  1. What if Meeks had not succeeded in the dribble drive and actually hurt his draft stock? Some experts said it was a wise decision for him to go now. And what if he blows out a knee before the draft? What are his options now?
  2. 1 NBA contract does not set you up for life. It will get you well on your way! He obviously thought so too, leaving early. Or alternatively, the door was shut behind him since there was a significant scholly crunch

  4. No, no, I understand. Let's continue our good-natured debate What I do not get is UK's fans' complete indifference to the school turning it's back on these student athletes. Guys that sacrificed lots of time in their lives to represent UK, only to have the rug pulled out from undernearh them. Like now -- these 2 kids were completely blindsided during the summer semester that they 1) no longer are members of the basketball team 2) and more importantly, no longer have a scholarship paying for their college education Now if they want to play basketball again, they need to sit out a year (way to go, NCAA. Reward coaches for moving whenever they want, and penalize the student athlete). And now they possibly have a $20,000+ financial burden that they had no indication was coming (if they cannot secure a scholly elsewhere). I sure hope these guys have the financial means to finish college. And the whole "they had a chance to earn their roster spots" argument. Come on... Calipari's been on the ground less than 3 months, the recruits probably just arrived on campus (maybe not even yet). No official practices have started for them to even be given a chance to "earn their roster spots" with the team. Not to mention that judging by the comments made about at least one of these guys in that article, they had already earned their spot. I hope recruits' parents are well versed on this story when Calipari comes and sits in their living rooms over the next few years, preaching how he's going to take care of their sons. Bottom line -- how many other coaches have done this sort of thing when hired at a new school? While it may not be illegal, it's shady and unethical. But do me this favor -- kick the crap out of UGA. That's all I ask
  5. http://kentucky.***/2/871715.html Stay classy, Calipari I don't care that it's not a violation. So you're saying you convince kids to commit to UK, only to be discarded? Nice... If they didn't belong at UK, don't recruit them. But if you do recruit them and bring them into the "family", then their commitment and scholarships should at least be honored. Never have I seen a coaching hire result in this much roster turnover before a single game has been played. Wow...
  6. That's what happens when you hire a shady coach and are 4 schollies about the NCAA limit. It certainly feels like the decision was taken out of Meeks' hands.
  7. And why is that, exactly?
  8. and topwater. 8-) I already have this rod But truth be told, I'm more comfortable fishing hard jerkbaits with a spinning combo.
  9. JW Smith is not new...you may be thinking of another lake.
  10. For anyone who has fished any of the St Croix MXF spinning rods, how any input on how they would do fishing hard jerkbaits like X-raps and Pointers? Thanks Chris
  11. the ultimate topwater braid reel...abu toro!!!!!! Why on earth would you need a Toro on a rod for topwater applications? I don't think there's a need for 200+ yards of braid
  12. So is Bama's skirting of the NCAA rules for years...
  13. Yep. Why wouldn't it? As long as you're not jamming Curado spools into Revos
  14. And truth be told, a 2500 sized Daiwa is closer to a 3000 sized Shimano anyway.
  15. What Reservoir? Manasquan? If so, I recall herring and gizzard shad in there. I grew up in Manalapan
  16. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of folks. Although I thoroughly enjoyed what they did in Athens last year
  17. I'm by no means a swimbait expert, but i think heavier line is advisable. 17lb at the minimum.
  18. I'm sure Randall will be along shortly to share some recent stories about all the blowups he gets fishing the male bluegill floater
  19. Spinnerbait -- I hear the smallmouth love 'em. Chartreuse and retrieved fast. Darn -- now I wanna jump in the car and not stop until I'm within range of some smallies
  20. For smaller swimbaits (~2 oz and under), my BPS Extreme 7'6" H does fine. And you can get it on sale for $70
  21. Hehe...took me a min to get this one worked out
  22. Hey all, What's the typical expected life of a trolling motor battery? I've had my job boat with two 24 V motors and the original 4 batteries for 3 years now. At what point should I seriously consider replacing these? I saw my batts at the lowest level I've ever seen them after a day out on the water yesterday, so this got me thinking.
  23. I love my Kistler Mg 6'9" MH APC for both spinnerbaits and buzzbaits.
