  1. Guilty as charged! I now have enough tackle, rods and reels to last me a lifetime and a couple of reincarnations. FM
  2. Curado E50 or Core. FM
  3. I would avoid using the 3M 5200 to fill holes if you put a plate underneath. Use the JB Marineweld and make sure your overfill the holes and you can sand it flush and it will leave you a smooth surface. The 3M 5200 is more like a caulking/adhesive and is a great sealant if you never want to take it off. But it won't sand worth a d**n and it's not good for hole filling. FM
  4. Wow, That's a actively feeding Bass! FM
  5. I think I remember Glen posted something about a new line of Okuma rods. FM
  6. Popper are unique in the noise they produce when popped. Experiment with the retrieve and try to determine if you need to really "pop it" or just a short tug that makes it "spit" the water out in front of the lure when popped. When it is really popped it will make a distinct blurp this can draw in actively feeding fish and will seduce those bigger bass too. You can also walk them too. I've had poppers excel when they are hiding in shade lines, under trees and close to undercut banks. Especially when there are grasshoppers around those banks. Sometimes the bite is explosive and heart stopping when a big fish blasts out of the water engulfing your popper. Sometimes I've had them just levitate up to the popper and gently sip it off of the surface. Don't give up on the poppers, they were one of the original topwater lures been around for many, many years and there is a reason why. It's up to you to discover it! FM
  7. Maybe save the leaders for salt water fishing. FM
  8. Free? Power cord and transducer included? Only way to figure it out it to try it out. Have you get a smaller 12V battery? Maybe check you tube or google for reviews of the unit? https://www.lowrance.com/lowrance/type/fishfinders-chartplotters/hook-7-base-noxd/?srsltid=AfmBOoop3-NoG1VmVDgWkApn__y94Fw7d3BYM2BrnVmWlFpFBiypVa-_ The link should help with the specifications. The link reads like it is a pretty decent unit. FM
  9. Very Good, Swamper gal! Looking forward to seeing the pictures! FM
  10. There are lots of very fine rods out there for that Steez or NRX+ price point and below. ALX Enox or Zolo series Falcon Expert or Cara series Shimano's Poison Adrena, Expride or Zodias Phenix also makes some nice light rods. Lots to look at. FM
  11. Adding it to the bucket list. FM
  12. I kinda look at it this way. There's dumb bass and smart bass. The dumb bass will attack and eat anything it thinks might be food. It's just flat more aggressive. The smart bass might never bite a artificial lure. It waits and when it is sure it is a meal of real fish and then it's attack instinct takes over and it eats. I have had the smart bass ( I think ) get fooled when I have made the perfect cast and it hit the bank or grazed the bottom of overhanging branches and then plopped gently into the water in the perfect spot and was instantly slammed. Also I have had it happen when I have been frog fishing and made a bad cast or was getting wind blown past a dock or stump and had to burn my frog or lure past that hang up and got it past, stopped it after 5-10 ft. Again instant explosion that I am not ready for. Now back on the subject. I've been using live scope for about three plus years. Started with the 93SV and a LVS32 transducer. Now I am using a 106 SV UHD2 and LVS34. I am not expert with it. But I do know that at times the fish will just flat swim away from your offering. Sometimes they just ignore it. Sometimes they'll follow it and then swerve away. Sometimes it takes repeated jerk's, snaps and dancing to get them to strike. I still think it depends on the activity level of the bass and being able to trigger that "kill it/eat it" impulse to get that fish to commit to eating the lure. Truly big smart bass IMHO are a lot harder to trigger to get that strike. FM
  13. Hope you figure out a way to keep your "blend" fresh. FM
  14. I wear them all the time, Doing yard work, mowing the lawn, etc. Always when fishing. The sun is very brutal down here in Texas and I abused my skin for many years. I see a dermatologist every six months and have had a chunk of Basil cell Carcinoma removed from my face. Please cover up & use sun block if your out in the direct sun. You can thank me 20-30 years down the road. FM
  15. Something that comes to my mind is trying to snap it off of the bottom. Quick jerk up a couple of feet and let it fall, maybe several times even. Twitch it, make it twerk. See if you can get a reaction strike. Good luck, FM
  16. Excellent write up! Ya gotta love a good float trip! FM
  17. I'm on the opposite side of the coin, I haven't had any problems with them. FM
  18. Well that Duel TW sale just bit me. 18 on the way. 88 after tax. FM
  19. I'm debating fishing a frog only tournament... But I will have several different styles of frogs rigged. Ummm, no. I am not going to use only one lure. FM
  20. I bought this Gray Wolf BFS rod based off of Bulldog's recommendation. It came in last Friday. The quality and build look great and it feels very nice. I hope to get to fish it soon. For a $116.00 it's pretty much a steal. PVC rod case and fabric sleeve were included> Here's the link: https://www.graywolfrods.com/product-page/graywolf-xfst-6-0-bfs-rod-1-16-5-16oz FM
  21. I've got to concur with the rest. the 12# FC on spinning will give you problems. The line is just too stiff and has too much memory. 6-8 lb mono or go with 20# braid to a FC or Mono leader on the spinning rod. FM
  22. I gotta agree with Slowworm. That second picture shows it better. FM
