  1. Did you get caught in the blast that went through Wednesday late afternoon/evening? I saw the line of storms replayed on the 10:00 pm news. They mentioned hail and how severe it was. FM
  2. You should check the results from the 5/18 TXKBFL on Still house last Saturday. FM
  3. Naw, I don't think so. You need to be aware of the strength of your hooks and utilize the drag to keep from "bending them out". Now if your planning on flipping or pitching laydowns, brush or heavy vegetation. Someplace where you have to "horse" them out off. Then you want the triple X strong or Superline hooks. I fish crankbaits with lighter wire hooks with 20 and 30# braid (no leader) and I think it's fine. You just can't bulldog/water ski a 5+ pound fish straight back to the boat. Hope that helps, August. FM
  4. Depending on the brand and size. Some fishing kayaks are way more stable then a canoe. But if your reach out to the side and get your upper body center of gravity out far enough... Some kayaks and my old Mainstream kingfisher would slip right out from under you like stepping on a banana peel or squeezing a bar of soap. Good luck, Crickety! FM
  5. I really think LGMshad, that day was a magical morning. Where the shad spawn and everything aligned for the big girls to feed. I lost a beast on my first cast at 6:15 am. About 6:20ish I got a 20.25 and I think I got the 25.5" at 6:35?? By 7:00 am the sun came up and the shad spawn bite died quickly after that. There was some more good fish caught after that. But that first 1/2 hr - 45 minutes were unreal for me. Biggest tournament fish I have ever caught. I think I have lost some as big or bigger. But that was the biggest I have photo'ed FM
  6. That one that was longer then the 26" Ketch board was at Lake Brownwood also.
  7. Lake Brownwood. TX Bass Nation Tournament.
  8. I predict this is my big bass for 2024 and the last ten years.
  9. Stillhouse has a lot of really big Bass in it. Hearing about possible teeners caught wouldn't surprise me. I think it was a 106-107" stringer that won last Saturday.
  10. TXKFBL (Texas Kayak Bass Fishing League) had a tourney on Stillhouse, Saturday. A bunch of big fish over 20" were caught along with three or four 24" plus. FM
  11. Just got out and have fun tomorrow Koz! Fish your strengths. Rooting for ya buddy! FM
  12. Sounds like your off to a good start, Koz. I'm rooting for you! May the force be with you! Fishingmickey
  13. Try setting all of the brakes to on and give it a try. FM
  14. X2 for the XD, I think they are a tougher more robust bait too.
  15. Probably not even then. I suspect you wont see much of a speed difference between 100 or 75-80% throttle.
  16. To kind of add to my previous post. You could make your own leaders with the titanium wire and use one of the high quality small swivels on one end and a good snap on the other. With the light wire and smaller swivel (Owner Micro hyper barrel swivel size 12) and snap (Spro, Owner, Duo, Nishine, VMC) you should not inhibit the action as badly of the crankbait your fishing either. FM VMC crankbait snap & Owner Micro are pictured.
  17. You might want to try some of the titanium "tie-able" leader material. It's pricey but if you keep your leader to about 8-12" it's reasonable. FM
  18. I think the leads that come off the XI3 motor are 8GA. Not a 100% certain on that. FM
  19. I'm rooting for the Stars too Disco. My sweetie is rooting for the Panthers. Both are looking good to advance (3-1). FM
  20. I have read that book too, Katie. Have you read "The River Why"? David James Duncan is the author. Fishingmickey
  21. Pretty much in the same camp as PBBrandon and MyKeyBe. The Fury is heavier rod. If you can swing it, go Sierra or Kayden if you go Dobyn's. FM
  22. Welcome, Bob. We've got some pretty good fishing here! Fishingmickey
  23. Mike, Are you going to be expanding the color line on the spunk shads? I'm looking for Frosted Purple and Bombshell.
  24. The Diawa Zillion.... But that is above his price point.
  25. Sure, Welcome to San Antonio! Judging by your favorite lakes on your profile. You already have an idea of whats in the area. We've got some pretty decent bass fishing IMHO. How far are you willing to drive/travel? Choke Canyon is about a hour and a half south, Canyon lake has been good last couple of times I've fished there. Coletto Creek can be pretty good. Medina lake is out west of San Antonio but it is way low (under 20%) or has been. Not sure how much recent rains have helped. Fayette county lake is a power plant lake. It's about a hour and a half east and it can produce some serious bags. Very good winter and spring fishing. Lake Bastrop is north east about the same driving distance. Calaveras and Braunig lakes are local and have stocked Redfish. Both lakes used to produce some seriously good bass twenty years ago. You could still probably catch a few if you tried. There is also Lake Amistad and Falcon lake to our south along the border deserve mention. to the north around and above Austin, You've got Buchanan, LBJ, Ink's and Lake Travis. They are all Colorado river chain lakes and are capable of producing serious big bass (7-10# fish). That should be enough to get you started. FM
