  1. Right. Folks have different ideals on fishing items.. 🤣 For the record my personal best Indiana LMB came on a 5’6” rod, a 500 size Shimano reel with 4pound line. Bait was 1/8 ounce roadrunner. 1992. Nearly 7 pound female. I guess that’s ultra light. Nowadays I use a 7’ two piece light/fast rod made by Edge. A 2500 Vanguard w shallow spool and it holds roughly 100 yards of 4 pound I’m about to give 2 pound test a try but idk… wish me luck 🤪
  2. I’m throwing a crank bait.. But at any rate I believe you’re thinking similarly to myself. Crank bait or spinner bait, you got it going. Enjoy your little slice of heaven.
  3. Baitcast reels are a breeze, with the exception of the conquest. Spinning reels, I’m out on those dudes. In the older days Shimano had a little plastic plug where you could remove it and do a quick grease job on the main gear/pinion.. (spinning reels) seems the spinning reels are more complicated than ever.. DVT prices are very fair and does represent a very good value imo.
  4. No way I’m paying 50$ for a reel clean and lube. That seems like an exorbitant cost
  5. You’re welcome guy and remember it’s not uncommon to miss fish on a jig and trailer.. but with practice and experience you will become a solid jig fisherman, I have faith in the process of experience being the best teacher
  6. I'm pretty sure you’ll enjoy that rod but I’m not sure if it’s ideal for a turd bait.. but report back on its effectiveness if you don’t mind. There is great interest in 💩 baits on BR 🤣 I’m pretty sure the Japanese think Americans have lost their minds 🤪
  7. Now that’s a great deal right there! Thank you..
  8. Is Shimano one of the exclusions? At any rate I ordered a few Shimano 50F crank baits from a different vendor
  9. You’re still elevated, particularly on a dock.. just go fishing, I mean you’ve got some gear and experience is the best teacher. A good sharp hook on a jig , a good heavy action rod, (imo) and stout line.. the more you do this the better acquainted you’ll become. Jig and pig fishing is probably the hardest bait to try and teach on a fishing forum. For the record I catch plenty of LMB on jigs and I always always have my drag locked down. Which makes my point, we all are a little different in our philosophy on the jig. Go fish it, believe me, you’ll learn more that way and grow in confidence. Good luck and enjoy the journey.
  10. Totally understand. I fished some Redman way back when as a co, life got real busy with promotions and kids. So I stopped and took my own rig fishing for fun when I could. This year I got pumped to do the BFL thing, hoping, hoping they would snuff FFS.. Well, they didn’t and that’s it for me. I can endure any other type of fishing a boater can throw at me except FFS. Fun fishing and saltwater fishing here I come 🤣 Good luck dude, ya never know it might come back around for us, (I’m kinda old though lol)
  11. Loomis GLX 895 FP it’s actually an xtra heavy. Line rated 20-25 a distance 2nd is a Daiwa Zillion MH/regular it’s a 7’3” the regular bend it is a little too soft for my jigs but works well enough for Trig soft plastics and even squarebills then for light stuff it’s a GLX 892JWR
  12. I know it, since the industry started this technique specific labeling it has totally confused a whole bunch of fishermen.. totally unnecessary in my opinion. I mean I’m the guy that threw 1/2 oz rattletraps on a 6’6” heavy fast Lews laser speed stick and it was never ever a problem for me but according to the rod manufacturers 🤦
  13. Retirement is a good thing, it marks the beginning of a new chapter. Best wishes RW, I’m gonna miss seeing that pic of you holding those monster smallies.
  14. Well speaking of rule changes BASS just changed the no information rule again, it’s now effective immediately vs 1-1-2025..
  15. I like Spro baits, I totally love the jerk baits.. they kind of remind me of the old smithwick rouge series. (Shallow)
  16. Right. I understood your intent on the drag portion but I couldn’t resist getting sideways on the thread 🤣 I’m appreciative of higher end or unique gear in our sport. Appreciate the reply.
  17. I love the Florida tournament trail, because I lived there and fished it really hard. The one I’m looking forward to the most is the Mississippi River tournament. If Gman or Hack don’t win that I’m never ever not ever speaking with either one of them again!! 🤣😂🤣 @Catt you got some waypoints for sale ole buddy ole pal? BR discount?? Lake Fork sir..
  18. Can’t tell what reel that is but I can see it’s a shallow spool .. you run mono or braid? I’m going to run some 2 pound mono on my Vanford shallow spool 2500 next spring. Make fishing sporting again lol
  19. Jerk that rod man, don’t play..
  20. I had really wanted to fish the BFL next year, I’ve been waiting on this ruling.. Not going to do it though, a couple guys I know have been really unlucky on draws. You pay for co-angler participation then tip your boater for obvious reasons but with FFS it’s not worth it. Not everyone is gung ho about FFS but most are. Bummer.
  21. Tacklewarehouse made good on the refund due to the overcharge. Case closed.
  22. Is this a serious question? What rod for a poop bait…
  23. Between griping about FFS and begging people to watch… then there is his constant plea on Megabass EVERYTHING. Buy buy buy… He put up a philosophical video about being young and blah blah blah and said I even posed nude in a magazine!! Trying to figure out that one.. dude has never had a real job at least GMan was a roofer..
  24. 55” of screen? I have a bedroom tv that’s 53” and that’s huge!!
