  1. I went to one in mass and it wasn't like last year when I got a lexa and a veritas for 75 bucks and tons of tackle for real cheap. Maybe I went to late last year I went right after Christmas and it was like heaven.
  2. I love those baits
  3. This is exactly right if I didn't find a little pond that was loaded with fish two years ago I probably wouldn't be fishing. This place taught me how to fish what a bite felt like all that stuff. I caught something like 150 fish in a few days when I was laid off for a week back then. I thought every place was like that until I started going to other spots and realized it was just that one pond. I caught everything from 2in to my biggest fish ever. Too bad I didn't have a scale. And this past year I went back and it wasn't like that anymore I think the bad winter messed it up because it's very shallow. Anyway some great advice from the man that put me on my first smallmouth so I would listen to what he says.
  4. Wow congrats to both of you. These are the only jigs I've ever bought and they are awesome
  5. Last year was better but I learned how to use a baitcaster so that was pretty important. It was also my first year of fishing from a kayak which was so much better than being stuck on the bank. Hopefully work is slower next season so I can fish but I'm definitely going to take a vacation just to go fishing for a week. Happy new year bass resource you guys make not fishing much easier.
  6. I had my best day last season with bluebassers. Top notch quality.
  7. I went through this last year while starting to use baitcasters. I found that at first because I was used to spinning tackle I had a hard time with right handed reels so I bought a left handed reel. It felt better for awhile but my frog rod had a right handed tatula on it and by the end of the season I felt much more comfortable with right handed because I threw the frog setup the most. So I think it's just in our heads and we can adapt to whatever we need to. Now I'm just gonna stick to right handed reels.
  8. I've got to learn to flip and pitch. Last year I barely got to fish and next year I need to plan more before going. And jigs.
  9. Lots of good info. Last year was my first fishing and I was on shore and I caught so many fish I thought I was a natural. This year I got a kayak and didn't really catch em good like the year before. I think it was because I lost my patience and fished too fast trying everything I had tied on. Next season I'm going to slow down and really try to figure out what my bait is doing. I'm just happy I have a place to come and learn about bass fishing from guys like Tom and bill that have so much knowledge and are willing to share so thanks guys.
  10. I would like to go to one of these seminars these pros do or something like that. These guys go through hell to make a living if your not kvd or ike you don't make much money.
  11. Next year I need to fish more. I spent so much money getting ready for my first season of actually knowing how to fish. I couldn't even get out once a week because work was so crazy. Next year I'm taking a week off and going fishing. I'm gonna try big swimbaits next year that's one thing I know.
  12. Wow I would love to see your camera. Everytime you post pictures I'm amazed. I've almost had it happen but one jumped off.
  13. It's true this forum is probably the only reason I learned how to fish. I'm glad I found it last year right after I caught my first bass. I had no idea bass fishing was so popular and so much fun. I love this place.
  14. I use a tatula frog rod and I love it. The only thing I don't like about it is in front of the reel seat. I have a couple rods that have a fore grip in front and I really like having that much more comfortable. And it gives me a reason to buy another frog rod haha. It seems to me anything in this price range is generally good quality.
  15. Nice fish Mike. I love seeing them and then catching them
  16. I use a fenwick med heavy moderate and I love it. I've had my best days fishing this year using this with a curado and 30lb braid. I've tried a regular med heavy but I really think the moderate action helps hook and land fish. And the only chatterbaits I use are from bluebasser do yourself a favor and pm him. I caught one this morning on one and it was such a cool bite soon as the bait landed it got smashed.
  17. Awesome tattoo. I'm gonna get some kind of fishing tattoo I don't know what yet though.
  18. I've thrown both and caught fish on both within minutes of each other. So I'm not sure if it matters much. I do know that I like throwing popping frogs better. The popping pad crasher walks pretty good so that's almost all I use anymore.
  19. Yes I got this same deal last year. I've been waiting for this post I'm surprised it's so early last year I didn't see it til after Christmas. I'm going to dicks this weekend thanks for the tip
  20. Kistler klx is my favorite spinning rod.
  21. I would kill to spend a day hearing all of your fishing stories. Guys like you are the reason this site is so great. Thank you
  22. I'm one of those people he's talking about. He invited me to go on his nitro and it was one of the best days I've ever had. I caught my first smallmouth thanks to him and might have lost my biggest largemouth. We didn't have the best day catching fish but it will be a day I'll never forget for the rest of my life. Going 40 in a bass boat feels like your going 100. Thanks Rhino I really appreciate you taking me out.
  23. Bluebassers bladed jig Frog
  24. If it wasn't for guys like you and this site I wouldn't know how to fish. I just started last year and with all the knowledge this place has given me. I now feel comfortable enough to show other people how to fish. Thanks for the post and thank you to bass resource.
