  1. I keep mine in gallon ziplocs by type, craws, mag worms, creatures, senko, etc.. I keep one bag of "goto" favorites close and handy too.
  2. If you like the tatula ct's look on the auction site for the sv models. I have one and will be getting more.
  3. Cargo pants and columbia shirt with lots of pockets full of lures. 2 rods. Pill bottle with hooks n weights. No tackle box or bag. Backpack cooler. Drop to 1 rod for wading creeks.
  4. I normally cut it down to 5 or 6 when i go with someone else in their boat. The 4 i always bring : 7'med mod crank 7'2" mh fast spinnerbait 7' med fast jig rod 7'6" mh fast flipping rod After that i adjust to what the plan for fishing is between more cranking rods, topwater, worm, senko, finesse spinning, or a frog. If we plan to fish offshore the deep crank or finesse rig, or pounding rip rap another squarebill, or a senko or tex worm for junk fishing.
  5. Im a fan of the bait sack. I keep them handy on a shelf in rod locker. Every treble hook lure gets one before it goes in locker or comes in the house. No more hooks in my rod covers, or my wife's stupid cat at home.
  6. I thankfully dont have to do this much anymore, most of mine i drive up to them. When i do go to one that is bushier, i reduce my tackle greatly and fill my pockets, no tackle box or bag. No more than 2 rods in my left hand, machete in my right, and my pistol ready in an owb holster. I normally have on my rubber snake boots, long pants n sleeves, neck gaiter and wide hat. One trick that works well for me is to spray my clothes with bug spray before i put them on. Better coverage, no missed spots, or tasting while it spraying my neck/face.
  7. Around here its only a-rigs that use that stout of line or on a surf rod.
  8. I just crush the barb down on mine. Started doing that when i began fishing wacky senkos when i had trouble detecting bites early on and too many were hooked deep. I much better at line watching and detecting bites bow, but the habit remains on crushing barb down.
  9. Keep an eye on dobyns website if you want a champion. I picked up the champ 765flip for the same price as a new sierra.
  10. Med or med hvy casting rod around 7' for me. Depends on what im throwing. A mh that throws my ploppers well, is hard to use for a small pop-r, and vice versa. I prefer mono still for most topwater, but i usually throw my ploppers on my mh buzzbait rod and it has braid.
  11. X2 Its alot easier on a bad snag to break my flouro leader (6-20#) vs my 40# braid on my baitcasters (worms and jigs). Its also much better for abrasion too, so they always get a leader. My spinning gear i go back n forth on leaders depending on what im using and where, but they also only have 15# braid. Im not as worried about visibilty since the water i fish the most stays dingy. My frog and flipping rods are always straight braid.
  12. I only worry about the weight on a baitcaster when its too light to throw well, like a weightless rig. Other than that id stay with a 5:1 or a 6:1 for heavy or hard pulling lures, more for ease of use more than anything else. As stated above the rod makes a far bigger diffrence in castability in any weight range.
  13. Ive tried the red label and it was ok to me. It didnt seem to last as long as invisx or abrasx as far as abrasion or memory goes, even with regular use of kvd line conditioner. I just watch for sales on abrazx for cranks, and invisx for everything else but leaders. Leaders i will only use blue label leader material.
  14. Depends for me. I have 5 crankbait rods. 2 acadamy ethos 7'med-mod for squarebills and smaller cranks to 10'ish, with a 6.1 and a 7.1 reels A ml spinning setup for rapala shad raps with 6:1 A 7'2" mh-fast for 5/6xd's and similar sized cranks on a 6:1(looking to change it to a mod fast rod when i can) 7'10" mh-mod fast dedicated setup for 8/10xd and mag sized cranks with a 5:1.
  15. Im sold on the columbia pfg shirts with upf50 ratings. Most of mine are the long sleeve tshirt ones for $35 full retail. I just watch them on amazon and find them for under $25 regularly. I have the ones with a collar too. I also have really liked the magellan shirts from acadamy, i cant tell any diffrence between them and columbia except at the cash register. My wife picks at me when im fishing, but im covered head to toe. Shoes, long, breathable pants, long sleeve shirt, sun gloves, neck gaitor over my neck and face, glassea, and a wide brim hat. No greasy hands or feeling from sunblock anymore tho !!
  16. I went with frogg togg toadz gear, and bought a size larger to add layers as i need too. I reccomend a longer parka style coat. I prefer bibs over pants too. Had pants once, were fine til i bent over and water found the gap exposed between my pants and coat. No more rain pants since, never had an issue with bibs.
  17. Usually if i am with a partner, we throw both in same areas til we figure out which they prwfer, if there is a preference. Otherwise, i wont throw a crank if its somewhere i cant get it back or will just hang up too easy. I also wont throw a spinnerbait in any water over 10'. I just go to a deeper crank.
  18. Best money dad and i spend on our boat was the plug knocker (only thing that pays for itself) and after that was an on board charger. One plug for all 3 batteries, and charges as needed to restore then switches automaticly to a trickle/maintain mode. Very simple to use. One led that is red when charging and green in trickle mode. It stays plugged in anytime we are not using boat. We also run the everstart batteries from walmart and get about 4 years out both tm deep cycle batteries, and change them both at same time. We have been getting 5-6 out of cranking/electronics dual purpose battery.
  19. Im slowly switching all of mine to diawa tatulas of some kind. I have a tatula, a tw( and will be getting more), and several ct's. For me its all in having a similar feel in all my reels, in operation as well as physically. I also like that if i have a problem with one, i can use and dissect another to find the diffrence to fix the problem. Reels im replacing are bps mostly and some lews, the lews im debating on to change or not still. I liked them well but love the tatula ct line, especially the tw's.
  20. I dont have a real off season, but i tend to spend the most at black friday (sales) and right now (getting ready for spring fishing). I keep a running list on my phone, add stuff as i need to on it, and look back at it when i get ready to order. Found this way im less likely to forget to order things i need between realizing im low, and when i get ready to order. If i rely on just memory i always go back fishing and go " you dummy, you forgot to get those thingamahickys when you ordered doomaflatchys last week".
  21. We used to use a group 24 cranking, but when we increased our electronics to hds units (from just a flasher and hbird pirana), we upgraded to a group 27 dual purpose when we needed a new battery and have had no problems yet.
  22. X2. I just have more bags. One i keep handy is a "go to" bag of my favorites and most confident plastics. I also keep a senko bag and flipping bag handy. Rest of them are in a duffle bag in back box divided by style in gallon ziplocs.
  23. I would keep an eye out for an used st croid avid or dobyns champion. I know dobyns has refurb champs for 180ish on their website.
