  1. Just think of the tan lines those jeans would give you. FM
  2. Best thing I can suggest. Look at the seat in the kayak. Cheap kayak's have lousy seats. Your tailbone will be telling you in usually under a hour that it isn't happy. So go to a kayak dealer and see which models you like best. Ask to see if you can sit in the ones you like. Then when you feel like you've found a good one. Go hunt the used market. Seriously the seat can make or break you from kayak fishing. FM p.s. If your a larger sized human you need a larger sized kayak. The smaller narrow beam kayaks will dump you as soon as you get your center of gravity off center. It happens very quickly. It will be like bar of soap and squirt right out from under you.
  3. My fishing partner and I were out fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. I saw a pair of Marlins jump completely out of the water about ten feet apart and maybe 100' from the boat. One other time was we went out and I saw a big fish jumping in the distance. Thought it was a Sailfish. We hauled ass over to that area and found ourselves amongest a bunch of Spinner sharks that were "displaying" Jumping clear out of the water and spinning then back down. We probably saw fifty jumps. there must have been hundreds of sharks in that school. Freshwater was probably the time I saw a Bobcat take a Coot. The Bobcat was on a overhanging limb and jumped down onto the Coot, I was in my kayak about 20 yards away and saw the Bobcat make it's leap. that made my day. FM
  4. River2Sea Ish Monroe Bling. No, the wires aren't the heaviest. And if you lock your drag down, water ski your 3-5# fish and boat flip your bass you'll bend the wires. But the quality of the blades, the design on how the wire goes into the head (for bumping over wood) and the "thump" it gives off they are the juice. I've tried them all and the R2S produces the best spinner bait for me. Fishingmickey.
  5. You can actually get crankbaits deeper with 20# braid then 12 or 14# mono or fluoro. Much thinner line equals much deeper cranking. The first time I ever got a DD22 down to 22' was using 20# braid. FM
  6. I am over fifty (not by much) and I am over fifty (by a good amount). My collection has grown over the years. I do fish multi-species. FM
  7. Maybe running a bit too fast for a good return in deeper water? I have the same unit and never had a problem with the side imaging. I am fishing out of a kayak though, so not too much speed. FM
  8. It very well could be that they didn't start biting until the afternoon sun had a chance to warm up the water a bit. The Slugo is still an excellent bait, like flukes, SK caffeine free shad or Lake Fork Magic shads. It falls under the class of soft plastic jerk bait in my book. Can be very good dang near anytime of the year. FM
  9. I have three different glass crank bait rods. I like two of them a lot. The Shimano Curado glass and the Doybns Champion glass are both very good crank bait rods IMHO. They cast very well with mid RK55 to semi large 5 & 6XD sized baits. they still have enough backbone to feel like you got a good hook set and handle large fish too. The third rod is a Chatterbound and it is a notch less sensitive then the other two. FM
  10. Might want to check that closely. The lithium batteries have a BMS (battery maintainer system) in them. The charger has to be BMS compatible. If it doesn't say it is compatible it probably isn't. NOCO Genius II chargers are BMS compatible. Hope that helps, FM
  11. I fished the TXKBFL tourney on Houston County last Saturday. Some huge fish were caught. The winner had 113" with a 17.75 for his small fish. His other four went from huge to humongous. He also won Big Bass (longer then his measuring board). I've post the link to the TourneyX leader board if you want to peruse his pictures. https://tourneyx.com/leaderboard/standings/2023-txkbl-houston-county Fishingmickey
  12. I have the Seitech dolly for sailing and have used it for my kayak. Seitech went out of business and Dynamic is pretty much a clone of the Seitech dolly. They do work great, way better then a cart especially over rough ground. They are fairly easy to break down and store. The additional hitch attachment (it's extra) that you see Greg use in his videos to haul up and down those long Cali ramps really minimizes your time on the ramp. Even with the dolly, hauling a loaded PA14 any distance up a steep ramp will require some effort. They balance well (center of gravity over the wheels) and Dynamic makes them in kayak versions too. FM
  13. Hope to hear about your result's from Texoma. FM
  14. X2 I will use 30# braid for deep cranking on a moderate action rod. FM
  15. Order placed. FM
  16. Freshly spooled fluorocarbon on a spinning reel likes to "jump" off of the spool seemingly by itself at the end of a cast unless you feather the cast and hand close the bail. I have had this happen to me. There is a couple of reasons. One I think was overfilling and using too high of a pound test line (12#) and the other is Fluorocarbon is stiff by nature and that varies widely by manufacturer and price. That inherent stiffness acts like a spring like a slinky going down steps. Hope that helps, FM
  17. Tranx are tanks. I don't know that I'd compare them to Curado's. they are more heavy duty. The two I have (200 & 300) have been fine performing reels. FM
  18. I don't treat, I like a full cork grip too. Just feels right in the hand. FM
  19. Should be fine, rated for up to three oz's. Might not handle the larger big heavy swimbaits well. FM
  20. Please don't include Randy when your speaking about one of the greats. FM.
  21. 14" Rainbow trout out of the Chicago river right next to the B'hai temple. It was on a Glen L. Evans Loco Lure, Circa 1970ish. When I first saw prism tape on a lure. FM
  22. I have multiples of both and a couple of Met's, Cory. No matter how you slice it all of them are really great reels in my opinion and I do mean really great reels! Fishingmickey Digitaka - 246.53 - 22 Bantam 292.24 - 22 Zillion TW HD 1000H (out of stock) FM
  23. All time biggest string ever came on this plug: Heddon Dying Flutter in Baby Bass color. Alas they don't make them any more. Original was made with cedar. FM
  24. All I can say is try it and see. I'd love to hear how it works out. You could mount that 2.5" ball to the "H" rail plate and go from there. I think it will be pretty difficult to "slide" the mount without unlatching it from the H rail. In my experience once that red clip is in place even with out the latching lever engaged the H rail mount doesn't slide well at all. But you can unlatch completely then move it to where you want it and re-latch the clamp. The 1.5" ball H rail mount avoids having to use the plate and is IMHO a cleaner and more compact install. The 2.5" ball will give you much better gripping and less of a chance to have issues with the head slipping down. Now is the flat plate bracket strong enough to handle the weight of the unit? There is really only one way to find out and that's give it a go, try it and see what you think. Fishingmicky
