  1. Frog fishing there was more or less a success. That was the only plan that panned out from the shore. No flipping bite or carolina bite. Frogs pre noon. Calm ish water got me one. BUT!! around 11 o'clock sunday. I missed a HHUUGE ONE! on a frog had rod doubled over and creaking. Had it on for about 5 seconds ten feet from the shore jumped and spit it. Felt sick after that. Other than that couple more on Texas rigs. My dad was killing them on weightless texas rigged z nail worms that they don't make anymore. I'll show a pic later on a nice one he caught.
  2. If its lead... the hole is usually collapsed a little. So I take a pocket knife, insert it in the hole then gently spin the weight to make the hole circular again. The tip is usually where. The abrasions come from. Tungsten. ..no insert? Insert? Never really had a problem with tungsten. I kno videos on youtube where guys make their own inserts.
  3. Might head up this weekend. Slinging a carolina rig from shore. Maybe a frog...
  4. Check out cabelas or bass pro shops house rods. The rods with their name on it.
  5. Pro max 3. Only comes in a 7:1 though
  6. Flip Texas rigs to cover and slow falling weightless texas rigs and carolina rigs should do well. Small profile baits. (Baby brush hog, finesse worms) Leaser lake with clear water and all that cover now is somewhat a needle in a haystack. Haha. I would even try a medium diving crank or squarebill.
  7. Hey great looking baits. Wondering what size eyes are you using?
  8. Tube baits with inserted jighead will work. And to cover Water faster maybe a squarebill or medium diver bumping the rocks.
  9. I'd say anything is possible. I wouldn't use braid though for crankbaits with a mh. Also maybe drop your carolina weight to 1/2oz. But With a moderate fast rod with braid you could still get a hook up with the carolina rig.
  10. Uhh... I only have 5 that are used. Guess I need to catch up.
  11. Bluegill are spawning in the lakes I'm fishing right now. Shakey heads is where it's at.
  12. Depending how thick or if it's lilies or hydrilla or both. Little boot tail swimbait spinnerbait, texas rigs, frogs. Fish the edges of weeds first.
  13. On a baitcaster I use a weight just heavy enough to effectively cast with. That's casting around sparse or no cover. Spinning reels I've gone as light as 1/16th.
  14. Great pitching rods I have 2 in 7'1".
  15. Hard or soft swimbaits?
  16. Alright guys what's been working for ya?! For me it's been Brush hogs Texas rigged. Dragging Football jigs around rocks. Dinks hitting topwater frog in open water no hookups. No crankbait fish for me yet. Anything different for guys around here?
  17. You could use 17+ lbs line up to 20 lbs mono. Make that crank run no more than 2 ft.
  18. He's just trying to get a better sale.
  19. My bps tackle back pack 4 3600 tackle trays jigs, topwater, crankbaits, spinnerbaits Small Plano tray for hooks and sinkers Gallon zip lock with about 10 packs of assorted plastics. Pliers and gripper scale 3 rods usually
  20. Most Temps are either "need the job will work or do anything to keep it" or " don't give crap just show up to get paid to supply their habit of choice." Where I work they actually hire people of the second nature and guess what! they still have a job! Mind blown!
  21. 6'6" m-mh fast-6'10" mh moderate fast. All graphite.
  22. I prefer booth because of the softness and better hookups walks very well. BUT! It's also lighter. In matts it doesn't lay indented in the mat but lays on top. Really the only negative. Just add 4 or 5 steel bb's for weight.
  23. A good startup for his age would be a push button spincasting reel. A 4-5 ft Medium power casting rod. Easy to use simple and straight forward. Size 6 hook with a earthworm. Underneath a float.
