  1. 2 muskies on one trip is amazing. Great job . Those are some very good skis. Also I hate winter too.
  2. I liked the CBS show but thought it was rushed. The Outdoor Network show is 2 hrs and this one is only 1 hr. You could tell that some of the action and comments by anglers was cut out to fit the shows reduced time slot. Part of why I watch is the comments and inside knowledge these anglers have and to minimize that hurts the show, IMHO.
  3. I hate pickerel. So far this year I've caught 5 pickerel to every 1 bass. They are getting to be a big nuisance where I fish. Like Jigfishn10, most of the slimy pests I get are thin.
  4. Two of these. Totally unpractical but nuthin' but fun.
  5. I am in the wrong state.
  6. Y KNOT!!!
  7. I like the F&S brand of rods for the price. Less expensive than Cabela's brand but still good quality.
  8. When a critter like a gator learns to associate humans with food no good can come from it. I remember a couple in the poconos who were feeding a bear. They even coaxed it into their house by leaving a trail of sticky buns. They video taped the bear entering the home and accidentally knocking a picture off the wall and getting scared and running out of the home. When PA game commission wardens saw the tape they arrested the couple, trapped and tagged several bears in the area and relocated them to other parts of the state. They also said that if any of the tagged bears showed back up in the area they would have to be killed. Sometimes people are the stupid animals.
  9. Thanks BB. Took it out today and there was some whining going on. Usually its just from me but this time it seemed to be coming from the reel. I'll Qtip her tonight.

    ^^^Nice recall from another thread.^^^^
  11. Just bought a Curado 200i HG. Where exactly do you oil it? Got a feeling I'm gonna need to know this.

Actually I think its one of those new NASCAR racing bass. If you look at the other side its sponsored by STP, Pepsi, AT&T and the state of Virginia tourism bureau.
  13. I've made my own in the past. Just a plastic milk jug, some concrete mix, and a large eye hook.
  14. I remember seeing a fishing show once that shot a scene from the bottom of the lake looking up and it was amazing how little can be seen. A bait like a spinner bait is almost invisible except for the flashing of the blades. Now I'm sure you will say that a bass' eyes are different than our eyes but I tend to believe that even bass, when looking up at a bait when the sky is bright or dark can't see all that much. That is why we move the baits at a rapid pace. To get the attention of the bass.
  15. Thankfully I fish so I can avoid stuff like this till September. Its a smidge to early to start calling anybody at the bottom or top of the standings.
  16. Good thing you gotta boat RW. Here's hoping everyone is safe and dry.
  17. I heard they taste like chick...er...um.....turkey only wilder.
  18. Today is World Giraffe Day. So hug a giraffe.....if you can. If you can't just wave.
  19. Welcome to the forum. Glad to have another PA angler on board.
  20. Amazing. That is a huge hawg. We need details. What did you get that monster on?
  21. But they seem to know what they are doing. It is a fun event. I've heard that decades ago it wasn't so conservation-minded. They use to kill all the rattlesnakes they caught, skin them and prepare the meat for consumption. Now its far more humane. After the shenanigans they take the snakes back to where they were caught and release them. As far as it being a carnival, I didn't see or smell any carnies. Not even a whiff of cabbage.
  22. Every so often one of the snake hunters would walk around with one of the snakes to let people touch it and ask questions. The snakes head would be in a plastic tube for safety (allegedly the snakes and ours). The commentator also said that they never walk around with the same snake because the combination of heat and people handling the snake increases the risk of the snakes death. Someone didn't get the memo about the plastic tube and safety.
  23. We have the same two snakes in PA plus a very rare Eastern Massasauga that is also venomous.
  24. The reason water moccasins are not listed is because they aren't in PA or OH. Claims and sightings are mostly of water snakes. When people see snakes many times they are too busy running away to actually get a good description of the snake. They just assume its venomous. If you look it up, the range of water moccasins are as high as southern virginia. None in PA or OH. Probably cause of temp ranges in winters.
  25. Every year in the middle of June the little town of Noxen in Pennsylvania holds a rattlesnake roundup. This year was the second year I went. They catch the rattlesnakes from the surrounding 3 counties and bring them to the park to weigh, measure and count their rattles. They do this in an pen and when they are done getting the info they release the snakes in the pen they are standing in. I took some pics of the snakes and the people who catch them. The first pic is a copperhead. And yes the guy is holding it on one of his snake hooks used to catch the snake. This pic is a rattlesnake that is darker than typical rattlesnakes. The commentator told us snakes like this are born this color and its not any kind of "phase" that makes them change colors. If you want to see how close the snakes are to the snake catchers, the boots you see in this pic belong to the commentator. That snake never rattled. It just slithered by his boots. This pic is of a lighter colored rattlesnake. Still looks dangerous to me.
