  1. I had one of my best days fishing (in my teenage memory) was from the bank in a Nebraska farm pond on the outskirts of Omaha (Omaha was much smaller then). I think we were fishing just after ice out, maybe a week or so. We fished a 3/16 oz, Texas rigged black Mister Twister frog and just slow dragged it across the bottom. Waited until I felt weight to set the hook. FM
  2. Hi Koz, Garmin has the update's listed on their web site. You can download the software updates to a SD card. I think it has to be a 32GB or under card. Once you download to the card you take that card out to your 93sv HD unit and make sure everything including your live scope box is on. And then you put the card into the slot and follow the prompts. With a new unit you shouldn't have to do this. FM
  3. I'm looking forward to hearing your initial reaction on using livescope. FM
  4. I may be up for that...It's a twelve hour road trip. FM
  5. I didn't read your post thoroughly. I missed that you had already pulled the trigger. FM
  6. You might take a look at this deal Koz, You'd have enough left over for a battery easy. https://www.thegpsstore.com/Marine-Electronics/GPS-Fishfinders/Garmin-ECHOMAP-UHD-93sv-GN-GT54UHD-and-LiveScope-Plus-Bundle FM
  7. Thanks, MN. I fed the Monkey. Just enough to get free shipping. FM
  8. It wasn't total "wow" it is an improvment over the LVS32. The "ghost tree" is pretty much gone and I feel I get a cleaner return on the screen and that helps me find my lure easier on a longer cast. What Jeremy S. has in his post above is 100% spot on too. It is very easy to get screen fixated and your trying to catch fish that don't want to eat. Side imaging is so nice for finding those brush piles, rock piles, road and creek beds. You can cover a heck of a swath of water with your side imaging. Even going 50' each side gives you a 100' swath. FM
  9. Ya gotta love that Maine bass fishing! Hopefully be up there again first week of Sept. FM
  10. Gimrus, No qualification needed to fish the BASS national kayak series. Just pay your entry money and dues. To fish the Kayak Classic you have to qualify through the tournaments.
  11. Not sure, but I think she's running either the Torqueedo 1103 or the NK180 on the back. Looking at 3k either way in motors. She uses foot steering while standing. FM
  12. Hi Koz, I've been doing the Kayak tournament thing for awhile. This will be my 10th season. I have been running Live scope for about three years now. I shopped around pretty hard. I got my first LVS 32 unit from Tackle Warehouse using the gift card that you can buy at 10% off. Nobody has or had any sales on Live Scope at the time. I have upgraded the head twice and LVS transducer once (32 to 34) since. I went with the 93 SV originally, then 93 SV UHD and now I have the 943XSV. They discontinued that unit and it was on sale from West Marine. I've found the GPS store to be a good source for Garmin as well. If you want to chew the fat about it sometime, pm me your number and we can cuss and discuss. Fishingmickey
  13. I am a fan of the Whoppper plopper too. When it's right it's really right. I have a dislike for the 90 size. It because if the prop gets fouled by the tiny-est piece of leaf or grass the entire lure spins on its self during the retrieve resulting in horrendous line twist. It's keel (belly) isn't nearly as pronounced as either the 75 or the 130 sizes. FM P.S. I like the white colors, Bone, Powder and I know it. I should use the Loon more.
  14. We did a our Valetines day celebration yesterday. Chocolate, cards exchanged and a fine dinner. Worked out well. FM
  15. Free kick ass shirt, rod was on sale. Is what it is. FM
  16. I can stand easily in my PA14 but I am not comfortable doing it. If I was lighter and had more experience standing I would. I do stand to pee. FM
  17. I bought one of the Tatula AGS rods. I got mine (shirt) after 7-8 months. I think I sent it in in Jan. or Feb. The shirt showed up late Nov. beginning of Dec. FM
  18. Ripped, Can you shoot/PM me a link to your JDM dealer? I've hunted for the 4" drift fry with no luck. FM
  19. Heck, The Zillion will work on any of the rods you have listed. I'd go outside (backyard) and rig your Zillion with the 10" worm on each rod. I'd start from the lightest "power" rod and work towards heaviest power. Figure out which one loads and casts the best and if it is your cheapest rod, so be it. If two of the rods are really close to being the best. make a second play date with them and take'em fishing! FM
  20. I have several multi piece (3 , 4 and 5) piece travel rods. Megabass, Shimano, St. Croix etc. It's hard to tell that they are multi-piece rods. Rod design has come a long ways in the last 20 years. I wouldn't think twice about pulling the trigger a two piece spinning rod. You do want to be careful about damaging them at the joints when it's "broken down". FM
  21. I used Berkley XL for years, XL is supposed to stand for extra limp. It's thinner then Big game and it also tests higher then rated but not nearly as much higher then Yozuri Hybrid, Berkley XT or Big game. FM
  22. Conquest Shallow edition.... Maybe. I feel the need for a really sexy round reel. FM
  23. I have caught more and bigger fish on a spinner bait then just about anything else. Almost any two things combined. It shines in the winter time for sure. FM
  24. I have caught shallow big girls with bulging eyes. Bass over 6-7lbs get really big eyes. I think. Just the way they are built. I do agree with you on the dangers of catching big fish that are deep especially in the summer time. Anyone that is a responsible angler that fishes deep needs to learn how to "fizz" a fish. The truly big bass require seriously good handling skills. Minimize the time out of the water. If you want to see how to properly handle bass. Honestly watch one of A-Jay's video's. He shows absolutely phenomenal fish handling, weighing and release skills when he releases his Big Brown sweethearts! FM
