Paris Olympics
I'm an Olympi-a-holic. I love to watch it all. I wish they would so more coverage of the events and less of the talking heads. I'd love to also see more coverage of the less mainstream events. (Archery, Shooting, Sailing, etc, etc, etc). Go USA! FM

How many rods and Whats on them?
I plead the fifth sort of. I carry too many rods on my Kayak (15). I like it. I may need a intervention. FM

The decline of our lakes.
Too many people, too much pollution, serious loss of wetlands habitat, forests, wild plains. We've made leaps and bounds in improving water quality while destroying everything else close to it with development. Some serious big wins in the last fifty years though. Lake Michigan, Lake Erie. Love canal anyone? I still feel like the commercial with Indian brave crying. FM

Always shorter rod for kayak?
I don't use anything shorter then 6'10". My longer rods are 7'3" - 7'6". I like having a long enough length for being able to go around the bow if the fish swims under the kayak or across the bow. FM

At least he didn't lay the bass down in the grass/dirt/rocks for the photo. FM

Lures that work when other similar ones wont.
Since you woke up the bait monkey... I do think certain lures of the same type work better the others. Take the Pop-R for example. Pop-R verses the PopMax or Rico. The quality of the components (hooks especially) are much better. The paint job is better (whether the bass care about that I don't know). It does give me more confidence using it though. I really think a Jackhammer outperforms most all other vibrating jigs. I have used Berkely Power worms for years. I do think the fish holds on longer. I believe it is truly in the presentation of the lure that really counts. A old shoe lace worked properly could get bit. Bassresource videos are really good IMHO. They do a excellent job educating how-to, presenting, and breaking down a category of baits. But I still believe it all boils down to being in the right place at the right time making the right presentation. FM

What does my generation know about sonar?
That's a flasher, original type old school example of fishing electronics. You hung the transducer over the side of the boat and it would register the bottom and anything in between the bottom and surface. FM

How do I prevent my line from getting stuck in the line roller?
Using a very thin diameter braid? 8-10lb? FM

Doing your business on the water (#1 and #2...)
For the Deuce, I carry emergency paper for those infrequent moments. I'm in a kayak so it is hit the shore and dig a cat hole. Numero uno is over the side discretely. FM

Here's a weird one
I'm in Dwight's camp on this one. Using braid or braid to mono or fluoro leader? Do you think you might be overpowering the terminal tackle on your lure/s and just straightening the hooks and or split rings out? Use the drag Luke! FM

Stinkiest Soft Plastic You Use?
I like the original smell of power worms. It is kinda stanky, but after catching numbers of Bass over the years on power worms it kind grows on ya. Now when ever I open a fresh bag of power worms. I gotta git me a big ole snort and sniff off of that bag. Now let me tell ya about the taste... I bite down my 7" & 9" power worms. Usually just take about a inch or so off. Fishingmickey

Questions About Hot Weather Hoodies
I have been tournament kayak fishing in Texas for about 10 years now. It is not uncommon to have 100° days from May forward. I cover up completely! My gear is, light weight quick dry fishing pants, I wear one of the stretchy performance shirts under a vented w/front pockets fishing shirt, a buff (I prefer a looser buff) where I can pretty much pull it up over my head and where it is almost like a tunnel. I wear a Tilley hat over the sun glasses. I coat my nose, cheeks and side burn area before I get on the water with the Neutregena spf 70 or 100 sunblock. I wear NRS sun gloves to protect my hands. I have a Engel cooler with four rod holders. It carries three one liter bottles of water and usually a quart of Gatorade. Most of the time I have a left over bottle of water at the end of the day. The Tilley hat gets dunked from time to time. The buff if I am feeling "it" will get dunked in the ice chest and reapplied. The dunking above usually happens later in the day. Stay hydrated and covered up and you'll find it is a lot cooler then not doing it. FM

Scum Frog Appreciation
I have several Scum Frogs that should be arriving today. Thanks to the thread and the bait monkey whispering in my ear that the frog bite is going to be on this weekend. I'm looking forward to giving them a good work out on Toledo Bend this weekend. FM

Motorguide x3 won’t stay running on speed level 5
Does it have a overload system? Maybe thermal or amperage overload in the motor electronics? Might check the prop and make sure you don't have a wad of line around the shaft. The other thing to check would be to check your electrical connections. Good luck, FM

Is the Zillion and the Alphas the best bang per buck reels we've ever seen in fishing?
I have all of the above, The Zillion's are a very sweet reel IMHO. I also really like my Chronarch and Curado's too. I also have the opinion that the Bantam and Metanium are the most solid feeling reels I own. They are "tanks" that are a joy to fish. I was a solid Shimano fan boy before I tried the Zillion and that one hooked me. I now have four of them. FM
