What would you choose? Lews
Just a FYI the Tournament MB has a smaller spool than BB1 models. The BB1 Speed Spool is a nice option as well.

School me on swim jigs!
Always had a few swim jigs, but never used them much. This year I've been throwing them more. like what @A-Jaysaid, swim it around cover but not in it. When you do hit cover pause for a sec and continue retrieve that's usually when they bite. If you've watched some of the old MLF episodes theres an tip by KVD fishing a swim jig, and it's pretty much what A-Jay mentioned.

Those pesky bluegill bites
Oh, yeah I know that feeling. They actually ripped my Rage Chunk right off the jig. They were also hanging onto my Neko rigged Senkos while I would reel it in.

Seneca Lake
I'll probably take a day to fish Cayuga it's only 30 min from where were staying. I just need to find a boat launch on the north end of Cayuga. The closest marinas would be on the canal that connects the two, and just motor thru the locks. It was my original plan to stay on Cayuga, but the wife didn't like any of the accommodations that were available and you now how the rest goes.

Seneca Lake
Going to be staying at a rental with a dock between Angus and Dresden, and will be taking my boat. How's the fishing on this lake?

Are HABs affecting your fishing?
Nope, had a really good day on Lake Hopatcong When the HAB was at its peak . I just fished shallow. Maybe the minimal amount of water activities turned the bite on.

Your Height vs. Rod Length... does it matter?
I'm 5'10", and from the bank I use 6'6" casting and spinning except for my frogging/ heavy cover rod which is 7'. On my boat I use anywhere from 6'6" to 7'6".

Favorite Rod Manufacturer
I'm all over the place with this one. Can't pin point to one. If I had the money I would go with the higher end brands like GLoomis, St.Croix and such, but I have had success with my 1 Fenwick, a couple of Cabelas rods, and even my KK rods. Pretty sure if I had a higher end rod the difference would be night and day, but I don't want to fall down that Bait Monkey slippery slope... I think my wallet doesn't want me to either .

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Well, I decided that my 8 yr old should start using the tackle that's stored on the boat so we don't have to take his tackle bag aboard when we go out because it takes up space. Iv'e seen what he can do with terminal tackle... So yeah need to stock up.

Am I being unreasonable?
I have a few 2 piece rods, but those are for air travel. I take them apart and stick them in a Plano Airliner travel tube.

Touch screen opinions
I just installed a Garmin 73CV Echomap Plus to keep my older 73SV company at the helm. I use the 73CV mainly for mapping and the touch screen comes in real handy for this. It makes zooming in and out of the map so much more fluid. I'm already saving to replace the older SV with the new touch screen version. I have Striker 73dv at the bow, but i'll leave that one the way it is.

Kastking rods
I like them for the money. The quality is pretty good. I have 2 7' KK Perigee II 3 piece rods a casting and spinning for traveling, and for bank fishing I have 2 6'6" KK Perigee II 1 piece rods MH casting and M spinning plus a 7' H Royale Legend, and they've been great no issues so far. Good rods for the price. Ended up buying 3 Royale Legend rods as well for my Lew's reels for the boat. Probably gonna have all Royale Legends for the rest of my Lew's reels except for the 2 I have on the Lew's Carbon Fire rods.

towing with a small suv?
@Micheal Wood Maybe look into a F150 Super Crew with an 2.7 Ecoboost with tow package. I have F150 Scab with the same motor and it pulls my Stratos 176XT like it's not even there.

They make it look so easy
I always have the pedestal seat because all the lakes I fish on are either rough cause of the wake rats an lake roaches, or calm when I get into creeks or coves. So i'm always either leaning and trolling or standing and trolling on the same lake. And as everbody else has mentioned, a recessed trolling motor tray is a plus.

I just got these Royale Legend rods, and paired them up with my Lew's reels. I have taken them out a couple of times, and unfortunately didn't get any hook ups yet on these rods. They look good and feel good, only time will tell how long they'll last. one thing I do notice seems like their butt ends are shorter which I like especially if I'm walking a bait, or pitching. I have a few of their Perigee II (1 piece and 3 piece) rods with their Stealth and Sharky II reels, they have been excellent so far.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Had a good day at a pressured tough lake. I guess the HAB warnings for the past month kept the lake roaches, and wake rats away, and settled the lake. Even though the the pea soup was at 3" inches of visibility, I took a tip from an old MLF episode and went shallow and in this case shallow being around 2 to 4 feet. The magic bait was a Neko Rig with a bk/bl flake Senko with a 1/16 oz nail weight thrown and skipped under docks and shady breaklines. These fish were pretty healthy the biggest one being 3lbs and the others in the 2 1/4-2 1/2 lb range. My son even caught a giant pickeral on a homemade swim jig even before we got on the boat.

I'm loving these swimbaits, but I have no luck with them be it a paddle tail, jointed soft plastic like a Savage Gear, or the hard plastic like what Bluebasser is throwing. I have some luck with a swim jig though.
