  1. Fat tire and Boulevard Wheat. Have a few local micro brews that are good too but I can find one of those at most bars.
  2. IMO, there are 3 reasons not to use braid(on BC gear). 1. It is too strong to break off. 2. Abrasion resistance, rocks do not favor well for braid. 3. Treble hook lures, it pulls them out. The only one of those that ever comes into play is #3 for me, I throw some Yozuri on my crank combo.

I know nothing is ever perfect, and there are lemons, but if I had to boil or cook plastics before using them I would find other plastics to use. Especially when the maker knows about the flaw and cannot find a way to correct it. And this comes from someone who really like the Rage Chunks.
  4. My 13 year old brother runs it like a pro, maybe it is operator error :
  5. Wow! Not sure what to say other than thank you
  6. Or beat it on things Not saying that it cannot catch fish but in the long run it is not worth it.
  7. What a great post, it is not all about big fish or numbers...but the experience. And as you quoted, there is no better experience than getting out with the ones you care about Great job Branuss!
  8. I agree, I use to fish with my dad all the time and anymore living 3 hours away we do not get to that often because of work and health problems. Either way it was a highlight of all the years I have been fishing, and my dad has talked about it every day I talk to him since then. Since things have affected both of our lives, it makes every moment even more special that we spend together fishing. Life is short, and family and friends is all you really have in life and why not enjoy it while you can
  9. Leave it to Beaver : The one I caught that was on fire I threw him into the water so quick it put it out before any damage was done.
  10. Pond Hopper, try stretching the sleeves out just a little bit by hand before pulling them on, especially over bigger guides. They shouldn't rip if you do that first and eventually the sleeves will sort of mold themselves onto each rod. Send me your address again and I'll mail you a replacement. One more thing. The sleeves I have for sale will not totally protect a rod from breakage (car door, stepping on etc....) but they will prevent nicks and deep scratches that can cause blank failure. Plus they protect your guides and such when putting in or taking rods from the rod locker. The original poster of this thread might be looking for something like PVC. Scott, Like I said in the PM, class act but not needed. One other note to anyone who has bought the rod sleeves from Scott, make sure on a carrot stick you avoid the hook hanger when removing. That is how I tore the first one. Not the fault of the rod sleeve just a poorly placed hook hanger, and I want to cut it off but I was told that would ruin the warranty. That rod is still worth every penny though
  11. I have the Revo SX on that same rod(and own a Revo S) and you will love that combo. I have plenty of nice rigs and often times find myself re-rigging that combo just so I can fish with it And it looks good too, regardless of the rabbit, carrot, celery comments
  12. Got out with a buddy yesterday to a local big pond that has a ton of standing timber. The buck bass were shallow and hammering spinnerbaits. I tried backing off shore to find some bigger fish, to no avail. Later in the evening when the bite slowed down I got a little nuts and threw on a buzzbait. No more than 10 casts later I hooked into a decent 3 pound fish. After a few more fish I had one just suck the buzzbait under. I took the fish for granted and gave it a half hearted hookset, only to see a quality fish(4-5 lbs) throw the buzzbait on a head shake. About 20 minutes later the same thing happened, but I laid some steel into the fish and landed the only quality fish of the day, going 4 lbs 5 oz. Was a good day with a lot of fish.
  13. I just tell her, look deal with it, I am a man! I do not blame it on any other man, let alone mammal Try telling her it is a deer under the covers in the morning :
  14. Post cold front muddy water... seems I have been dealing with it for 3 weeks. I can deal with wind, a nice little chop seems to make the fish bite.

  16. I try to be more careful than that but at times it is the only option. I have noticed no nicks, or chips, or anything since using these.
  17. Or maybe G Loomis will come out with a split grip ;D
  18. Contact 5BL, he has some rod protectors that are the best I have seen. The only problem I have had is they seem to tear on bigger guides such as on swimbait rods.
  19. I have both the carrot stick and the avids, and I would say the carrot stick is a better rod as far as sensitivity and weight. The avid is still a good stick but not quite up to the carrot stick IMO.
  20. Yep pure northern strain.
  21. At least it could double as toilet paper in a time of need Jimzee ;D
  22. Oh and I dont have a triple chin normally, really I am a skinny guy who tends to pull a peacock in pictures. :
  23. Well after a rough 4 days of fishing muddy water and post cold front fish, I finally got the chance to take my dad out today in the boat for a while. Him living 3 hours away and recently(a year ago) undergoing major neck surgery has kept us from fishing together down here for a long while. I tried to get him to throw a big fish bait but he stuck to his twister tails. I made my mind up that if I stuck a nice fish, I would let him bring it in, paying him back for all those times as a kid he did the same for me, as he never gets the chance to bring in a 5 plus lb fish. Well 15 minutes in, I feel a tick, see the line jump, and put the hammer down. Tell dad to grab the rod, and seconds later the jig pops out No big deal... 4 casts later I feel a fish suck in the jig(Karu poison tail in Bluegill with the *** beaver) and I cranked down the slack and really laid some steel to it. Immediately I passed the rod to my dad. About 30 seconds later I see the line raising out of the water, and a hell of a head shake. What a fish After another half a minute I lipped the fish and gave my dad a high five/half hug. The smile on his face was something I will not forget. Either way it made up for 3 days of slow fishing with him and still has a smile on my face. That and it broke in that gimmicky rod and busted her big fish cherry ;D Here is a pic of my old man and the 6-5 we tag teamed.
  24. So which scent outfishes the other, megastrike or JJ's magic for those that have used it?
  25. I agree, when I was 19 I was in an accident with a hit and run(drunk) driver (that was never proven) and thought I was tough because I negotiated with the insurance company myself. I got a nice check but based on circumstances had a friend of the family(my lawyer now) who told me I should of got 10 times that amount. Although I guess they paid for 4 doctors visits and 38 chiro appointments : Like others said if it is routine stuff, I may not call the lawyer, but anything serious I would let them handle it.
