Gear Ratios for Baitcasters
I agree 100% with this.

Braid On Everything?
Braid and treble hooks is an absolute no-go for me. Braid on spinning reels is also an absolute no-go. Frogs, flipping and pitching, spinnerbaits, and jigs are what I use braid for. These are just preferences. A lot of bass fishermen and members here use only braid. You may find that you like it.

I thought Judge was gonna get walked every AB the rest of the season. Glad Toronto had the nuss to pitch to him.

This is how to handle it
What I find most annoying (I don’t know if that’s the right word), is usually in this situation there is almost a 100% chance that this person won’t call the DEC and say “someone is fishing near or under my dock”, but they will say untruthfully “someone is vandalizing my property with fishing equipment” or something along those lines. They know the legality of it, but will lie to make it seem like they are the victim.

Prized possessions
It only has a few hours on the water and a couple fish catches, but I’m already in love with my new TTUSV103HS and AXC68MXF combo.

That’s why you gotta fish the docks early, before people wake up. A couple months ago, my buddy threw a spook right between 2 docks and nailed a 2lber. We didn’t even know anybody was on the dock until a guy yelled “Did you just catch that near my dock? I didn’t know there were fish under there!”. He was excited. He was sitting in a chair at the base of the dock, camouflaged against his retaining wall ?

so I drop my dog off at the Vet today for teeth cleaning.
My dog is on the wellness plan as well. Kind of like pet health insurance. I pay like $45 monthly for the plan that includes 1 teeth cleaning every 12 months. That alone would be several hundred, not including all the vaccinations that are not cheap.

My 12, almost 13 year old dog gets her teeth cleaned once a year, and I always feel terrible having to fake like I’m going into the back with her only to close the door on her. ? She always forgives me though. But now that she’s the age that she is, I’m always a nervous wreck when she goes under general anesthesia to have it done.

How to avoid getting [treble] hooked?
I try to unhook the fish in the net if possible. Small ones are more dangerous. The big ones have plenty of room in the mouth to grab without hooking yourself. If the hooks are in a precarious spot, I’ll grab the fish by the belly, or by the gill plate like a pike. The real danger though is a large esox with treble hook facial piercings.

What time do you go to bed?
Usually around 9:30-10, up at 5. If I’m fishing I might be up at 3.

Your Most Beautiful Bass of 2022
Hope you’re right. I’ve long suspected it weighs a little under. Guess I should test it.

Gear Ratios for Baitcasters
I like 7:1 or 8:1 for most techniques. Working topwater baits and jerkbaits naturally creates a lot of slack, and when they hit it that will also slack your line. I like to be able to erase that slack with a single turn of the handle to stick the fish before it can spit the lure. Same with jigs and Texas rigs, or other non moving baits. I want to be able to get rid of that slack as soon as possible when I feel a hit. High gear ratios help with this. For moving baits like spinnerbaits and chatterbaits, I use a slower gear ratio; 5:1. Really helps with slow rolling the bait along bottom. Helps keep the blades spinning at slower speeds. 6:1 I prefer for lipless crankbaits. I’m normally yo-yoing them so there is some slack and some tension. I want to be able to move the bait somewhat slow, but also want to be able to reel in slack quickly if it gets hit on the down yo. 6:1 is a good middle ground for this in my opinion.

What's the one rod you would buy again without question if you broke it?
That’s great. I wish I had a reserve Aetos. Haven’t been able to find any used either. Same with the Fenwick Methods. Fenwick seems to like discontinuing great sticks.

Have you ever had a Bass "slime" your line like a Catfish does? C.S.I. who stole my $20 Lucky Craft
Not sure about my line, but I’ve had pike and pickerel slime and stink up my entire boat lol

Used baits
When I get to the boat launch I usually throw all the ripped up ones in the trash. If they’re still useable they just go back in their package.

It’s discontinued, but my Fenwick Aetos 7’ MH-F. An amazing worm & jig rod, and a delight to fish with.

What is the largest swimbait you will put on a spinnerbait?
For me, it usually comes down to this; If I’m fishing in water or a particular location where I’m very likely to hook a pike or pickerel, I will use a swimbait trailer because I won’t be using a trailer hook. Trailer hooks and esox usually equals a bloody mess. And if I’m not using a trailer hook then I might as well use a trailer. If I’m fishing in water where I don’t expect to run into pickerel, like offshore and/or smallmouth waters, I’m using a trailer hook and therefor no trailer. 99% of the time if im using a trailer, it will be a paddletail swimbait.

Why Bassheads have multiple rods & reels ~
No matter how many rods I bring, I’ll still be on my boat thinking “man I wish I brought that 7’ MH rigged with a Dark Sleeper” or “why didn’t I bring two 6’6” M-F so I could be throwing two different sized poppers?”.
-
Dedicated Rods?
Topwater, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, frogs, punching, jigs & T-rigs, and wacky senkos all have their own dedicated rigs in my arsenal. I know I’m forgetting a couple others.

Inexpensive baits that work
Rapala DTs, X-Raps & Skitterwalks, Storm Chug Bugs and Booyah Pad Crashers are all fish catchers, and just happen to be inexpensive. All mainstays in my tackle box.

what is the furthest you drive to catch bass. long distance haulers?
Favorite lake in about 45 minutes away. A lot of water I fish are 30 mins to 1.5 hours away. It’s rare I fish somewhere further than 1.5 hours unless im staying overnight. I’ve also been to Mexico to chase bass, but that wasn’t a day trip
