  1. The news report I heard said something about the wrong Brian being texted by Bo Shembeckler congratulating him on getting the Giants head coaching job. Brian Flores was scheduled to interview for that position and got the text. Brian Daboll got the job. Sounds like a "insider" Bo screw up. FM
  2. Nor does fruits or little oily fish.
  3. 6'10" Kistler Argon w/Shimano Stephano XG 12# Daiwa Samurai Fluoro. Very light set up, casts like a dream. FM
  4. I've ran into a Alligators several times when fishing in my kayak (in Texas). I just try to keep my distance and I've been told make sure you don't corner them in a cove or get between them and shore. FM
  5. Still flat in the back by the transom? Or maybe something like this. I use one to launch my sailboats. FM
  6. I've got a bunch, The majority brands are Kistler, Dobyn's and St Croix. I've got a four ALX's. A Enox, Zolo and two customs, Couple of Denali Lithiums, Megabass, Loomis, Diawa, Shimano, Edge, Okuma. Just a hot mess and I'm looking hard at a Phenix Feather ML casting rod for some light/BFS type fishing. Not sure on the actual count but if I throw in the saltwater it is over fifty. FM
  7. Hi Gera, This may just be me. I think there is a step up in quality between the Sierra and the Fury. I've handled several Fury's and they are a nice rod. I own several Sierra's and really like them a lot. I like the full cork grip on the Sierra and it seems noticeably lighter in my hands then a Fury. I haven't tried to research the difference in blanks, guides or seats between the two. I just really like fishing with my Sierra's and it adds to my enjoyment while I'm on the water. Fishingmickey
  8. My first memories of fishing was hand lining with popcorn off of the dock for bluegills at Lake Opecka in Des Plains, IL. early to mid 60's. I've been fishing for everything since. Fishingmickey
  9. Howdy Scott, I couldn't stomach the high cost of the black pack either. I run a milk crate with rod holders (three each side and back). The rod holders are zip tied w/heavy duty zip ties to the crate. I use the crisscrossed bungee cord that came on the kayak to hold it in place. I carry five or six 3700 boxes, a couple of small terminal tackle boxes and two marker buoys in it. I have a 19 qt Engel dry box/cooler with four rod holders on it that sits in front of the milk crate. Fishingmickey
  10. I check with the Admiral before I make fishing plans of an extended nature. She realizes when I am underfished. FM
  11. IMHO there is three colors of spinnerbait worth a d**n. White, Chartreuse and Chartreuse and White.
  12. For me it depends on the bait. If it is a cheaper bait equipped with the "old" school bronze hooks and I am fishing a tournament and planning on throwing that bait a lot. It is getting the high quality hooks. Gammy's or Owner's. FM
  13. Ok, I throw my two cents worth of experience in the ring and see how bad I get chewed up. I'm not bothering with braid. It's a different animal and has it's purposes. I used Berkely XL 14# for years and years. I started using Fluorocarbon lines about six years ago. The differences between Mono and Fluoro in my humble opinion are in stretch and sensitivity. Fluoro takes more to stretch. It still stretches but not like Mono. Mono starts stretching sooner, a lot sooner then Fluoro. Fluoro sinks much better and faster then Mono. I like fishing with Fluorocarbon. I have found through much experimentation on the water that there is a heck of a lot of difference between brands of Fluorocarbon lines. I have settled on three Fluorocarbon lines. Seaguar Invisx and Tatsu. I've been using Diawa Samurai fluorocarbon also for the last 8-12 months with good results. I feel it's quality is right there with Tatsu. I've started using some of the Sunline Armillo and Defier monofilament lines for top water baits. I like it's performance much better then the good ole Berkely XL. I've got nothing against Big game. It's a fat strong line that always breaks way above it's rated test. Con's on Fluoro vs Mono. Fluoro absolutely hates to be kinked (think picking out a backlash) and will break where it has been kinked very easily. Fluoro the has been highly stressed (breaking off a snag) weakens it. Mono not so much. Fluoro in anything larger then 8lb test IMHO doesn't belong on spinning reels unless it is as a leader to braided line. Knot strength depends on the quality of the knot tied more so with fluoro then mono. I used the improved clinch knot for both lines and properly cinched down it works great for me. I know what works for me and I use all three. Like as has been stated several times Cigar nailed with different tools in the tool box helps the job get done better. Flame away! Fishingmickey
  14. Unk, New boat under warranty? I'd hammer the dealer. If the dealer balks or gives you some kind of BS answer like the Johnny Ray bracket. See if you can find out who the G3 rep is that supports the dealer. Contact them/him. Like Cyclops said the dealer should be bending over backwards to fix the problem. Fire'em him up! Good luck! 15. Love to help you out George, You've got a excellent set of rods and reels. You've probably got a fair majority of us drooling over all that DC reel stuff and top notch rods. Like WRB said without knowing the gear ratios reels and how your planning to fish them (what baits and size/weight of them) it is hard to say how to pair them. You've got the majority of the rod powers covered (3-6 power) lengths are all 7' - 7'3". Any of those reels will work with any of the rods. Now you need to determine line type (braid, mono, fluoro) and lb. test. Myself, I'd use the Curado 150 DC for heavier lures/presentations. The Scorpions and Met's will probably do anything else you ask of them. I do feel they would perform better on the lighter side of lure and line weights. Good luck and happy matching, Fishingmickey
  16. Hi Catt, I've got several packs of them. They are kind of like a cross between a ribbon tail worm and a long tailed reaper. I haven't fished them much yet. A local store here stocks them. FM
  17. I got the sorry you didn't win email with a coupon code for 20% off my next purchase. FM It doesn't show a expiration date in the email. The 20% off is for the losers of the Rico blem's drawing. FM
  18. Shimano is coming out with a Zodias 5pc travel rod. I've had one on pre-order with Tackle Direct since last August. https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-zodias-5-piece-travel-rods.html Falcon also has a 3pc travel rod out. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Falcon_Lowrider_Traveler_Casting_Rods/descpage-WTC.html FM
  19. 7" & 10" Berkley power worms 5" & 6.5 " SK finesse 5" Sk Fat baby finesse Zoom finesse worms SK Cut tail speed worm. FM
  20. KSanford, You might be better off to find a local trail. Not much in the way of bass club's on the kayak side of the fence (at least in Texas anyways). We have trails here in Texas. North, East, South East and West Texas all have trails that are open for anyone to fish. Our central Texas sponsor ACK called it quits this year. I'm not sure if ACK went under or the bean counters with Summit Sports that bought them out decided that encouraging growth in kayak fishing wasn't a good business model. Face Book is a good place to search for groups in your area. Just starting out the KBF monthly's can be pretty cut throat. You have to have some pretty productive waters and have the time to commit to do well. Good luck and please keep us updated! Fishingmickey
  21. No bananas.....
  22. I love bumping a spinnerbait off of wood. Bump it, pull it over, let it die/fall for a second then restart. FM
  23. No one has mentioned Diawa Samurai in this thread yet. I've been on the Seaguar Invisx and Tatsu band wagon for awhile. I've been using the Diawa Samurai J-Fluoro and have been very pleased with it's performance so far. I feel the quality is right up there with Tatsu. FM
  24. Second, prefer non-micro guides. Love my Sierra's FM
