  1. We went yesterday. For somthing to do. Was disappointed. Once again. I was told the trilene 100 fluoro was not for the fluoro xl...so I didn't buy any.(it is by the way, at least online) Plus line sizes were not the ones I wanted. They were out of 8 lb. I wish they still had the zoom sale cuz they didn't. I didn't like how they only had select items in certain brands on sale either.
  2. So technically in this case the mh xf is the beefier rod. Wow... that's what confused me. And I'm new to the numbered power system that these rods use.
  3. I was looking at the 7'3" medium heavy extra fast and the 7'3" heavy fast.
  4. General pitching/casting 3/8-1/2 oz flipping jigs and texas rigs.
  5. I was wondering about the specs of dobyns rods. Especially the 7'3" champions in full cork. Seeing that they have a medium heavy x fast 1/4-1 1/2 oz lure rating. They also have a heavy fast with a lure rating up to an ounce...looking at both debating which would be better at general texas rig and jig pitching. I'm also hearing their fast is more moderate. I just don't know. Never held one, never seen one in person. No one sells them near me to look and feel one inperson, I've only seen them online. Any help would be Much appreciated.

Don't use it. Make a mold. Was looking for those. Dont make them anymore. Used them all before I thought of the mold idea.
  7. They are Good! First reel I have that has a dual braking system. Which I like. Always been a abu guy. These are my favorite. At least mine are smoooooth. Not noisy.

I wouldnt trust alot of people. Shop owners are either too busy to go out fishing or they are hearing from word of mouth too. Conditions change. Love proving people wrong. Done it plenty of times fishing when someone said you have to throw this or ya so t get bit... catch biggest on of the day.
  9. Cabelas in hamburg Pa, has lucky craft lipless for 5.99. Thought that was pretty good bought a few.
  10. Dinger baits. Not a ton to select from but the best quality I found.
  11. The top spinning reel is a garcia Mitchell. They are work horses. Have a couple myself.
  12. Some companies don't even supply certain lengths and actions. Example, no sizes under 7 ft in a medium heavy. Or dont offer crankbait rods.
  13. Me and my dad went ( and sometimes still do ) to alot of fishing flea markets. People sold stuff cheap. Dad would buy like 50 hooks for a dollar type stuff. He just recently bought a rod for 4 bucks. Buy soft plastics buy the lbs. Still today you might get lucky. But as a kid that where I got my stuff.
  14. Oh a week ago... I got the knife, scissors and pliers. Then I accidentally scraped the spool on my new reel?
  15. I think if ya find a jig with an arkie style head you can't go wrong. Flat eye. 3/8ounce.
  16. Just use cheap acrylic paint. Easy to use. The air brush(when you get there) will have better results but I too did the same as you are about to do. Use an imagination on what to use to paint. Small brushes Foam sponges (makes neat designs when dabbed) Nail heads...
  17. Least amount of force to penetrate a flipping hook. With a constant of 15 ft of x# mono or fluoro...
  18. Second the circle hook. You can still tightline with them. Bring 2-3 rods then setup a Carolina rig. 1/2-1 ounce weight. catch a couple bluegill to use as cut bait. When ya rig the hook dont cover the point of the circle hook. Throw all 3 lines out. Bells clipped to the rod tip do help alot with kids.
  19. Yea got 4 sx's l. they are smooth. Really like the dual braking system.
  20. I bought revo sx gen 4... and it's a smooth reel man. I consider myself an abu guy too. The revo x looks like it'd be a great purchase too. Better than the pro max or revo s. The x was gonna be my 1st choice, but I wanted to try out their dual braking system which is in the sx. On ebay this one guy was pricing the sx for 100.00 which is where I bought one.
  21. Same type of deal I used as a kid with them snelled "j" hooks with the looped leader. My dad had me do an overhand knot with my line. Then with a poetic rhythm say "loop through the hook loop then hook through the tied loop!" First fishing "knot" I learned. Worked great fpr sunnies and catfish.
  22. Both are great. I usually bite an inch off the smaller one for a more compact jig trailer. Big one is great for sparse vegetation, wood. Both are great pitching baits. They have good action too.
