I'd bet you can slightly increase your chances here if you can narrow your target region to a continent...or even a hemisphere, perhaps. Stick around and establish a positive presence will help, as well. Good luck.

LOL...I didn't see BB's post when I was typing mine....I think the Sammy I was referring to had been yours previously, Buzz...I love the way it walks....

Just started using a Sammy the last few weeks....it walks like a champ, to be sure....but I'm not certain I like that it pauses vertically...might be great, but I haven't had a hit on the pause like I do sometimes with spooks....maybe I missed it mentioned above, but the clear spook is my favorite....when I first got it many years ago, I thought it was a gimmick or a toy....but it gets more hits per cast than any other walking bait I have.

I'd bet that a LOT of folks on here have chased carp splashes or shadows at one time or another....many may not even know it. I've done it more times than I am willing to admit.

Sorry...I'm a little confused. My Tatula Type R 'cast control' knob is gold and is opposite the drag star --- and I can imagine it being too small for some. My spool tensioner is red...and next to drag star, but isn't so small compared to my other reels.

I say experiment. There's been a lot written about weighting down crankbaits. I've never done it. I figure the best thing about floating cranksbaits is that they float. When I bump timber, ninety nine times out of a hundred, the bill deflects, the bait rises and the hooks aren't buried in wood. I have no doubt that the first time I add metal to a crank, I'd lose it in first cast or two.

I've tried two different fishing games that I can recall, one on iPad, and one on a Droid phone. If you can solve what turned out to be the same problem for each, you may be on to something.....both games were insufferably boring after about five minutes. Good luck.

It doesn't take a lot of searches here on BR, or general googling to find that there's as many opinions on line as there are fishermen. I happen to like Yo-Zuri and braid in various weights and combinations, but that info doesn't really do you a lot of good. My advice, though it probably isn't what you hoped to hear, is to try a number of different lines yourself -- pay a lot of attention to how the line is affecting your fishing and make your own decisions. For example, you will have trouble getting consensus on here about the elasticity of mono vs fluoro......so forget about being told precisely when you should be using specific lines. You haven't said what sort of rod your baitcaster is on, nor how you're fishing it, so I don't think any one suggestion is going to help you very much. Only you will be able to tell us which combination of floatability, stretch, sensitivity, visibility, abrasion resistance, etc is right for you; and you will only be able to begin to assess that after you can begin to tell/see/feel the difference yourself.

Very cool. After reading the first post, I got to thinking that this should be very easy and quite marketable. Should do: Scale and tape measure - record both Record time, date, lat/long Bluetooth straight to droid/iphone - an app would correlate the data to a picture taken within 60 or 90 seconds of the data transmission

I put the yak gear deluxe on a couple weeks ago and have already seen that it might be nice to have another. By the way, I'm extremely satisfied with that kit. I was pretty nervous about the install, but it was a breeze and I am quite glad I did it

I've used parasite clips and they do work. Unfortunately, they require you to remember to put them on the line before you tie the hook. Trivial, no? Not for me. And when I inevitably forget, I almost always choose not to cut the line, put on the clip and retie. Buzz, take a look at this: But skip to 1:30...it doesn't really take four minutes to put one on

Do they only catch small fish for you?

LOL....aint that the truth....good thing my lures can't talk back to me....I can just imagine what mine would say when it gets back to the boat: "WTH are you doing??? You sent me 3 yards to the right of that OBVIOUS stump that had a beast camping alongside....and then pulled me WAY too fast TWO FEET off the bottom and missed three humps and two culverts....why are we even out here if you don't want to catch the dang fish!!!!!"

I will probably regret extending the life of this thread, but.... Why? Do trout see line differently than bass? See it the same, but process and assess the 'threat' differently? Approach potential food sources differently? Are they the same, but the waters are simply different? It probably isn't important in the least to bass fisherman....but then again, if the folks above who are serious about making their line as unobtrusive as possible to bass are correct...well, maybe it would be instructive to know what a trout sees or thinks??

Thank you. I understand better what you were talking about. Now I just need to think about whether or not its important to me.....and maybe check some of my current combinations. I do so little real casting with spinning rods anymore, that I doubt I'm going to care much. I do some sidearm fluke-type throwing and then its mostly drop-shotting and shakey heading, which I doubt are going to be too dependent on that choke thing.....but, may be worth looking at and mixing and matching my gear for better choke points.
