Want to buy a new rod and need advice
There is a lot of really good rods for that price range out there too. Knowing on how your planning to fish with your new JDM Met. would help out a bunch on making a good recommendation on a rod. Targeting Great lakes Small mouth? FM

Ketch Board vs Hawg Trough or something else?
As Choporoz said. The Hawg Trough was the standard before the Ketch board came out and became popular. Some of the issue's were, the measurement lines weren't darkened (people were making "fat" lines when they darkened their lines on the boards. Then we had the "bent board" scandal and the "shortened board" cheating incident came about. The Ketch board came out and it is a much stronger board with pre-darkened lines. The Ketch Karbonite and Aluminum boards are pretty much required in most tournaments. On the national trails BASS requires a Ketch board either Karbonite or aluminum. The Hobie BOS series requires the Aluminum. The KBF events are either Ketch board. FM

Nucanoe kayak consensus? (Or oldtown sportsman)
I haven't got a Nucanoe, I've got a Hobie PA14. I've been kayak tournament fishing since 2014. I've been thinking about putting together my next fishing machine. Nucanoe Ultimate or Frontier is what I am leaning towards. I feel the Nucanoe is built better then the Old Town. FM

Nucanoe kayak consensus? (Or oldtown sportsman)
I think Nucanoe makes a better Kayak IMHO. Old Town has it's share of followers too. I'm not familiar with Nucanoe's pedal drive system. I demo'ed the Old Town probably five years ago and just felt they weren't as well engineered. FM

Plastics
I also admit to being a plastic's geek. I bite the head (usually a inch or so) off of my 7' and 9" power worms more often then not. I like where the hook is positioned a little further back in the bait better. I think it improves (speeds up the ROF) especially when I am fishing deeper water. I really do like altering my plastics, be it removing appendages, shortening a long curly tail to a shorter curly tail, cutting the flap off of a speed worm to just a paddle on the back. Changing the action. Etc. etc. etc. FM

What tactic have you completely given up on?
Hi Glenn, Do you mean like paddle tail like Keitech Swing impact or paddle tail like (a paddle) paddle tail grub or reaper? Flat tail type is what I am trying to get at. FM

Higher-end spinnerbaits
I am a spinner bait guru. River2sea Bling. It ain't compact, it won't last forever, it will bend if you boat flip'em and or lock the drag down and haul'em in. The R2S delivers the best thump out there. I give you the half ounce gold double willow Chartruese spinner bait!

Last swimbait rod post - I think I have found my rod! Just need some advice from those familiar with Kistler
They are both fine rods, The Kistler KLX Feel and Reel Heavy is definitely a heavy power rod. I haven't tried a Heavy Mojo bass yet. I do have the 7' MH/fast Mojo bass and it is a fine rod too. St. Croix makes some excellent rods. You might also look at the Dobyn's Sierra or Kaden series. FM

Last swimbait rod post - I think I have found my rod! Just need some advice from those familiar with Kistler
I have several (10-12) Kistler rods. Nothing quite that heavy though. I have three KLX feel & reel (fiberglass tip) two are heavy and are rated up to 2 oz. one is a MH. I have a couple of Helium 3's, Argon's and Graphite's. If Trey say's that's the rod then that is the rod you should have. His customer service is excellent and you'll have something that is made in Texas and the knowledge that they will back up the product. Fishingmickey

A tutorial on available online water and lake data
Google Earth is another good scouting source of lake history. Checking different date views when the lake is down and marking weigh point on rock piles, stumps and whatever else you see that might be productive. Edwin Evers has a video on you tube discussing how he does it. FM

Moisture inside hardbait
Hi Aquarium, I'd suspect it may be cracked or something along those lines. Bounce it off of any rocks? May be a factory defect too. Give it a good going over with a magnifying glass? If you can't find anything. Send 6th Sense a email along with a picture or two of the water in the bait and see what happens. Good luck, FM
