  1. The River2Sea Biggie is a great squarebill, consistently runs true and produces fish for me
  2. River2Sea Tungsten Vibe, Jackall TN, duo realis g-fix
  3. Oh man the LC Sammys are money... personally I fish a lot of clear water so I like ghost minnow, ghost Pearl ayu and chart. shad slender pointers
  4. ive had more success using the Jackall Aska than any other squarebill, I do like the kvds also
  5. i should clarify, ive always been happy with every aspect of my dobyns rods. Even my one savvy(733) i like just as much as my others, its currently my fluke rod
  6. i dont think any dobyns rods are the that sensitive, and i think most people using them know that. What keeps me using them is the vast number of rods for every technique under the sun. Id recommed the 733/734 but wouldnt use cranks on either, the 734 will handle jigs but the 3 power rods a bit underpowered for that imo
  7. The dx745c is an awesome jig rod, i use it for pitching 3/8oz and 1/2oz jigs. Can handle 3/4oz footballs too. Will be good for everything but the thickest cover
  8. 745, its a great stick ive got 50lb powerpro on it now but really like it with 20lb fluoro. 3/8oz and 1/2oz jigs
  9. the Shank shawshank redemption
  10. that is a beaut. congrats!
  11. I dont have any experience with the 704/705 except for the CBs, only thing i can tell you is the 744 is perfect for 1/4-3/8oz jigs and will handle spinnerbaits too. The 704 i think can do the same but i think youll really dig the extra length of the 744, but that is your decision. I think either of these would suit your needs better than say the 735 as mentioned
  12. If your only throwing 1/4 and 3/8oz jigs ill recommend the dx744c, perfect rod for that. I own a 745c and it is one of my favorites, best 3/8 and 1/2oz jig rod in my opinion, guys use it for 3/4 footballs i hear. I had a 744 but felt it was underpowered with 1/2oz jigs so I swapped it for the 745 and am happy with the decision. I think the 744 is the rod for you.
  13. Youll probably find that some baits that are within your rods parameters but dive rather deep wont be ideal on that rod either. Example a crank that dives 12+ft and weighs 1/2oz. The deeper a crank dives the more resistance in the water so long rods handle deeper cranks much better, id stick to squarebills, smaller lipless and try it for light jerkbaits and topwaters as well When im fishing cranks the rods out to the side, when a fish bumps or eats it i sweep the rod to the side setting pressure on the fish. The hooks set themselves
  14. weightless fluke
  15. shocked... i love robin williams
  16. The st croix eyecon bounce n troll and the mojo bass crankbait rod are literally identical blanks, you could use the mojo bass for bottom bouncing eyes and the eyecon for cranking bass.
  17. impressive! those are some ontario toads... how heavy were the jigs?
  18. i always throw topwaters before dark, also i dont use spinnerbaits very often anymore but at dusk a 1/2oz spinnerbait with a swimbait trailer is money!
  19. fluoro, mono or braid can be used fine with treble hook lures especially with the right setup. fluoro is dense and it will sink, this helps when trying to impart action into certain baits. You really get what you pay for with the stuff though
  20. the other day i could hardly get them to hit a dropshot, fluke etc but caught close to 10 in half an hour banging a squarebill into rocks. every strike came immediately after i felt the bait deflect off cover, reaction strikes
  21. id go with 50-65 braided line and with that setup youd be able to horse out a toad
  22. i pitch out the dropshot a few feet from the boat to stay somewhat vertical on it, when the weight is on bottom and line tight your rod tip should be at 9-11 o'clock. Then if you drop your tip a quarter inch, the bait will fall approx. the same distance, so when im fishing the ds it doesnt look like im doing much but i am in fact imparting action most of the time
  23. I have a UV buff and an Original buff, both are super comfy. the UV buff would be best to protect against rays, the original does also but to a lesser extent. I use the original to keep warm on colder days
