, both the lens on the Nines and Wiley X had issues in the long run (film delaminated). Both companies had excellent customer service addressing the issue. That issue never happened to any of my Costas. With all that being said, I recommend a pair of Costas in Copper/Green Mirror lens. Great all around lens. Also I purchased my Dad a pair of Nines years ago. I just purchased him some Costa Permits in Green Mirror for his birthday which is tomorrow. We’ll see if he notices a difference. I also bought my wife a pair of Maui Jim’s years ago. Recently bought her a pair of Costas in the green mirror and she was blown away and it was half the price of the Maui Jim’s.
