  1. Diawa is releasing a jerkbait box with same features you are looking for and TW will have them in early January.
  2. Provide a side to side wobble with a subtle flash.
  3. It really depends on the species and the body of water but: Crankbait (always) Sexy Dawg or Spook Chatterbait Keitech swimbait Dropshot-Ned rig (spinnerbait)
  4. It's about affiliation and someone wanting to identify with brands and or sponsors or clubs or SCHOOLS. It's a garment made to wear during fishing weather and outdoor situations. Wear it and if someone wants to judge you, let them. The bass don't care.
  5. Crankbaits are extremely efficient at covering water and searching for active or semi active bass. They excel at working card cover but can be fished in soft cover well. I understand Tom's observation about hook changes, which makes sense but when the average bass was 1-14 the issue of bending a hook is not much of concern. If you get "familiar" with the what your bait feels like you can feel a water disturbance as Franco experienced. It's not uncommon to feel a bass push the bait from behind. I have confidence in crankbaits and if I can find a school, I can't think of a bait type that is better suited to exploit the opportunity to catch a bunch.
  6. The fishing industry is one of the the most cut throat and competitive out there. An investment group acquired Lews and later Strike King. Let the pros do their business thing and the rest of us can just go fishing. Nice stable of very well cared for equipment A-Jay !!
  7. A thought: I look at Dobyns model's listed weight range. They are broad. The middle of the range is the sweet spot for that model. Then look at the extreme ends of the range and although not optimum, the model will in a stretch work but it's not the sweet spot or optimum for the model. I also noticed, having a a number of Dobyns, the CB or crankbait powers are a designation all their own and should not be confused with models outside the crankbait specific models. Finally, once you fish a specific power rating it's actually pretty easy to figure out what the next power, up or down will feel like because the progression of the powers is actually very consistent and very predictable, at least that's my experience. I have found two exceptions, the Fury 664C and Champion 704CB glass. The first seemed closer to a 5 power and the latter well below a 4 power, even in the CB series.
  8. Only if you buy your tackle at Golden Corral.
  9. Yellow and blue mixed make green and green means you can go. Oh, you already did. If my great great grand parents were born in Scotland and the other pair in Norway, why do I need to send in one of those DNA kits to determine where I come from?
  10. Joe, you've been fishing long enough to know what you like, what works for you and what gives you confidence. That's all that counts.
  11. Glenn always has a method to his madness.
  12. There are three plastics that get bit when things are tough. A baby Brush Hog, a stick worm and a finesse worm. just fish them and and when you feel something "different" set the hook. File that away and build on it. Once you feel some bites or different types of bites the "feel" will come into play and so will the success.
  13. Swim Jig with a Keitech fat trailer
  14. Owner Mosquito, Gammi Dropshot/Splitshot and Gammi Extra Wide finesse. I have some Robo Rebarbs but have yet to use them.
  15. Black beauty ! Here's some cousins.
  16. Hay Glenn, can you re send me all your way points. I lost them. Doug
  17. 7'3" m/h (4 power) fast action with a 7.3 to 1 ratio and...........yes I do use braid, for this one.
  18. Hmmmmm...... Weight is dictated by wind, current and depth. 1/4 ounce seems to be the go to weight but 3/8 and rarely 1/2 will come into play. Caught about 40 of these little dudes as deep as 48 feet.
  19. I also have a Fury 735. Don't let the 5 power rating fool you, it has ample tip to fling or skip a frog and the juice to yard them out. It doubles as an effective pitching stick for heavy cover.
  20. Well, long time editor and writer Dave Precht announced his retirement in the month's issue of Bassmaster Magazine. I have missed about a half dozen issues of Bassmaster since it's inception. Precht is an icon to the development of bass fishing and bass fishing as a competitive sport. BASS and Bassmaster magazine have always had a mission to advance the sport and have done a helluva job fulfilling that mission. I've never publicly praised Bassmaster Magazine or it's writers and editors until now and it's well earned. Doug
