  1. The back of Sandy has been and will be perfect that time of year for a kayak.
  2. Seems like Hemphill would be good place for ya! ?
  3. Only been once about 30 years ago but we did good on live crawfish with a split shot on points. Largemouth, smallmouth, and catfish in the same spots. Good luck.
  4. Maybe try another spot or even another lake.
  5. I'm about ready to go back too. Been pit hopping along the Mississippi. It was fun and productive but it ain't Toledo or Rayburn and I can't wait to see a concrete landing ?
  6. Thanks BF. I think I have one. I tried a bigger suspending jerkbait but it didn't work.
  7. Well, it's hot for sure. Caught 12 or 15 this morning in 30 feet of water around a fork in a creek channel. One on a drop shot about 3 pounds. All the rest were on top water. 2 pounders schooling all around me. They're probably still doing it. Couldn't figure out how to catch em when they went down. Suspended. I gave out. It's bad to get old and can't take the heat anymore.
  8. I'm going tomorrow. Can't take it anymore! Going deep and in the lake until October. Don't care what I catch. It's time to bite the bullet and learn. If I gotta idle for three days looking that's what I'll do.
  9. Good luck!
  10. You'll be able to see it on your downscan. Shouldn't have to do anything. It will look like an imaginary line with "fuzz" below it. I haven't seen it yet this year. As far as the bass staying above it... that's what I've read and heard.
  11. I been fishin Rayburn. It was pretty good. I decided to try Toledo this afternoon and it was all I could do to catch 4. New area and a terrible northeast-east wind but still! Nice job Blaster.
  12. Hey bud. I'm still trying to learn my electronics and it's hard to see your downscan with the rain drops but I will tell ya that there are some very nice fish shallow right now. Good luck.
  13. I'm not anywhere close to a good crank bait fisherman but seem to have the best luck on parrot, blue and chartreuse, chrome sexy shad, black and chrome, that ugly yellow one, splatterback, sexy shad, and blue back herring. Ugly yellow one is chartreuse perch. Had to look it up.
  14. Can't afford any new baits. Planned on adding rattles to the baits I already own lol I'll keep it in mind for later though. Thanks. I think I already have some of those I forgot about. Just gotta add some skirts to em.
  15. Thanks. I haven't used any yet but was thinking about trying it. Especially when punching and for muddy water.
  16. I love it there. Plenty of roads and house slabs. Wish it had more grass. It looked like it was coming back last time I went. Another question... what is y'all's expert opinion on fishing with rattles on plastics and jigs at Toledo?
  17. Ok thanks. Thought it might be possible and something worth looking for.
  18. Good luck. I'll be there Tuesday afternoon. There were some nice fish shallow last week if the deep bite doesn't work for you. I have a question that I don't think has ever been discussed on here. Are there mussel shell beds in Toledo?
  19. Dang! I figured you nocturnal dudes were whacking em cause it's been tough in the daytime too. Went to Sandy Tuesday afternoon after the rain and caught 7. Went to Rayburn Wednesday and caught 8. Went to Housen this afternoon and ground out 10 or 12. Very slow all three days. Only a few nice ones. Nothing big.
  20. Troy, don't forget that you can fish shallow next to deep creek channels way out in the middle of most coves away from the bank. That has helped me a ton. Good luck.
  21. Finally quit surveying. Fished this afternoon in Six Mile a lil while. Caught 8. Jerk bait, crank bait, and only one on my spook. Still can't even make em fart on my frog. No size. Headed to Rayburn tomorrow if it's not a monsoon!
  22. Thanks. Ya, it was windy. I tend to bring lake advisories lol. Just decided to go back in Sandy. Caught 12 on a spook from 4:30 to 7:30.
  23. This morning caught 6 bass and a catfish. Only 3 were decent size. Buzzbait, spook, and a crankbait is all I could get a bite on. Depth was from 4 to about 16. All different. Didn't figure out a set depth. Will try somewhere else and deeper this afternoon.
  24. It sounds good lol
  25. Finally got back. Been over a month in a half. Thank God I got a job in the Pirate's Cove area. Good excuse to fish too ? Will give a report after. Also, just curious what and where is the pool? I figure it's below the dam or in the marsh?
