  1. Saw a guy whipping a rod around at Walmart, and it was apparent he didn't know how to easily check the rod's taper. Never seen it posted, so for those that don't know- hold the rod and pat the blank against your other palm a few inches up from the foregrip. Start lightly...looking at the tip curl (or lack of) and gradually increase force until you see where the blank gets into the backbone. Getting the tip to cutl during light pats will show it can throw lighter stuff, and vice versa.
  2. Man...you were so close to a normal thread title! But hey...it's kinda your trademark now 🤷‍♂️😁
  3. Have you fished the OG- the Grandebass Rattlesnake? They came out around '04 and I feel like they didn't get enough attention. Geecrack made a whole line of baits around the concept.
  4. I picked up like a dozen bottles of the Turtle Wax on sale for $1 15yrs ago and it works great, but they don't make it anymore . Picked up a few bottles of the new Meguisrs ceramic infused detail sprsy and it is great, but $20 retail (I paid $5 @walmart on clearance). If you were to pour them in a glass, they are all alike- a semi opaque cloudy liquid that is thin and slippery. I use these water based protectants on all sorts of things, including my rod, reel, and line after I fish. These sprays were made for motorcycles and cars in-between waxes. They don't offer the level of protection a straight wax or synthetic wax will, and I think they aid in line management before your line absorbs water.
  5. Just try it and let us know. I've been using the auto detail spray on my line for 20+ years, so I can confirm it works.
  6. I heard mend-it is PVC glue. It is popular to rebrand stuff and mark it up for fishermen. Kinda like Reel Magic= silicone spray and KVD line/lure is water based protectant (automotive quick detailer).
  7. It's still stuck in memphis...for over a week now. I'm wondering how they have the space to hold all these packages. I'm thinking they might be demanding money from the shop to get my package moving.
  8. Well, playing devil's advocate, I'll say at the $250 price point in spinning reels, you have to choose between light weight and rigidity (aluminum vs Ci4). At the $400 price point you can have both light weight and rigidity (magnesium).
  9. Ordered a Steez RC last week from JLS. Shipping was like $25. No extra charges. Ordered a limited Zillion and a few baits from Backlash Tackle (also in japan), and they charged me $40 shipping, and now my package is stuck in clearance. I'm concerned.
  10. The older, sought after model B1 and B2's are more bulbous/wider profile than the Pro Sunny B or current B1 or B2. Pro Sunny B id fire though...thumps hard/moves water.
  11. I have a 3000 on my MH Spinning rod. What line are you going to use? What fish are you targeting?
  12. I don't want to have to master punching. I love cover, but you can have too much of a good thing.
  13. It has nothing to do with 'need' for me...I collect tackle. I had to make that realization/admission a few years ago. I enjoy using, looking at, and organizing my tackle.
  14. I love these...wish they would add more colors.
  15. Plus...I feel like pitching a bottom contact bait around first lets you fish without alerting the fish you are there 🥷. After that...churn and burn!
  16. When I hit a pond, I generally fish a bottom contact bait first...picking apart any visible cover. On the way back around, I'll churn the water up with a trap...or topwater if it is evening.
  17. No more GloomisMan? That was your handle on the BPS forums circa 2002. I think you were rollin with GLX's before I could afford them, lol.
  18. Usually mid 50's water temp...when you start seeing activity. Seems like they want a little bigger meal at this point as well.
  19. Sounds like both MH's are similar in power. You might step up to the 7'3H. Power to weight is 💪
  20. Couldn't pass up the $5 bagleys, and a chance to grab more of the newly discovered Pro Sunny B and sunny MD. Grabbed 2 Duo Apex 66's and 55's to try. The Apex 66 has a killer 'soft' one-knocker rattle that is sure to work. Sunny medium diver... Pro Sunny B The Duo Reslus Apex 66 & 55SR
  21. Couple of 5 star reviews on TW... A true jerkbait rod worthy the brand. Significantly softer tip then IMX 812, pretty much an Expride action but with slower recovery. Incredible sensitivity - light as a feather. And the handle is perfect for twitching baits. A must have! Lomanoff - MN, United StatesSeptember 28, 2024 5 out of 5 Stars Would Recommend Upgraded expride 6'10"MI haven't fished it yet, but from bend testing and handling this rod it is perfect. Exactly the same power and taper as the Expride A 6'10"M ( I don't own a B model of that rod). Much lighter and shorter handle. The shorter handle is a big improvement for jerkbaits and topwaters. Balance point is slightly further forward of the reel, but not by much. Without a reel mounted, it felt too heavy but feels great with an alphas 800 the balance and feel is amazing. Can't wait to fish it!
  22. That post was from 2009, and that guy hasn't visited the site since 2014.
  23. For real?! I need to get out to the lake with mine to test it in some deeper water. I've just played around with mine at a soft bottom pond.
  24. $99 for an Edge Delta is an absolute steal! I'm heading over to the Edge site to shop spinning rods- love my 7'2"ml.
