  1. I opted for a dobyns champion 765 for my flipping/pitching rod. I wanted the extra sensitivity it adds. I dont think it ever hurts to have more sensitivity. I also use it to swim lures and work on bottom in places, as well as a carolina rod.
  2. Alll of mine are in 3700 boxes, standard size except for 1 deep one for big cranks. Seperated by depth and style. Squarwbills, shallow, med, deep, and ex deep/oversized cranks.

    Direct.
  4. Its about like saying which pickup truck is best. Everyone has a preference. I personally like power pro slick 8 and suffix 832 and will never own another ford as long as i live.
  5. Biggest diffrence ive seen is the hds will talk (share waypoints and transducers) to other units and the elites are stand alone only.
  6. I stick with yellow power pro slick 8. I have 15 on my dropshot and 20 on my senko. I often use a flouro leader (seaguar blue label) of 6 or 10lb. Wether i use the leader depends on where im fishing, water clarity and structure.
  7. Original bags, seperated into gallon ziplocs. Senkos, flipping, craws, trailers, worms, etc in a duffle bag in back box of boat. I then keep senkos, flipping baits, and a "go to" bag of my favorites and confidence or hot plastics in the front locker or in my tackle bag if i go somewhere else.
  8. I use anywhere from 15-65# braid for a few diffrent setups. If i find myself around rocks, concrete, mussels, or anything sharp i will always have a flouro leader. That stuff cuts right through braid. Thats why you dont see people fishing braid on crankbaits. I have 15# powerpro slick 8 on my senko rod (spinning) for for over 3 or 4 years now and have no poblems with it. But im also careful about where i use it without a leader. Personally i use 15-20# braid on all my spinning gear, 65# on my flipping rod, 30 on my worm rod, and 40 on my frog and jig. Topwater and buzzbait rods get mono, and floro on my cranks, chatterbaits, and spinnerbaits. There is no perfect line, i just try and take advantage of each types best attributes, and minimize its weaknesses impact for each technique.
  9. Seaguar blue label leader material on a spinning rod with 15# yellow power pro. Only way i throw a senko weightless unless i skip the leader all together. Never backlashed and havent had to change line for 3 years now. And i throw one weightless alot. Its a go to confidence lure for me.
  10. Green mirror/amber for freshwater.
  11. I use spinning tackle and 15lb braid, flouro leader only in clearer water. Most of the water i fish is fairly muddy so straight braid works fine.
  12. I have 16 currently. Normally 5 or 6 on deck or if i go in another boat, and change what i have out depending on what we plan to fish. Like if we are fishing offshore points and deep humps i leave the senko in the locker, if we are junk fishing no need for a deep crank. I normally have 4 cranks, spinnerbait, flipping stick, jig rod, topwater, tex worm, senko, chatterbait, buzzbait, frog, punch rig, dropshot, and carolina rig.
  13. I fish cranks alot. Its a favorite way to fish for me. Ive always preferred the ones with a wire on the end of a telescopic pole. I tried the ones with chains and all that slide down line and ended up hanging them up as well. The one i have extends to 25' and is fiberglass. I do reccomend unscrewing the wire top before use, and adding some loctite to threads. My dad and i agree that its the only thing in the boat that has paid for itself. We have learned fishing cranks in rocks, if you go past your lure it will usually pop free on its own. Just check line for knicks after, as well as after a number of casts without hanging up too.
  14. I had a refurb champ 765 flip i bought from them get broken in shipping to me. Called them up, talked to them, emailed the pics they asked for, and they shipped me out another rod pronto. Will not hesitate to look at ordering another rod from them again. Love my champions and their customer svc. Great and easy to deal with.
  15. I have a pair of ethos 7'med/mod rods from acadamy, and looking at a third. I fish squarebills and med divers (up to 12') on them and love them. Wonderful cranking rod for price, $69 reg, often on sale for less. To go deeper than 12' or mag sizes i go to my deep crank rod, an enigma 7'10" md hvy.
  16. I have an 1993 model 150hp evinride intruder outboard that has began acting odd. It will crank and idle and run fine during the morning hours. After fishing and moving around all morning it seems like once the sun gets up and it gets hot, the motor will not want to idle well. It will sputter or just die, but crank right back up. Its also sluggish to get on plane then too. It only seems to do this though after the sun heats everything up though. I try to buy ethanol free gas whenever i fill up, but depending on where i am its not always possible. I do put marine stabil in after i add gas everytime, wether ethanol free gas or regular, and try to put close to correct amount (or a touch extra) in for fuel i just added. Each winter i put the rabbit ears on and choke the fuel line to drain the carbs to help prevent them from gumming up again. Learned that one the hard way. Always had the red evinrude 2cycle oil, never anything else. Im looking for possible causes and fixes for the rougher idle and all after the sun and temps gets up, before taking it in for service.
  17. I keep all my tackle in 3700 boxes except for plastics(origional bags in gallon ziploc bags). Easier to use in boat. When i bank fish or go with some one else i have a bag from bass pro that holds 7 3700 boxes, but i carry only 4-5 boxes and my ziploc bags of plastics i plan to use for day.
  18. Kvd line conditioner and use it regularly and liberally. Other than that just make sure its spooled correctly from the beginning with the fresh line coming off correct side onto reel.
  19. Explains, why i seem to be really intrigued by the legends. Been in a hydrasports ls180 for 24 years now.
  20. I have a 5'6" and 5' spinning rods i use for panfishing while wading creeks.
  21. Simms.
  22. I much prefer hats, buffs, shirts, and gloves with upf over sunblock creams. I have never liked any of them and tried a ton over the years. Im normally covered head to toe nowdays, the alabama summer sun is no joke. My wife works at a dermatology office and it has taught me several things. 1. that any sunblock over spf 50 is no better than 50. After 50 its becomes a moot point, as well as people are fooled into thinking they wont have to reapply as much or as often with it, which is incorrect. 2. They reccomend both upf clothing and sunblock, but if you choose to only use one go with the clothing, since you dont have to reapply it, and it normally still works when its wet. 3. starting early is one of the keys to preventing melanoma and other skin prroblems. The dr said most of the time, the bad problems she sees really began in your youth days when you didnt care. Teens who lathered in baby oil regularly, are nearly guaranteed problems, followed by tanning bed users. Men who stay outside shirtless like construction workers and fishermen are right behind them. 4. when it comes to being in the sun for extended periods, there is no such thing as overdoing it with sun protection. Yes, you do need some exposure to the sun for better health, but its accomplished normally by short periods of exposure by daily activities.
  23. Another thing too is the diffrence in electronics nowdays too compared to 20 years (or even 10). With side/down imaging its become much easier and more common to fish offshore too. Heavier weights get down there and stay down there better. Im like you, i mostly fish shallower and alot of "junk fishing". One of my local lakes i fish (weiss) has an average depth of around 5' at summer pool, deepest spots are 30' and only in main river channel. I usually use lighter weights, but will go up some depending on where and what im fishing. Used to be 3/8 was as heavy as i kept, now i keep up to 1oz for use before i get into my punching only weights.
  24. I have 2 lfs and 2 tatula ct's. I have liked the lews, but I like the ct better. I had the 2 lews first, but after i got the ct i didnt hesitate to get another. I actually just replaced one of the lfs lews with an origional tatula on my deep cranking rod.
